USA Mundane Forecast
for the four weeks beginning JUNE 19, 2019
If you are unfamiliar with the methods and interpretations of Sidereal mundane astrology, please see my free book Sidereal Mundane Astrology. (A link to the current edition can be found near the top of the Publications sub-forum.) For standard interpretations, see Chapter 8 of the current (16th) Edition.
LONG-TERM (Solar Ingress) PATTERNS
For the United States, the 12 months beginning January 15, 2019 are dominated by Uranus on IC square Sun on Eastpoint (aspect 0°08' wide in RA). Sun-Uranus signals startling events, which, historically, have included surprise attacks, sudden changes in leadership, and technology breakthroughs.
URANUS (2°36' from IC) forecasts explosions (literal or metaphorical), sudden rupture or eruption, shock, surprise, overflowing normal bounds, and disclosures and revelations. Uranian events often define the character of an era. SUN (EP 1°53') concentrates attention on the government (especially the head of state) with increased government intervention or heightened perception of government’s presence in people’s lives. Sun's aspects to Uranus and Pluto infer rebellion against present leadership and rejection of prevailing political views. Sun-Pluto brings disrespect for the law or those forces that create it and enforce it, which sometimes means removing those in power.
MERCURY CONJOINS SATURN (2°46') in the foreground. Expect restrictions, delays, failures, or calamity relating to transportation and communication. Information flow is interrupted or rationed. Data integrity is doubted: cybersecurity remains a higher priority than cyber-expansion. Economic narrowing and backtracking on economic recovery interrupt commerce. More newspapers and retail businesses close their doors.
Reinforcing the message of economic crisis, MARS square JUPITER exists only mundanely: It is geographically distinctive to Washington. This could be as slight as further government shutdowns or as ravaging as a market crash, but probably will be something between. Resources are squandered, stretched past their capacity. Belief-driven aggression accelerates. Bigots have louder voices. In nature, as in human affairs, expect stormy weather.
MERCURY CONJUNCT PLUTO (2°32' in mundo) anticipates collisions of information, communication, and ideas. This suggests opposing factions in Congress will engage passionately again, unlike the tepid, rigid polarization of recent years. Investigations drill deeply into untapped data to disclose information that changes the prevailing paradigm, reframing how people think. Also, expect cyber attacks, including remote undermining of critical communication and cyber-control networks.
With Saturn in Sagittarius all year, immigration, aviation, elitism, hierarchical economic separation, and nationalism (anti-internationalism) dominate the public discussion.
Arisolar (Apr 15)
Due to a dormant Cansolar in July, the Arisolar is the Quarter chart from mid-April until mid-October. It is a chart of great severity. Saturn rises within 0°02' in Washington. Pluto is 2°34' below Ascendant, so that Saturn conjoins Pluto within 2°32' in mundo. Together, Saturn and Pluto are PVP square Moon, with Moon-Saturn partile.
With SATURN RISING so closely, expect loss and deprivation, whether loss of property or human life. The stock market will falter, the economy will narrow, and banks are imperiled. Damage from natural disasters increases. Foremost, with this Moon-Saturn-Pluto trio, human cruelty rises as hearts harden and sadness spreads like a dark cloud. Saturn-Pluto brings dramatic hardships, sometimes with an apocalyptic sense of irrevocable loss or separation. Moon-Saturn means sacrifice, loss, and sadness. Moon-Pluto, intensifying the rest, emphasizes separation, alienation, and departures. The emotional impact of genocide matches these aspects, though of course other physical outcomes are possible.
MEDIUM-TERM PATTERNS (The Bridge)
Pluto marks the entire month. For much of it, Mars partners with Pluto. Transiting Mars crosses Capsolar angles June 19-30 then squares Capsolar Moon July 14-17. During these two MARS-PLUTO zones, expect violent, ferocious, unleashing of powerful (perhaps explosive) force. Other primary themes are (1) a broad disrespect of law and (2) various consequences of cumulative stress.
SHORT-TERM (Lunar Ingress) PATTERNS
Caplunar (Jun 19) The Caplunar covers June 19 to July 16, especially the first week, June 19-26. Venus, Jupiter, and Neptune ride close to the angles (Venus closest) with Jupiter square Neptune 0°23'. Moon aspects Mercury, Mars, and Pluto.
Two benefics and Neptune angular paint a happy time with focus on recreation and imagination. For example, summer blockbuster movies are surely off to a great start with record-breaking crowds, reality-warping fantasy, and lots of fun. Summer vacations are off and running as well. "School's out" has unusual glee.
In politics, expect a positive (Venus-tinged) expression of Jupiter-Neptune, beginning with stronger social cohesiveness and conviction that people thrive better together than apart. Partisan divisions surely persist, i.e., the cohesion is within shared-interest groups (e.g., labor unions or minority groups) owning news cycles as they seek better conditions. Dominant voices now favor the collective, the group more than the individual, with utopian visions trumping the dystopian for a while. Market optimism fuels expanding markets for two weeks.
Unreasoned optimism, of course, increases vulnerability to disillusionment. These aspects historically have sponsored loss of confidence in failing leadership. Collision may be the keyword of the month - collision of points of view and desires, if not of vehicles. Social cohesion does not mean that warring factions are at peace: Little chance for peace exists as diplomacy falters. Answers are demanded and little quarter given, bringing uncomfortable answers to the surface and reframing how folks think about things.
Jupiter on IC so close to New York City usually means market rises. Neptune sets (square Jupiter) through Philadelphia and surroundings, an eye-catching idealism over Independence Day celebrations. Perhaps the happiest stretches of the country are the Venus lines through Detroit, central Ohio, western Pennsylvania, Charleston, and most of Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
Transiting SUN squares CapQ MC non-stop for the week. CanQ Descendant crosses transiting SATURN 6/22 and solar PLUTO 6/25.
Arilunar (Jun 26) The Arilunar covers June 26 to July 3. It resembles the Caplunar, so the month's main events likely will occur this week or seem smoothly continuous between last week and this week. Differences are few: Jupiter square Neptune continues to dominate (both planets exactly on angles), while Venus is more distantly foreground. A wide Venus-Neptune square joins that mix. Moon closely aspects Mars and Pluto (and, mundanely, Uranus) but not Mercury.
Nearly everything stated about the Caplunar applies here. Additionally, optimism has had time to become more frayed and everyone is feeling more stress at the intensity of circumstances. A sense of emergency builds along with contention, attack, and increased disruption of things people rely on day-to-day. Sadly, Venus-Neptune combinations, especially with such violent Moon aspects, alert us to expect another mass-shooting event, probably by a young, socially alienated perpetrator.
Central Pennsylvania, Virginia, and North Carolina (plus Boston) benefit from the renewed Jupiter lines. The western states, though, catch the Mercury, Mars, Saturn, and Pluto lines, pouring across them like a meteor swarm, with Saturn rising in Los Angeles. Denver is one of the cities exactly on a Mars line, near Mercury.
Transiting SUN still squares CapQ MC all week. Transiting PLUTO is angular 6/27. Transiting MARS and ingress SUN cross together 6/30.
Canlunar (Jul 3) The Canlunar, covering July 3-9, shows a sharp turn from the two weeks prior. Mercury, Uranus, and Mars set the tone of the week, mutually connected (except there is no close Mars-Uranus square). Mercury squares Ascendant (0°45'). Uranus sets (2°42'). Mars squares Ascendant (1°53'). Mercury conjoins Mars 1°47' in mundo and squares Uranus 2°12' in eclipto.
Mercury, therefore, is ringmaster. In addition to the obvious expectation of violent vehicular accidents (especially, but not exclusively, aircraft), these aspects promise a vigorous, combative debate. Mercury-Mars and Mercury-Uranus also show emergency and urgency. Events center around information, especially revelations and discoveries: New information surprises us, alarms us, and sets us in motion with an admirable efficiency. Disclosed information becomes weaponized.
Uranus also has a 0°39' PVP square with Jupiter. The loudest voices in the Mercury-Mars fray are those of future-trending thought fighting for a new social contract, or other elements of social rebellion and collective optimism. We may see new technology that looks and feels like something out of science fiction.
The primary message over this Independence Day holiday is a passionate fight for liberty and truth.
In Southern California (and other areas due north), Venus sooths the hurt from last week's Saturn. A series of planet lines from the Plains to the Appalachians mark the most worrisome areas, e.g., Mars on MC at the longitude of Atlanta. Explosive ferocity arises from a Mars-Uranus intersection near the Virginia-West Virginia border. Florida seems locked between Mars on one side (including Jacksonville) and Mercury on the other (including Miami).
CapQ angles touch ingress SATURN July 3 and 5. Between these two dates, CapQ Ascendant squares URANUS on Independence Day. Transiting SATURN is angular 7/7.
Liblunar (Jul 9) The Liblunar covers July 9-16. Pluto rises (0°25'). Across the horizon, Sun opposes Saturn (0°25') and Pluto. Mercury and Mars (conjunct 0°50') square a non-angular Uranus. Last week's themes are brought forward, but joined with other hard, hurtful patterns of confrontation that mark the irrevocable end of something.
Considering other patterns that have built for months, we cannot ignore the possibility that this angular Sun refers to the president personally, its oppositions to Saturn and Pluto to things that cost, constrain, and damage him (in political or practical ways), and Mercury-Mars-Uranus to legal and rhetorical battles waged, its warriors wielding revelations as their weapons.
Other possibilities exist. Recurring themes this month portray transportation tragedies. Aspects provide the flavor and means of war. These can take many forms; but we can be sure of sad, arduous, costly events, probably laced with death or death-like removals, and that Pluto will make them momentous and high-impact. Hurricanes are possible (considering the time of year and the tendency of Mercury-Mars to show great destructive force of wind). Other themes of these aspects are government gridlock, administrative lockdown, and other restrictive, controlling, or failing leadership that worsens conditions. - The themes are obvious (and we will recognize them in the rear view mirror), though the range of exact possible events is wide.
Los Angeles fares better than most places, with Jupiter rising there (and on a curve up to Billings). A Moon-Neptune intersection through eastern Texas and the Texarkana area brings a wave of powerful emotion and mass uncertainty. Sun-Saturn moves from the Florida panhandle along roughly the western edge of the Appalachians and intersects Uranus at the Alabama-Georgia border. (That panhandle also gets Mercury-Mars and is one of the more vulnerable spot to violence from weather or human this week.) Moon-Pluto concentrates a sense of crisis along most of the East Coast and into New England.
CapQ WP crosses SATURN 7/9. Beginning 7/12, CapQ Ascendant moves within 2° of transiting Mars, a slow contact lasting for weeks and continuing into the month following; but July 13-14, a MARS-URANUS square is explosively, sizzlingly angular and July 15 angular Mars squares Capsolar Moon. These are the most acute days of an acute week. (July 13-14 is a setup for the even more explosive July 24-25; but more about that next month.)
