Dec 28, 1906, 4:20:26 UT (5:20:26 LT), Messina, Italy
Epicenter: 38N09, 15E41 in the Strait of Messina

The most destructive earthquake ever to strike Europe. Affected Sicily and Calabria. Magnitude 7.1. Almost totally destroyed Messina (Sicily) and Reggio Calabria (Calabria) in the toe. Deaths were at high as 100,000, with 75,000 of them in Messina (abut half its population). A tsunami about 40 feet high, striking 10 minutes after the quake, was responsible for further deaths and damage. Messina lost about half of its population, and most of the city was wasted.

The quake struck as Saturn exactly squared Ascendant (Nadir), square a setting Moon. The solar ingress seem unhelpful though, on close inspection, the Capsolar and Cansolar have aspects significantly closer mundanely that define a narrowed geographic region, even if they do not have anything in the immediate foreground.

Year: Capsolar (Dormant.) Moon-Mars Moon-Neptune.

We see the destruction from that +3 Mars-Saturn Bridge. Ebertin with 'Principle' for Mars-Saturn:
Harmful or destructive energy.
