2018 January stuff
I just realized I hadn't started a new thread. Oops! (I think I was thinking I had to wait for the Caplunar to end.)

Hawaii missile false alarm
January 13, 2018, just after 8:00 AM, Hawaii (use Honolulu)
Just after 8 AM this morning, the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency accidentally sent a false emergency alert saying, "BALLISTIC MISSILE THREAD INBOUND TO HAWAII. SEEK IMMEDIATE SHELTER. THIS IS NOT A DRILL."
Oops!
The Liblunar January 9 is a bit crazy, with Sun, Venus, and Pluto all conjoined about 1° from IC while Moon opposes Uranus, but it doesn't exactly describe the event. (I'd have rather the Caplunar's Mercury-Neptune square made it to the angles, but not close enough. It was dormant.)
With no valid Capsolar-based daily factors, the CanQ reigns, and it has about as good as the Mercury-Neptune: It has Mercury-Saturn. Transiting Saturn was 19' from CanQ IC when the alarm went, with Mercury in 35' conjunction (and less than 2° from IC). Furthermore, in straight transits to the Cansolar itself, transiting Mercury and Saturn were within 2° of Midheaven! It was a thoroughly Mercury-Saturn day for Hawaii. (And, oh yeah, there's still that progressed Moon-Neptune opposition in the CapQ.)

Michigan: a meteor exploding
When I saw this article, I thought, "Oh, a fireworks show!~" (Meaning, that's what the experience would be like.) I anticipated Venus-Uranus, the "ooh and ahh" aspect of mundane astrology. Now, just before starting to answer this, I looked at the astro map for this month's mundane forecast, and I see Sun, Venus, and Uranus shooting together through Michigan. Cool!Danica wrote: Wed Jan 17, 2018 7:16 pmPeople who've put their videos of this online give the time 8:08 PM ESTA meteor flared over Michigan on Jan. 16, exploding with enough force to register as the equivalent of a 2.0 magnitude earthquake, according to officials. [...] The USGS said the meteoroid entered about five miles from New Haven, Mich.
There are three New Havens in Michigan. This is the one in Macomb County, near Detroit, at 42N44, 82W48. The Caplunar has the following:
29°40' Pis Uranus
0°00' Cap Moon
1°45' Cap Sun
2°50' Can Ascendant
3°35' Cap Venus
That Venus was actually 0°02' from Descendant for New Haven - within a few minutes of angular for anyplace nearby where this siting occurred, where viewers had a cool, beautiful sight.
For adequate weirdness, the new Capsolar had rotated just enough by quotidian that progressed IC was in orb of Pluto.

Gulf of Alaska (Kodiak Is.) Earthquake
January 23, 2018, 9:31:42 UT, 56N02'45'', 149W04'23'', Mag 7.9
A large earthquake near Kodiak, Alaska, has set off tsunami warning from Alaska down to San Francisco (now cancelled). I have not yet heard of any damages or casualties.
The quake occurred with Uranus square MC 0°11' for the epicenter, among other momentary factors. Please notice that we are now in the phase with transiting Saturn conjunct Capsolar and CapQ Moon, and we'll be here a while. The ingresses are fine as they develop, with mostly a Neptune focus, then the daily factors nail the quake nearly to within a mile.

Mount Mayon eruption?
Based on some recent activity, scientists are anticipating a serious eruption pf Mount Mayon in the near future. Its in the Philippines, at 13N15'24", 123E41'06". Limited evacuations have begun, including turning off power to the area closest to the mountain. Here's a partial record of recent activitiy:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mayon#2018_activity
Volcano eruptions are marked primarily by Mars and secondarily by Saturn. Moon aspects are especially to Pluto, and secondarily to Uranus and Saturn.
The new Capsolar for Mount Mayon has Jupiter and Mars each 1-2° from Descendant. Furthermore, transiting Mars and the quotidian Descendant have been moving at the same speed, so Mars has remained on a quotidian angle through the present, but soon will fade.
Mars stays generally close to lunar ingress angles for Mount Mayon for a while, without really being on top of them. I'm next most concerned about the February 13 Caplunar, with a Mars-Neptune square right on the angles.

South Korean hospital fire
January 26, 2018, 7:30 AM, Miryang, South Korea
South Korea's deadliest fire in at least a decade occurred at Sejong Hospital in Miryang, near Seoul. So far, 41 people have died with more than 70 others injured. Only last month, 29 died in another fire in the same area, though we have a new Capsolar and new Caplunar since then.
CAPSOLAR: Mars is 1°19' from WP, in addition to the Moon-Mercury-Saturn conjunction.
CAPLUNAR: Sun and Moon are conjoined closely on Ascendant - a very distinctive mark of serious fires - with several other planets in wider angularity. Moon squares Uranus exactly in eclipto, and conjoins Pluto in mundo.
CAPQ: Q MC squares transiting Mars (1°42'). Saturn, of course, is not transiting Capsolar and CapQ Moon within 1°.

Kabul ambulance bombing
NOTE: I've pasted this to its own thread, and will do any further updates there.

January 27, 2018, 12:45 PM, Kabul, Afghanistan
A Taliban bomb in a Kabul ambulance killed 95 people today, in one of the bloodiest bomb slaughters ever. Another 158 were injured.
Notice that this sort of thing (the second in Kabul in short order, and one of several deadly events this week) is typical of times when we have Saturn transits or progressions with Capsolar, CapQ, Cansolar, or CanQ Moons, as we presently do.
Angularity at the time of the explosion (event chart) are complex - these are not usually our most reliable measures - with Jupiter exactly square MC while Moon & Mars are more broadly foreground.
