My girlfriend has always identified as a Virgo on the tropical zodiac. I am curious about her chart now and how the sidereal zodiac interprets her.

Birth Data: Born August 25th, 1994. At 11:30am. Teaneck, NJ

In the Sidereal zodiac, her Sun is in Leo and her Moon in Pisces. Jupiter is her strongest planet (square Midheaven). Her Moon is strongly connected with Uranus and Neptune.

Here is a brief summary of the meanings of the strongest things in her chart. (This isn't a chart analysis - o effort has been made to balance the pieces - it's just a set of notes on the strongest individual things in her chart.

There isn't much that could be mistaken for traditional Tropical Virgo traits. Perhaps her wide Mercury-Saturn opposition, though it's hardly a dominant feature of her chart. Perhaps the kind of edgy intellectualism of her Gemini Mars. Basically, though, she is a royalist, most at home as a royal or aristocratic character. There are several indications that she is quite capable of mobilizing fantasy to try to produce some version of a "perfect world," but it would be hard to interpret this as Virgo's version of perfection.

Angular Jupiter (sq. MC 0°50')
Positive, optimistic, oriented to the good & qualitative. Unusually lucky. Aspires to (enjoys) life of leisure & its perks (seeks to improve self & conditions). Generous, congenial, tolerant, good-humored, kind. Sexually giving. Needs esteem & inclusion (usually well received; can be overly role-conscious). Responds to cultural totems, heritage, tradition, social graces, social & ceremonial rituals. Champion of justice & fair play. (With afflictions by Mars and Saturn: an air of superiority, judgmental, greedy, envious, making one’s own luck when circumstances don’t cooperate.)


Moon in Pisces
Most truly themselves when being someone else. Dramatizes a personal fiction; “big fish” confidence (self-important, airs?). Love having a “secret side.” Divas. Emotionally driven (haunted). Fascinated with the unknown. Religious thinking style. Faith, commitment to beliefs or vision. Judgmental. Hardened personal reality (stuck patterns).

Moon square Uranus (0°16')
A specie of genius (intellectually rebellious, roving, curious, investigative) is bursting to express itself – not wholly comfortable accepting outside guidance, often wondering why others don’t recognize its nature. Inquisitive, original, futuristic, seeking novelty & needing variety (“will try anything twice”). Free-spirited: psychologically lives outside of convention; but subject to tensions and stiffness from emotional stress.

Moon square Neptune (1°43')
Sensitive – often too much! Tunes into others on an emotional (psychic?) level: can be deeply understanding, genuinely sympathetic, but also emotionally (psychically) vulnerable, easily wounded, with abiding fears of rejection. Self-defense through avoidance (non-confrontation) & slamming shut senses & good sense. Sun semi-square Venus (1°00')
Charming, gentle, fine companion. Strong in friendship. Aesthetic appreciation. Most comfortable in marriage or similar relationship. A little vain.


Mars in Gemini
Bright, inquiring; forthright, decisive (strong opinions). Argumentative (debate, stirs conversation; eloquent?). Pragmatic (not idealistic). Methodical. Scientific mind hones facts, can commit mind to research (scientists). Gains strength from being heard; otherwise over-compensates. (May “know better than anyone else,” need to be right.) Substance abuse.


Mercury in Leo
Bright, takes pride in learning. Derives stature, dignity, and strength from intellect. Refuses to be intimidated by facts. Dislikes “common thinking” and obvious stupidity. Flair for stylish expression; effective communicators. Resourceful.


Venus in Virgo
Intellect & reason as basis of romantic choices (wants to make “good choices”). Companionship as important as Eros. Undemonstrative with affection or attraction. Kind lovers (more devoted than dutiful). Takes life seriously (play isn’t a priority). Matter-of-fact, serving, inclined to help. Usually monogamous, few wander; inclined to conventional relationships.

Venus square Neptune (2°45')
Idealistic, future-looking, longs to be enchanted. Wants things perfect. Can become jaded, disillusioned, and cynical from repeated hurtful betrayals. Emotions run strong. Most sees beauty in people and things, thus has blind spots (especially in romance). Trusting, naturally confident of others’ goodness (poor discrimination in selecting friends). Good-hearted, caretakes others, devoted friends, romantic, humanitarian. Natural people-readers (when not personally involved), natural psychologists.

Thank you Jim. We went over the chart and she finds it interesting, not sure if she’s sold. From my point of view I see a lot of these traits in her, especially the aristocratic one! Haha. Her mother always says she’s always acted like she’s royalty.

The Moon square Neptune seemed to hit be on point, becuase for awhile she’s has been telling me she absorbs people’s emotions which affects her greatly if it’s a negative one.

And it's a Pisces Moon square Neptune, which make it doubly Neptune (since Pisces is of the nature of Neptune). - That's an important observation especially since Moon-Uranus is a (slightly) stronger aspect than Moon-Neptune, taken by itself.

Is this Pisces moon square Neptune considered a negative factor in the chart? Or in otherwords how could she best protect herself (psychically) from emotional disturbances?

It's neither a positive nor negative aspect per se. It's negative only to the extent that it causes her difficulties or is painful. Moon-Neptune, most simply, shows extreme sensitivity but (depending on context) extreme sensitivity can be an enormously advantageous or enormously disadvantageous characteristic.

How to protect herself psychically lies outside of the realm of astrology - there are numerous disciplines or approaches that address this. Astrology stops at describing what's so. In addition to various "shielding" methods that I suspect you know (based on your nom de web). There are more conventional things like proper diet, sufficient rest, integrity in relationships, and of course learning to be more open to the impressions rather than resist them or battle with them. That's all far beyond this forum, though other people may have an idea or two of their own to throw in based on their own path through life.

(Veronica and By Jove have very strong Moon-Neptune aspects and might have a thing or two to share about this.)

Is there any way to analyze two natal charts and determine there compatability with each other? I ask this as I am still learning about Sideral Astrology and I would like to undertake this as an excercise.

One more question Jim and I’ll leave you alone . You obviously have picked up on my other interest and passion from my Nom De Web as you called it. Would Visions and Voices that you authored be something I could understand from an astrological perspective or should I wait till I am more experience with Sidereal Astrology to appreciate the book in its fullness?

I think you could, yes. Go slowly - it won't be a leisure book, but it could be a pleasure book for you. If you have astrological basics in place, you're in good shape (and the book walks you through the main features of the charts as it goes).

I would strongly advise the mundane conventional things Mr. Eshelman allready discussed. Diet and healthy comsumption behaviors, clean whole raw foods and lots of fresh water excersize and fresh air. I would also strongly recommend she keeps a journal that not only tracks her menstrual cycle but her emotional spiritual and physical states each day. A great book to help with that is The Aquarian Goddess.

If I had any advice for you as her partner to help her I would ask that you be aware that she is very sensitive and to not take her moods and feelings personally but to be supportive and understanding that she has very very deep undercurrents that are most likely difficult to express and find language for. By listening attentively and watching body language you can be a huge emotional support to her just by being there and not making her feel more vunerable and at a loss for words

I cannot agree more or stress this enough. Mary my girlfriend has similar issues, compounded by her being on the bipolar spectrum. The one thing I absolutely had to learn about her moods is DON'T TAKE IT PERSONALLY, just love her through it, whatever "it" happens to be today. So how our relationship works these days, is that she is my inspiration and I am her rock. Interesting role for my Pisces Sun. By the way, that's the predominate theme, but we role-reverse with fair frequency, when I inspire her, or she's strong for me when the world is kicking my butt. It may be that your relationship will have some similarities.

I really mulled over in my head what I wished I could have expressed to people in my life and especially my romantic partners how to deal with my sensitivities. It was a major down fall in my last relationship because he was even more so moody then I, and I could see how deeply my moods seemed to effect him, for good and ill.

I appreciate the advice guys, this is more than helpful.

Veronica and Mike, you both hit on a very important point and that is, to not take her moods personally and to just love her through it. I don’t think there is any better advice than that.

Mike, your dynamic with your gf is the same as ours, my GF is also on the bi polar spectrum.

I will relay the advice to her and I will assimilate this advice as well.
