Tangerang Fireworks Factory Explosion

Post by Jim Eshelman »

October 26, 2017, 8:30 AM, Kosambi, Tangerang, Indonesia
Evolving story: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tangerang ... s_disaster

49 people are dead from two explosions at a fireworks factory, apparently caused by an accidental ignition of powder. A roughly matching number (46) were injured, all from 103 employees. The first explosion was about 8:30 AM and the second about 1:00 PM. (Kosambi is on the outskirts of Jakarta, and I can't get exact coordinates, so I'm using Jakarta.)

"Deadliest industrial accident in Indonesia." Wiki: "The rooftops of the factory were flung due to the force of the explosion... As the fire spread, panicked workers tried to flee from the site... Eyewitnesses reportedly heard screams from the victims. Victims were also reportedly heard banging on the doors. Several people managed to get out from the factory in time by going through the flames and climbing the front gate. However, most suffered burn injuries."

EDIT: When I redo this, the coordinates are 6S04'47" 106E40'41

The scene was horrible: "People were burned so badly you couldn't see their faces," a police spokesperson said.
