Curious as to discontent in the natal chart.

I have been discontent with tropical astrology, specifically my Sun sign, then I saw my whole chart and was discontent with all of it except Pluto-moon, of course at the time i thought i was ruled by Pluto, the tropical community logically disagreed and finally I broke and learned some other things. I came interested in my Tropical Sun/Moon midpoint and how it squares my Tropical A.C. and Sun ruler Saturn (surely I thought the sign it was in was important), after realizing that I show common Scorpio traits but didn't habe the energy of that sign in my chart (aside from Venus and that midpoint), I decided to learn some Vedic astrology, which quickly became to much to learn by myself and I was discontent with the future telling of it all. Next I moved on to sidereal astrology, I'm still dosicnetent eventhough you guys have recognized Pluto which a year ago would have fulfilled something on me. I'm discontent with the descriptions to my Sun/Moon signs. Maybe I'm discontent that I'm studying something and not fulfilling it's standards (partially because i don't like them and relate to them). Where would this discontent be found in my chart?

maybe your lack of Air qualities.
maybe its a phase
maybe its a combination of nature/nurture
maybe instead of wondering why you are unhappy,
find something to be happy about
and don't worry about your astrology and just live your life. millions of people lead great fulfilling lives and never know a bit about astrology.
astrology is a tool and maybe if this tool is just getting under your skin you need something different to understand and accept yourself.

all human beings have discontentment. it is a condition of life. finding an aspect or something in your chart, to say....oh here it is, this is why I am a negative nelly, and justifying via a natal chart so you can use it to not take responsibility for your actions is weak AF. that is a victims mentality.

go into the forest and sit with the trees for a long time and see how astrology influences the cycle of life beyond humans. trees are not discontent being trees. they never say to themselves, gosh I feel like a rose bush, I wish I was a rose bush.

Interesting, burning things is more my style. Trees also don't kill each other or have higher functioning minds.

trees will keep a fallen brother alive for years underground via a complex system of roots and sensors, and they with draw that life force when is time.

then how about you go watch a volcano and see how astrology manifest in that life force.

I don't believe in astrology. Not in that way at least. I'm a pantheist all things are equal in existence but that doesn't mean that all existing things are functional.

Discontent, or dissatisfaction? These are similar-sounding responses that generally come from almost opposite motives.

In either case, it's part of the larger benefic-malefic or goodstuff-badstuff balance, and how an individual handles it. (As Veronica mentioned, there are non-astrological contributors, such as one's formative life context: what expectations we set for our lives.)

Where would this discontent be found in my chart?

This simplifies the question a lot, since discontent can be sponsored by things within us OR by environmental factors impinging (and our interaction with them). Let's look at it from the natal perspective, as you asked.

In a simple world. there would be one answer - and that answer is, indeed, mostly correct. It's that natal malefics are more likely to show discontent. Strongly Mars types need something to battle, or they don't feel natural. Strongly Saturn types need to struggle and "earn their own way," not only experiencing a bit more negativity than most people but, especially, need to hold onto it more, even to define their lives in terms of it. Malefic-dominated charts are people made for hardship, so they (1) become able to handle hardship better, (2) have lives more marked by hardship, and (3) seem to not know what to do when things go nicely.

In contrast, benefic-dominated charts are people made for comfort, so they (1) adept very well to comfort and prosperity, (2) have lives more marked by comfort, and (3) seem to not know what to do when things go badly.

Discontent is primarily a malefic thing - Mars and Saturn dominance. Half of their truth is that life is crappy, and half of their truth is that they usually wouldn't want it any other way. For example, discontent is one of my three summation words for Sun in Capricorn. Your Capricorn Mars probably holds onto a bit of this, too.

But dissatisfaction is another thing altogether, and there is no better example of it than Sun in Sagittarius. Bottom line, Sagittarius Sun has the highest standards and expectations for the world and themselves, and it is rare that they or the world meet their standards and expectations. They fall short, the world falls short, individual things fall short - basically, stuff isn't good enough for them.

Mostly, this is right out of happiness research, or even basic customer service tactics of managing expectations. People aren't happy because things are great, or unhappy because things are crappy: No, people are unhappy when things are perceptibly worse than their expectations,
and happy when things are perceptibly better than their expectations. If happiness is the goal, then one doesn't need to manage the quality of circumstances so much as one needs to manage one's own (or others') expectations.

I'm goal isn't to be happy. I wouldn't say I'm comfort made either (I go out of my way to be uncomfortable at times). I actually like dark mood swings and chaos because life feels incomplete w9thout struggle or war. One of the reasons I'm not a Buddhist one system of philosophy I really like is because I can't give up violence, espicaly as a surface thing (I don't fight a lot but I look like I do and I can handle myself in battle), most of my style is me striking once, say one fatal sneaky killing blow like a snake. Often times I fight defending someone espicaly people I care about. However being content would be nice. Some coping vices I use in bad situations are unhealthy (such as smoking, fighting, risky behivor, burning things, over exercising, not eating etc.).
It feels like life is better always living it on edge you know.

Sounds a lot like your Capricorn Mars:

Courage, stands own ground (prefers action to complaining). Confrontational, discontent: creates unnecessary struggle & conflict (over authority, control, father issues). Private, secretive, self-veiling. (Mysterious façade, or deceptive; to avoid control, look good, or not be found out). Much unresolved shadow; vulnerable to dark moods; carries past darkness around. Sexually forthright (strong needs + practicality).

Capricorn is a weight I live with Jim. I switched over to sidereal to loss Capricorn, rather I found a more accurate description if Capricorn energy. I used to think friends used to be tools meant to be used. I'm high on the Machiavellian scale. When i was younger I had used defense mechanisms that are the exact same traits as actual personality disorders. I can say that I literally am cincidered with people using my words on this site to harm me or more importantly the things I love.

Capy might not be what you call my sign, but between the two outer planets, the node, and the Mars that's is one degree off of exaltation (and my anti-vertex angle I belive lies here). If Mars functions at 50-75 percent of a Sun and mine is exalted and in the tightest aspect in my chart, 10 degrees (aprox.) away from the anti-vertex, (not to mention aspecting the suns ruler), id argue its very close to the same strength as a typical Sun.
