Virginia City coal mine explosion

February 20, 1905, time unknown, Virginia City, AL (near Hueytown)

An explosion (attributed to a miscalculation in the amount of powder to use in a planned explosion) ignited volatile coal dust that shot the explosion's effect through the entire mine. All 112 mem working in the mine died. (The mine itself was essentially fine.)
