USA Mundane Forecast
for the four weeks beginning June 2, 2018

If you are unfamiliar with the methods and interpretations of Sidereal mundane astrology, see my free book Sidereal Mundane Astrology. (A link to the current edition can always be found near the top of the Publications sub-forum.) For standard interpretations, see Chapter 8 of the new 15th Edition.

LONG-TERM (Solar Ingress) PATTERNS
The 12 months beginning January 15, 2018 are unstable, revolutionary, revising, remapping, anti-establishment, and often anti-government. Washington's Capsolar has Pluto square Ascendant (0°08') and Uranus on Westpoint (0°42'). A spirit of revolution assaults current systems, tearing at iconic structures. Victory in the 2018 elections will tend to fall to whomever can present himself or herself as the greater rebel.

PLUTO signals high-impact events that sever connections. Mainstream and counter-establishment sensibilities confront each other. Events are fiercely political, such as leader crises, financial crises, and severing historic relations. Natural disasters include hurricanes, earthquakes, and floods. URANUS signals explosions (literal or metaphorical); sudden rupture, shock, surprise, and overflowing normal boundaries and limitations. Expect disclosures and revelations, surprise attacks, changes in leadership, protests, revolts, and their suppression.

Changes in foreign relations are a certainty with a foreground SUN-VENUS-URANUS. Venus-Uranus also signals shifting social values, including increased liberty in Venus matters. What would 2018's version of legalizing same-sex marriage be? "Culture wars" kick up more intensely for the midterm elections. The voice of rebellion is concentrated on those in the highest office.

For the whole world, MOON CONJOINS MERCURY and SATURN. While Moon-Jupiter aspects in recent Capsolars brought economic recovery, expect the opposite from Moon-Saturn. Recession is not unthinkable. Capsolars had close Moon-Saturn aspects in 1819, 1837, and 2008, which should concern students of American money crises. Its record for violent inhumanity is heart-stopping. Climate destabilization will escalate faster in 2018 than in previous years, with tragic, life-smashing consequences.

With Mercury + Saturn, expect restrictions, delays, failures, and calamity in transportation and communication. Communication fails for technical reasons and because people stop listening to each other. Data integrity is increasingly doubted: Cybersecurity is a greater priority than cyber-expansion. Commerce is interrupted: More newspapers go out of business and more small businesses close their doors. Information flow is interrupted and rationed. Moon-Mercury keeps our attention on the media which, itself, is much of the story. Moon-Saturn signals hardship, narrowing, sacrifice, loss, and sadness, with little cause for celebration. Bereavement for widely beloved figures, deprivation and disappointment, destructive assaults by people and nature, and other forms of hardship focus primarily on alienation and divisiveness. It will be a good year for undertakers.

With Saturn in Sagittarius, internationalism, immigration, aviation, elitism, hierarchical economic separation, and missiles take up much of our headline space for 2018.

Finally, Washington has a Mars-Jupiter PVP conjunction. Resources are squandered, stretched past capacity. Religious evangelism and other belief-driven enthusiasm and aggression accelerate. Bigots have louder voices. In nature, as in human affairs, expect stormy weather.

The Arisolar (April 14) is dormant for Washington, DC, but adds (until mid-July) a further edge of violence and hardship: Arisolar Moon squares Saturn (2°24' in eclipto) and Mars (a blisteringly tight 0°09' in mundo).

MEDIUM-TERM PATTERNS (The Bridge)
Progressed Capsolar Sun moves within 1° of conjunct Venus June 12. Even though (at time of this writing) the June 12 Trump-Kim summit has been cancelled, we now enter the portion of this year when peace will be a stronger force in the world.

June 2-12 is a JUPITER-PLUTO zone. Negatively, this combination is known for outlandish, freaky weather events, and we're now officially in the hurricane season. More likely, Jupiter's opposition to CanQ Moon will draw out positive events with a focus on economic and diplomatic wins. Major events that are not purely political will center on religion and other passionate belief systems, celebrities and aristocrats, and entertainment.

June 13-15 adds Uranus to Cansolar Moon, forming a JUPITER-URANUS-PLUTO zone. Primarily we expect positive breakthroughs, tech revelations, and ideological revolution, especially the kind that remaps the larger social contract and expands opportunities and liberties. Among natural phenomena, these aspects are common for flood.

As Jupiter moves on, June 16-29 remains a URANUS-PLUTO zone. These pockets of the year stir things up: They are unstable, revising, remapping, anti-establishment, often anti-government, and embody a spirit of revolution aimed at dismantling existing systems and structures.

SHORT-TERM (Lunar Ingress) PATTERNS

Caplunar (Jun 2)
The Caplunar covers June 2-29, and especially the first week, June 2-9. Expect a difficult month in most ways. Saturn conjoins Descendant (2°51'). Venus is 3°25' below Ascendant. Their midpoint is 0°17' from horizon. Neptune and Pluto are widely angular.

Saturn stands out for all categories of events with significant loss of human life and costly property damage. Specific areas include losses in general (whether of life, loot, or an athletic competition); economic crises (both financial crises and periods of scarcity, loss, economic narrowing, and deprivation), earthquakes, hurricanes, volcanoes, fires, floods, explosions, tornadoes, coalmine disasters, bridge collapses, severe cold, and all other “act of God” natural disasters characterized by hardship, tragedy, and death.

Additionally, Saturn is common for collisions and other explosions, mass murders, massacres, war and other warlike assaults, populist uprisings and their suppressions, and sorrowful events involving of heads of state and other prominent leaders and cultural heroes.

Venus/Saturn combinations show powerful love coexisting with severe loss, as in grief for the loss of loved ones; spoiled fun (a sense that “the party is over”); possible hate, remorse, and loss of allies. Fires, explosions, wars, and mining disasters are among the events that this pair shares with the angular Saturn.

See the Other Locations maps below for the exact path where Saturn is setting. It passes across Michigan (exactly through Detroit) through North Carolina. Eastern Ohio has an exact Saturn-Neptune intersection.

CapQ angles touch one or another Neptune June 2-3 (squared by Sun), 6/5, and 6/7 (square Sun). Expect mass-insanity at a heightened level, probably turbulent and (given the Saturn-themed Caplunar) frightened. This adds a broad umbrella of confusion, uncertainty, disorientation, and perhaps panic. Watch out for deception and misdirection!

Transiting Jupiter opposite CanQ Moon is angular 6/3 and 6/7-8. Might this gives some reprieve or advantage in an otherwise difficult, narrowing week? (I am more inclined to trust the Caplunar and CapQ, but cannot entirely ignore these crossings.)

Arilunar (Jun 9)
The Arilunar covers June 9-22. Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un were supposed to meet in Singapore June 12, which is cancelled as I write this. Nonetheless, the Arilunar has a 0°02' Moon-Venus square worldwide (and foreground in both Washington and Singapore; Pyongyang has more controversy, with Mars on Midheaven despite Jupiter on Westpoint). Pluto is closest to an angle, so something epochal is not out of the question. In Washington, Moon makes PVP squares with Jupiter and Uranus.

Overall, we expect a positive week, though with extreme and startling things. With strong Moon-Venus aspects, strong Venus themes predominate, especially peace, public happiness, and celebration. We anticipate alliances rather than antipathies. Stories of love hold the public’s attention more than usual. As always with Moon-Venus and Moon-Jupiter, there is a chance for precipitation extremes; with Moon-Uranus, this stretches to flood. Overall, though, this should be a week with something to celebrate.

CapQ angles bring more Neptune 6/9, 6/11, and 6/13. With 2° orbs, this covers the whole week, with a similar import to last week except that (given the positive tone of the Arilunar) we do not expect dread. The persistent question arising out of the confusion is likely a different variation of, "So, what happens now?"

6/13-14 CanQ angles reinforce this, touching the Cansolar Venus-Neptune square and ingress Mercury. I specifically anticipate sleight-of-hand or deception in diplomacy. More broadly, Venus-Neptune is common for events of intense devotion, passionate belief, compelling fantasy or role-playing, performance art, disillusionment, betrayed alliances, perceived offenses, or diplomatic embarrassment.

Canlunar (Jun 15)
The Canlunar, which nominally covers June 15-22, is dormant. Primarily, the Arilunar flows through.

CanQ Ascendant squares transiting Neptune 6/16.

Liblunar (Jun 22)
The Liblunar covers June 22-29. Sun rises (0°36'), marking the main themes of the chart. Saturn is next most angular (almost 5°), then Neptune quite widely.

A solar focus with Saturn and Neptune - and a partile Moon-Uranus opposition in mundo - is a shake-up week for the president. Heads of state suffer under this kind of chart, their popularity takes a downward dive, and even their positions can seem threatened.

Whatever hits us will surprise us like a bomb-burst. A further commonality of Sun, Saturn, and Neptune on angles together is financial downturn, though with Saturn and Neptune less angular, any market dive will pass. If not entirely focused on the president, events will make unusually obvious just how strong a presence the U.S. government has in people's day-to-day lives.

June 24-25 CapQ MC conjoins ingress Saturn, exactly opposite transiting Sun. This day will mark an acute crisis (at least hardship, possibly a significant fall or failure) in the presidency. CapQ MC and transiting Sun touch Capsolar Moon the next day, continuing the effect and shining a spotlight even more brightly. On 6/28, CapQ MC conjoins transiting Saturn's conjunction with ingress Mercury (all opposed by transiting Sun) emphasizing all Mercury-Saturn (and generally adverse Mercury) themes, such as transportation tragedies, communication failures, restrictions, delays, technology intrusions and more. This week's Q crossings are really big deals!

Setting this up, CanQ Ascendant opposes Saturn June 22.

Trump Watch

PROGRESSIONS
President Trump continues several progressions this month, of which the foremost are:
  • p Saturn conjunct p Midheaven
  • p Mars sextile r Pluto
  • p Venus conjunct r Jupiter (p Venus also trines r Saturn; p Sun aspects Venus-Jupiter)
Even amidst the powerful Saturn-MC progression, an extraordinarily positive wave peaks this month. Progressed Venus conjoins natal Jupiter exactly (00') on June 15, reinforced by progressed Sun's aspects to both and modified by a progressed Venus-Saturn trine; but it is Venus-Jupiter itself that is exact. Besides many forms of positive things, this is consistent with peace diplomacy. This period could well be the highest point of the Trump presidency. However, he will be called to make a sacrifice for it, and perhaps even to pay an emotional price.

Until June 12, progressed Moon & Mercury conjoin. This temporary hyper-infusion of his personality with Mercury has many expressions, including focus on commerce, transportation, and communication. It's especially about talking, including circumstances inviting or requiring him to speak up, reveal information, or commit himself in word. Travel may be a necessary part of it.

TRANSITS
  • Until June 5, JUPITER squares progressed MOON. This gives a greater sense of well-being and places him at the center of attention. There is much emotion, usually joyful, but possibly moodiness and seeking ways to release accumulated stress. Generally social, celebrant, and indulgent.
  • Until June 27, SATURN squares natal NEPTUNE (exact June 13). While, potentially, ideals and dreams may become grounded and practical, the aspect rarely works out that nicely. Personal demons and troubled mental states tend to emerge. Needs for security and certainty are great, so insecurity raises its head.

SIDEREAL SOLAR RETURN
Beginning June 14, President Trump has a new Sidereal Solar Return. Please see the following link for its analysis:
http://solunars.com/viewtopic.php?f=20& ... 363#p15363

SIDEREAL LUNAR RETURN (May 30)
Trump's Moon-Sun-Uranus opposition aligns with the meridian. We especially see Neptune's transit to his Uranus. Moon is most angular, on IC and 0°10' from square Ascendant. This signifies a month in which he is especially responsive to unfolding circumstances. He is sucked into circumstances "close to home" physically and psychologically.

With both luminaries angular, he hungers for attention more than usual. Being exalted in his place on the world stage and before its cameras matters more to him than any other thing at the moment. His natal Sun-Uranus conjunction is given generous play: He unapologetically follows his own paths, persuaded that he's a “special case” and loving to show he is free of others' dominion.

Within this, the most sophisticated nuances of the chart lie in Neptune's foreground square to natal Uranus. The aspect, which is still building, is subtle: At root, it means that a dream or temptation inspires him to make major changes. It shows altered states, shifting realities - mental conditions that he has no need or desire to align with those of other people.

On June 5, a transiting Venus-Pluto opposition exactly falls on his SNQ MC, just as quotidian Ascendant conjoins natal progressed Venus ' exact conjunction with natal Jupiter. Under this sort of combination, people have won the lottery or pulled in odds-shattering gambling wins. Trump may get the same "who could have ever guessed" lucky break. Yet, concurrent, two Venus-Pluto aspects and a Pluto paran to natal Jupiter hint of upheavals in paradise. This may come to term 6/9 when SNQ MC highlights transiting Venus conjunct natal Saturn.

SIDEREAL DEMI-LUNAR RETURN (Jun 13)
NOTE 6/10: We now know this Demi-Lunar will set up in Singapore, not in Washington. A discussion of this, written today, is here: https://solunars.com/viewtopic.php?f=46 ... 850#p15850

Although positive progressions peak now, the fortnight beginning June 13 has to be regarded as a difficult, threatening time for President Trump.

The central message of this Demi-SLR is summarized in transiting Pluto square natal Jupiter in the foreground. Natal Jupiter is 3°24' before Ascendant and transiting Pluto 4°12' before IC: They are 0°48' from exact mundane square. Pluto is also in wider (4°08') ecliptical opposition to Trump's Saturn, also in the foreground.

Thus, we expect a negative, uprooting expression of Pluto to his Jupiter, i.e., dragging down the mighty. Broadly, it redefines status, finances, ethics, and reputation. Pluto to Saturn concurrently (and, in the months to come, increasingly) breaks down old structures, threatens security, and confronts hardest that which is most concrete and resistant. His foundation is shaken.

His natal Mercury-Neptune square is foreground (closer mundanely, 1°14', than ecliptically). Somebody is being fooled and made confused: Is it Trump? Or is he pulling the wool over our eyes? He has lived his life with this aspect, and it's basic to his style of negotiating, of wheeling and dealing. Watch for him to magnify trivialities, fixate on some things to draw attention away from others, make things seem more complicated than they are, and misdirect attention from real issues to fantasy problems.

Ultimately, this doesn't serve him. His own anxieties won't be held in check by these tactics. Transiting Saturn squares his foreground natal Neptune to the minute of arc (0°00'). His personal demons are out in force.

On 6/17, transiting Venus conjoins progressed Saturn on SNQ MC, an after-shock of the emotional loss or sacrifice of 6/9. On 6/22, SNQ Ascendant opposes transiting Uranus: Surprises shake things up. On 6/24, Q IC crosses transiting Mars: There is more conflict than usual - and the surprise may turn out to be a surprise attack.

SIDEREAL LUNAR RETURN (Jun 26)
On June 25-26, within the Sun + malefics Liblunar, as transiting Sun opposes Capsolar Saturn exactly on the CapQ meridian, President Trump has a new Sidereal Lunar Return with Sun opposite Saturn (0°14' in mundo), both in the immediate foreground of the SLR, and both closely square his natal Neptune (and more widely aspect his Mercury). Pluto is 0°19' from Eastpoint.

This is a dire chart for his authority and well-being. Regardless of his positive, peaking progressions, this could even be the point of his fall. He is weakened, probably betrayed, certainly impeded. With stationary transiting Mars aspecting his foreground natal Sun (0°17'), he is specifically under attack.

In the middleground, transiting Mercury conjoins natal Venus (0°12'). Somewhere in here, a deal can be made.

June 28, SNQ MC conjoins progressed Pluto, exactly square transiting Jupiter. This transit famously gives clear gain from a separation, in the fashion of (say) an inheritance or circumstances that liberate entangled energies.

Transits to Capsolar Planets

In recent months we have been exploring whether transits to all Capsolar planets are valid. Inherently, these would not be locale-specific, and I began with low expectations. - Preliminary conclusions from the first months of watching is that they are indeed important identifiers for locales where the 'natal' planet was angular in the Capsolar.

t Saturn conj. Capsolar Mercury June 18 to END

Mars transits: None.

Speaker Paul Ryan today joined other leading Republicans in rebuffing President Trump's charges of improper FBI treatment of his campaign (that they improperly "planted a spy" during the campaign). Ryan also countered Trump's position that he could pardon himself, ultimately just saying that he shouldn't do this and that nobody is above the law.

Speaker Ryan is one of the two highest ranking Republicans outside the White House, and is second in line to succeed to the presidency.

Yesterday was the last day transiting Jupiter squared Trump's progressed Moon within 1°, leaving only Saturn to his Neptune as a major transit.

Today is June 6, and quotidians have a 2° (two-day) orb. With this in mind, here is a paragraph from this month's Trump Watch section above.

In the last hours before Moon enters Aries (though, of course, the Caplunar applies all month), Trump is in Quebec City continuing the process of losing all our friends that he began this last week. It's been a wild, unpleasant ride of seeing him threaten America's closest relationships. This is all consistent with the Capsolar Venus-Uranus theme of foreign relations will significantly change this year, but is particularly consistent with the Saturn and Venus-Saturn losing our friends theme of this week.

In review, after levying high tariffs against Canada and most of our closest European allies (a process which required labelling them as security threats to the U.S.), he arrived at G-7 in La Malbaie, Quebec (near Quebec City: I think the Caplunar has a Pluto line, from the map - I haven't run the chart yet) and threatened to end trade (end trade!) with the six other leading economic powers on Earth, complaining, "We're like the piggy bank that everyone else is robbing, and that ends." This is surely a negotiating tactic (that's his style and pattern) and, concurrent with the above flaming remarks, he also said they were all having a very nice time together. [LATER: Then Trump upended any gains he'd made, by refusing to sign the seven-nation agreement at the end, and calling Trudeau "very dishonest and weak."]

Anyway, here are some excerpts from the Caplunar forecast. There are a lot of different possibilities from the same aspects, I've excerpted some that apply to this particular ride. (Note, though, that Jupiter's transit to CanQ Moon has been really good for the market during this time - a competing theme.)

President Trump's Demi-SLR will set up in Singapore. That means that the forecast below will not apply until he returns to Washington. Here is a discussion of the chart as it sets up in Singapore (2:52 AM local time June 14):

t Pluto sq. Asc 0°02' (or 3°28' before MC)
r Jupiter 1°29' past Dsc
-- t Pluto sq. r Jupiter 2°14'
r Saturn 7°57' before IC
-- t Pluto sq. r Saturn 4°08'
r Mercury 8°05' past IC
-- r Me/Sa on IC 0°04'

Moon-Sun conj. 0°30' [immediate background]
t Saturn sq. r Neptune 0°00'

Interestingly, there is very little technical difference between the two charts - though there is some. The main difference is that, while natal Mercury remains foreground, natal Neptune does not - the focus (surprisingly) isn't as much on his natal Mercury-Neptune square. OTOH, his widely foreground natal Mercury and Saturn have their midpoint 0°04' from IC. (Read Ebertin for Me/Sa=MC for some striking "on the head" remarks, but the basic idea I would offer is that, on the positive, he is concentrated and shrewd, and on the negative he is more blocked and resisted than he expects to be.)

Natal Jupiter is a little more angular, and transiting Pluto a lot more angular, but it's still the same aspect in the immediate foreground. The half-degree New Moon, always a sign of phase change and new beginnings, is in the immediate background but nonetheless important. A New Moon + acutely angular Pluto is a reliable indicator that things change significantly.

And that's the basic message of his SLR this week. This probably will seem as historic a few days as it has been made out to be. While he is in Singapore, the balance is shifted. Primarily, he is riding high with potential for epochal success and a clear sense of turning point and new starts. Nonetheless, there are imperfections. He is blocked more than he expects (it is his own fault, his Mercury-Saturn), and Saturn's 0°00' square to natal Neptune remains as a background factor that can't be ignored. Still, I think he'll have a better few days in Singapore than he'll have for the remainder of this fortnight once he returns to Washington.

Progressed Venus, exactly square his natal Jupiter, is on SNQ IC today. On the 11th and 12th, SNQ Asc crosses transiting Uranus exactly as SNQ IC crosses natal Venus. The message is quite obvious from this, and one I've been mentioning all year from the start of the Capsolar.

Trump currently plans (according to announcements) to leave Singapore about 8:00 PM June 12. Moon will be at 8° at that time, most of two days' motion ahead of his Demi-Lunar, so the return (as things currently stand) is likely to occur back in Washington.

I like it because, while we had information about an explicit event, the information was a fairly firm "This is not going to happen," down to Trump flashing his written order on TV.

But the charts - in a really straightforward way, viz., "Venus means peace + allies" - said this WAS going to happen. So, we get to say, "Despite it being announced it's not happening, the charts say it will happen." And it did.

In a binary decision, contrary to then-current information, astrology pointed unconditionally to one side of the coin, and it was the correct side of the coin.

That's what we should expect from astrology :)

Today, transiting Saturn moves within 1° of conjunct Capsolar Mercury. Based on what we have seen in the first few months of watching this sort of thing, we still start to see this symbolism show in places where Mercury is closely angular in the Capsolar or (on a given day) on its quotidian.

Boiler plate interpretation for Saturn-Mercury is: "Restrictions, delays, failures, or calamity relating to transportation. Communication breakdowns either from technical failures or because people simply stop listening to each other. Commerce interrupted."

This transit happened earlier in the year. I think there were a lot of aviation and other transportation disasters right under this line.

Regarding the Annapolis newspaper shooting, here are things we were able to catch in advance. (Notice that this is mostly true for Annapolis-local also, since the coordinates are essentially identical with Washington.) Aside from general instability, we see:

Moon-Mercury keeps our attention on the media which, itself, is much of the story. Moon-Saturn signals hardship, narrowing, sacrifice, loss, and sadness, with little cause for celebration. Bereavement for widely beloved figures, deprivation and disappointment, destructive assaults by people and nature, and other forms of hardship focus primarily on alienation and divisiveness. It will be a good year for undertakers.

The Arisolar (April 14) is dormant for Washington, DC, but adds (until mid-July) a further edge of violence and hardship: Arisolar Moon squares Saturn (2°24' in eclipto) and Mars (a blisteringly tight 0°09' in mundo).
Caplunar (Jun 2)
Saturn stands out for all categories of events with significant loss of human life... Specific areas include losses in general (whether of life, loot, or an athletic competition)… Saturn is common for... mass murders... Venus/Saturn combinations show powerful love coexisting with severe loss, as in grief for the loss of loved ones; spoiled fun (a sense that “the party is over”); possible hate, remorse, and loss of allies...

Another month over. There were a few wins in the forecasts but, overall, I think it was my worst month in at least a year.
