LONG-TERM (Solar Ingress) PATTERNS
For the United States, the 12 months beginning January 15, 2019 are dominated by Uranus on IC square Sun on Eastpoint. Sun-Uranus signals startling events, which, historically, have included surprise attacks, sudden changes in leadership, and technology breakthroughs.URANUS is most angular (2°36' from IC), predicting explosions (literal or metaphorical), sudden rupture or eruption, shock, surprise, overflowing normal bounds, and disclosures and revelations. Uranian events often have profound social impact to the point of defining the character of an era. SUN (EP 1°53') concentrates attention on the government, especially the head of state, with increased government intervention or heightened perception of government’s presence in people’s lives. Sun's aspects to Uranus and Pluto infer rebellion against present leadership and rejection of prevailing political views. Sun-Pluto brings disrespect for the law or those forces that create it and enforce it, which sometimes means removing those in power.
MERCURY CONJOINS SATURN (2°46') in the foreground. Expect restrictions, delays, failures, or calamity relating to transportation and communication. Information flow is interrupted and rationed. Data integrity is doubted: cybersecurity remains a higher priority than cyber-expansion. Economic narrowing and backtracking on economic recovery interrupt commerce: more newspapers go out of business and more retail businesses close their doors. (In hindsight, it now seems this aspect is related to the tariff-heightening and restrictions on commerce of the year so far.)
Reinforcing the message of economic crisis, a MARS-JUPITER square (2°07') exists only mundanely, i.e., is geographically distinctive to Washington. This crisis could be as slight as a few more government shutdowns or as ravaging as a market crash, but probably will be something between. Resources are squandered and stretched past their capacity. Belief-driven aggression accelerates. Bigots have louder voices. In nature, as in human affairs, expect stormy weather.
MERCURY CONJUNCT PLUTO anticipates major collisions of information, communication, and ideas. This suggests opposing factions in Congress will again engage passionately, unlike the tepid, rigid polarization of recent years. Investigations drill deeply into untapped data to disclose information that changes the prevailing paradigm, reframing how people think. Also, expect cyber attacks, including remote undermining of critical communication and cyber-control networks.
With Saturn in Sagittarius all year, immigration, aviation, elitism, hierarchical economic separation, and nationalism (anti-internationalism) dominate the public discussion.
Arisolar (Apr 15)
Due to a dormant Cansolar in July, the Arisolar remains the Quarter chart for six months, from mid-April until mid-October. It shows great severity. Saturn rises within 0°02' in Washington. Pluto is 2°34' below Ascendant, with Saturn conjunct Pluto. Together, Saturn and Pluto PVP square Moon, with Moon-Saturn partile.
With SATURN RISING so closely, expect loss and deprivation, whether of property or human life. The stock market will falter and the economy narrow. Banks are imperiled. Damage from natural disasters increases. Foremost with this Moon-Saturn-Pluto trio, human cruelty rises, hearts harden, and sadness spreads like a dark cloud. Saturn-Pluto brings dramatic hardships with a sense of irrevocable loss or separation. Moon-Saturn means sacrifice, loss, and sadness. Moon-Pluto emphasizes separation, alienation, and departures. The emotional impact of genocide matches these aspects, though of course other physical outcomes are possible, e.g., the raging of savage abortion conflicts.
MEDIUM-TERM PATTERNS (The Bridge)
Caplunar (May 23)
The Caplunar covers May 23 to June 19, especially the first week, May 23-30. As with the Arisolar (and last month's Canlunar), Saturn and Pluto are conjoined on an angle, Pluto squaring Ascendant 1°17' on one side and Saturn 1°35' on the other; that is, their midpoint is 0°09' from the Zenith.
Therefore, this will be a tough, brutal month. Like the Arisolar, this chart anticipates dramatic hardship with an apocalyptic sense of irreversible loss. Moon square Pluto adds intensity and confrontation. Angular Saturn, in particular, concentrates attention on loss and deprivation, whether of property, dignity, or human life. Especially with the partile (mundane) Moon-Sun square, expect the stock market to fumble, the economy to narrow, and banks to be challenged.
Much of this will come to fruition in the fourth week of the month, under the Liblunar.
Tornadoes, late in their season, still plague the Plains states with Jupiter-Neptune sharing angles. Mars on IC through middle Michigan, just west of the Indiana-Ohio border, and on south, shows hot spots for violence and fires.
Venus crosses a CapQ angle 5/28, which is the only crossing of the week. People will tend to be happy that day: the market goes up, love owns the airwaves, or there is other unusually happy news.
Arilunar (May 30)
The Arilunar covers May 30 to June 6. Mars holds the exact degree of Midheaven. Moon square Pluto is partile in mundo. Both of these aspects hit hard: for example angular Mars plus Moon-Pluto aspects are the two strongest indicators of volcanic eruptions and share many hard-hitting categories of events such as mine disasters, hurricanes, bombs, vehicular disasters, leader deaths and crises, war, and popular uprising. These events give a feel of the type of psychological state the nation will adopt this week.
Unquestionably there is conflict (or, more likely, open warfare) in the nation's capital or, perhaps, between this nation and another. Mars is foreground for a range of hurtful events. High profile deaths by inflammatory illness or violence, notorious shooting incidents where many are killed, significant military and police activity, the inauguration of war, actions causing great violence and damage in the name of war, spikes in the number of fires, and a general air of crisis and assault facing political leaders all are characteristic of angular Mars.
CapQ angles touch Venus 5/31 and Jupiter 6/4. These upbeat signals run contrary to the basic confrontational tone of the week. May 30, though, has Mars on a CanQ angle, just as the martial Arilunar is taking off.
Canlunar (Jun 6)
The Canlunar covers June 6-12. It is as simple as the Arilunar but with a different tone: Mercury is half a degree from Ascendant, Jupiter is more widely foreground, and, of course, we have a close Moon-Pluto aspect.
Essentially, it is a Mercury week. I am certain Mercury will be recognizable in the week's main national events or focus, though the possibilities are so wide that it is difficult to anticipate exactly what they will be. They will center on transportation or communication, to be sure. Perhaps a single document will be at the center of the week's news, or the news media itself will be it's own biggest story. “Special broadcasts,” media events, and incidents that interrupt normal broadcasts for news reports (especially if they take over the airwaves for a long stretch) are all Mercurial.
It's a little late for tornadoes, but this chart also favors news driven by extreme weather with wind as a central feature (though it doesn't have the marks of destruction that would come from, say, a deadly hurricane).
The significant meridian shared by San Francisco, Portland, and Seattle has Pluto exactly on MC, so expect dramatic events and an air of crisis along that line. An intriguing Venus-Neptune intersection in western Kentucky marks the center of a 150-mile radius within which Venus-Neptune events will concentrate; unfortunately, these most often signal a mass killing.
June 6 opens with Jupiter-Neptune on CapQ angles, so a streak of tornadoes may not be out of the question; otherwise, it will highlight another familiar Jupiter-Neptune theme. Mercury and Neptune are angular together 6/10, a day of disorientation, distortion, and genuinely fake (or at least seriously misleading) news.
Liblunar (Jun 12)
The Liblunar covers June 12-19, which will be the most impactful, demanding week of the month. It resembles the Arisolar in many ways, though it is more severe. The nation is in crisis, perhaps even under attack. This could be a chart of war or of an intentional effort to disrupt and destabilize us. There will be great violence, whether by human or nature.
Aspects and angularities have the small, tight orbs that distinguish major events from lesser ripples. Pluto is 0°03 from IC. Saturn squares Ascendant within 0°37' (and opposes Mars within 2°). Moon is 0°38' from Eastpoint. And we have a bit of Mercury. Mundanely, Mars opposes Saturn within 1°02'. and the angular Saturn and Pluto are in orb of conjunction.
We are undermined. Saturn and Pluto are the strongest factors. The type of events they most often share are whirlwind overturning of stability such as hurricanes, 9/11-type attacks, leader deaths and crises, or financial collapses. Without necessarily predicting these exact events, they provide a descriptive tone. Harsh, dramatic tragedies bear a sense of irrevocable loss.
An exactly angular Moon means that these events stir powerful emotional responses among the masses: We feel strongly about what is happening. Abortion or other women's well-being issues likely will be central. Mars opposite Saturn along the meridian underscores the potential for things hateful, hurtful, and destructive.
Mars and Saturn lines mark the areas where hurt will concentrate. One pair of lines moves due north through Florida, nipping eastern Georgia, passing through the Carolinas, touch western Virginia, West Virginia, and eastern Ohio. Another pair also starts in Florida and arcs closer to the coast, again through the Caroiinas and Virginia, plus central Pennsylvania and western New York. Of these areas, the most severe parans cut through Florida.
CapQ angles touch ingress Mars (squared by Mercury) 6/11 and ingress Saturn on 6/15. These days concentrate the week's harshness and hurt.

MEDIUM-TERM PATTERNS (The Bridge)
- Pluto marks the entire month.
- For much of it, Mars partners with Pluto. During these MARS-PLUTO zones, expect violent, ferocious, unleashing of powerful force and conflict. Other primary themes are (1) a broad disrespect of law and (2) various consequences of cumulative stress. The impact on Washington (especially of the third period) will be enormous. Specifically:
- Transiting Mars crosses Capsolar Descendant through May 25 then squares CanQ Moon May 28 to June 1.
- The most severe, extreme period will be with Mars opposite Pluto across the Capsolar EP axis June 18 until the end of the period, peaking June 21.
