It's hard to get data for studying epidemics. We have so much astrological literature about disease, including virulent disease, so I've wanted to look at this in terms of mass infections etc., especially those that can be geographically narrowed (and confined to a particular time).

We have one epidemic going on right now - see the NYT article above. Oklahoma City is aflame wit syphilis. Most doctors thought this was gone 20 years ago, then three kids showed up with it in Oklahoma City last fall - from different neighborhoods, different schools, and different social circles - that were the opening of a much larger spread.

I was quite interested in whether something distinctive to Oklahoma City might show this, perhaps last year and especially this What I found is that the contrast between last year (when it first started to crop up) and this year is dramatic.

The main solar ingresses for Oklahoma City in 2016 were Jupiter dominated. They were set up for a fine year. However, this year, as the city is actively struggling with the problem, we find:

22°07' Sag Capsolar Dsc
22°27' Sag Capsolar Pluto (0°54' above Dsc)

27°22' Sco Cansolar Saturn [0°12' above Dsc]
28°17' Sco Cansolar Dsc

If we could graph these two ingresses on a single map, you would see two parallel curves - one line for Saturn, one for Plut0 - zooming past the outskirts of Oklahoma City.

I am intrigued that the star Rasalhague is at 27°43' Scorpio. (It is the brightest star in Ophiuchus. It's name means, "Head of the Serpent Gatherer.")
