Station Nightclub fire

Post by Jim Eshelman »

February 20, 2003, 11:07 PM, West Warwick, RI: at the Station nightclub 41N41'04", 71W30'39"

Pyrotechnics were ignited indoors by a band's tour manager. These, in turn, "ignited plastic foam used as sound insulation in the walls and ceilings surrounding the stage." The entire club was ablaze in less than 6 minutes.

100 people died, 230 more were injured. Unlike so many of these club fires with similar causes, this one did not include overcrowding excesses in the casualty cause. Today, this is the 4th deadliest U.S. nightclub fire.

At the time the fireworks launched and the fire began, Pluto was 0°21' from IC square Jupiter 0°25' from EP. Their square in RA was only 0°04'.

SUMMARY: When the band’s tour manager lit pyrotechnics inside the Station Nightclub, they, in turn ignited foam insulation used in the walls and ceilings around the state. In less than six minutes, the entire cub was on fire. From this, 100 died and another 230 were injured, making it one of the deadliest nightclub fires in U.S. history.
