NOTE: The article said the breakup was at 1:52 AM EST, but the area was on EDT. This still might have been reported correctly.

Crashed into the Atlantic south of Nantucket Island, MA after departing JFK. All 217 people aboard died. The proposed reasons for the crash are complicated and disputed. After going into a dive, the craft broke apart mid-air at about 10,000 feet.

The lunar ingresses make me think that the mystery of the crash is what we see best - with a possible Jupiter-Neptune theme of "misdiagnosis."
