Angelina Jolie (SLR Cycle) Weds Brad Pitt
Post Posted Sat Aug 30, 2014 5:14 pm by StarAgeWiz
Angelina and Brad were married 23 Aug 2014, in a small village just a bit south of Brignoles, France. for which her SLR coordinates
was calculated for 14 Aug 2014. And with Mars conj. Saturn on the ASC not really great symbolism for what should be a most happy day.
However when her SLR is calculated for Jolie's Los Angeles birth place we have an entirely different picture with the appropriate
symbolism for a 'joyous' wedding ..Venus conj. Jupiter angular in the ASC.
I generally draw all SLR's for LOC but have found on occasion birth place angles/aspects far more telling than LOC angles.
Whereas SSR's and their progressions are with rare exceptions always more accurate for LOC than birth place (Angles).
Perhaps her birth lunar began in L.A. and consequently still valid in France?

Cyril Fagan always said that Returns should be calculated for the "residence." I never saw him use "locality." I've always wondered whether this was a peculiarity of his use of English, or whether he meant this literally as stated.
A very interesting test case. Thank you.

Fagan meant it literally. Not all of his colleagues agreed with him. (For the record, I do.)
Yes, the first thing I'd like to know is where she was when the chart actually set up.

Thanks Jim
I Wonder what Angelina's "residence" chart for Cambodia would show?
Aren't they living there?

Are they? I didn't know that. What city?
BTW, "residence" in astrology means the location where you are at a given moment, not where you get your mail

You mean where you happen to be at a given moment, or where you spend most of your time and keep your undies? I think residence is described by the later.

I just thought I'd mention This as I read some time ago that they do live reside in Cambodia. It must be interesting to see what was happening in their charts there as well. Angelina moved to Cambodia when she adopted her first child there. But those Hollywood stars probably have a few houses they live in all over the world.

As of a year ago at least, this is their home in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles, not far from where I live:

If you relocate her chart to Phnom Penh, nothing is near the angles.

IMO, this issue will always be debated among Sidereal Astrologers.

This is so true and from my research experience makes it most difficult in determining which location return/q chart to use for these ‘Hollywood stars.’

IMO, reflecting the old saying: ‘Being in the right place at the right time or being in the wrong place at the wrong time.’ In other words: On an individual basis moving around in the country--never ever ignore charts for where you may be for a given visit with certain individual objectives.

Fagan wrote in ‘Primer of Sidereal Astrology’:
The S.Q. (Solar Quotidian) has been calculated for the place of the event. Opinion differs on this question but our present opinion is that the S.Q. and all progressions should be calculated for the place of the SSR and not transposed to the place of the event. This question is under investigation.
It appears with Fagan’s above words (the father of Sidereal Astrology), this was questionable in his mind, and it still appears this same question is still debatable today among Siderealists. IMO, we can only with our individual experiences with Sidereal Astrology reach our own conclusions about the question of this location/re-location issue. In other words what resonates the strongest with our individual experiences and research. With my research experience with all Q & Return Charts, I have found where the event took place in a particular local reflects sharper angular symbolism verses the residence chart, but at the same time I would not completely ignore the main residence chart.

I don't travel much, but I've done a lot of moving around. Just from my own charts, locality Returns show better than birthplace. In the early 70s, there were a couple of significant developments where the longitude difference was small, but the latitude difference was significant, and these decided it for me.
Do Presidents travel more than they used to? When Fagan wrote his Presidential prediction columns as "I. Cowley" he always cast them for DC. Traveling Presidents make me tear my hair out, figuratively - or am I being too obsessive?

Yes, President's travel more than they used to. Until Woodrow Wilson, no President ever left U.S. soil while in office, and it was a scandal when he went to Paris. Nixon was the widest traveled President, at least until his time. (Note that both of these had Sagittarius Sun.)
There does seem to be a way in which the presidency is anchored to Washington. One example: Bush was in Florida when 9/11 hit, but his charts are only brilliant for Washington (even the quotidian IIRC - not just the charts that had already set up).
My experience is that return charts work exactly like natal: They are valid for where they set up, and never lose that - and then they are relocated as you move around.

IMO, no mater where the President is travelling in our country when a major event occurs, we have to check his main residence chart for DC. And then when his SSR sets-up--there are times when we don't really know where the prez is located or traveling in the country. Bush took many trips to his Texas ranch which at times leaves the sidereal astrologer not actually knowing where he was on his birthday.

An excellent point/example for the presidency anchored to DC. If you calculate Bush’s Solar Quotidian (SQ) for DC on 9/11/01 you will notice sp SSR Moon had progressed to a near exact 180 to his n. Saturn falling on the SQ MC axis. Par-excellent symbolism for the 9/11 event. As sidereal astrologers we get to view so many event related charts we start to take these brilliant Sidereal symbolic charts for granted, but when we ponder the question how in this world a president can be elected years before a major event involving the country takes place, only then does the awe-inspiring wonder take place in our astrological minds that we are dealing with a foreknowledge astrological science which imo will remain the greatest mystery ever presented to an inquiring mind. In a sense, I think it is this great mystery which forever keeps us hooked to the field of astrology.
