Progs, and cyclical passes of a planet to natal

Hi all,
What I've generally heard about transits to natal planets is that, if there are multiple passes, the transit is effectively considered "live" from the time it enters 1* orb the first time to the time it leaves 1* orb the final time.
Does this apply to secondary progressions as well?
If so, I would imagine some of them could effectively last for close to a person's whole life.

I haven't noticed that this is true, but I understand where the question is coming from.
Admitting that there may be a level at which this is so, I think you will find that your experience of your life is better mapped if you take this not to be true.

For just progs, or transits as well? (I believe you mean the latter)

I meant treat the "from first enter orb to last leaving orb, no matter how many loops" as if untrue for progressions.
For transits (as you've observed in your first post) it certainly seems to be true.

My natal Mercury is 17°21' Libra. Progressed Mercury turned retrograde in 1962 at 20°39' Libra, conjoining natal Mercury from 1968 to 1970 and natal and progressed Saturn 1969 to 1972. It conjoined progressed Sun and Mars in 1973-74.
It squared progressed Jupiter beginning in 12/1978, turned direct while in that aspect in 3/1983 at 4°48' Libra, and exited the aspect February 1988, having spent almost a decade within 1° orb of that one aspect.
Progressed Mercury eventually crossed my natal Saturn again 1994-96, natal Mercury 1996-97, and progressed Venus in 2000-2001. It still hasn't caught up with progressed Sun and Mars again, so we can consider that those were one-shots during retrogradation.
So... was progressed Mercury effectively conjunct natal Saturn from the first time it entered a partile orb in November 1970 until it last left that orb in January of 2000? I think my life over those 30 years does not support that interpretation.

Wow, I see your point!
