LANSA Flight 508, flying from Lima to Pucalipa, Peru, had one engine struck by lightning as it encountered a thunderstorm. Though the engine didn't explode, the wing fell off, and then the plane disintegrated from the lightning strike. Of 91 people aboard, 90 died. This makes the event likely the deadliest single lightning strike of all time.

The one survivor, a 17-year-old named Juliane Koepcke, saw the plane disintegrate about her and then, strapped into her seat, fell two miles into the Amazon rainforest and survived. She walked through jungle 10 days with a broken collarbone and concussion until she was rescued.

Apparently 14 other people also survived the two-mile drop, but died before they could be rescued.

Juliane Koepcke was born October 10, 1954 - the same day, month, and year I was born! - in Lima, Peru.

Without a birth time, we are limited in examining Juliane Koepcke's experience of the event. I did notice, as I was going through, that her natal planets had no particular distinction on the ingress angles.

It is quite possible (better than 50% chance) that transiting Uranus conjoined her Sun. If the Sun were later than 22°34' Virgo (about 6 AM), this would be so, and it would be a (pun not planned, but accepted) striking aspect for the event. She was also (for any birth time) experiencing a close progessed Sun-Mars square which likely figured significantly in the event somehow.
