1932 Jalisco earthquake

Post by Jim Eshelman »

June 3, 1932, 10:36 UT, 19.5N, 104.25W

A magnitude 8.2 quake. Over 400 people died. It was the first of three quakes (all magnitude 7 or greater) in western Mexico during that month, each causing significant tsunamis, damage, and death. Thousands of houses were damaged or destroyed, and larger buildings (including the 16th century Guadalajara Cathedral) were seriously damaged.(The successor quakes were June 18, 4:15 AM, and June 22.)

Saturn was exactly on Midheaven and Mars rising when the quake hit.
