Using Reinhold Ebertin’s book, ‘The Combination of Stellar Influences’ (COSI) with your astrology charts.

Post by SteveS »

This Sept I will have reached 72 years of age and 42 years of experience using COSI. I thought I would pass on some of my experiences using this fine astrological book as a tool for helping navigate one’s life, particularly with one's Natal Chart.

The best feature of this book is the fact it offers ‘tone’ delineations for up to a ‘combination’ of 3 planets, and many times an astrologer has a need to read certain tones for up to a 3 planet combo, particularly in the field of Sidereal Astrology when many times we see Sidereal Astrology charts with multiple planets on/near the angles. This is the main feature of this book, imo, but it has other unique features.

COSI offers: The ‘Principle’ tone for a 2 Planet combo which is specified as a Midpoint between two planets, which imo, can be seen/used the same as an important 2 planet aspect in a chart.

For example: In my Natal Chart I was born with a partile Sun-Uranus 90 in potential Paran Sun rising, Uranus culminating. A Sidereal Astrologer recognizes the importance of aspects with one’s lights, probably the most important aspects in a Natal Chart, particularly those of a partile nature (1 degree or less). Without a doubt, this 2 planet combo of Sun-Uranus in my chart dominates my being in all the different Ebertin COSI ways this aspect can manifest in my life, both positive and negative ways, which Ebertin designates with (+) for positive and (-) for negative with ‘Psychological Correspondence’ and ‘Probable Manifestations.’ But another very cool feature of COSI it offers ‘tone’ delineations for ‘Sociological Correspondence’ and ‘Biological Correspondence,’ two very important Correspondences in one’s life. Let’s take Ebertin’s ‘Biological Correspondence’ for my main Natal Aspect---partile 90 Sun-Uranus:
Rhythmic function of the cells and the body, pulse and breathing. Heart neurosis.
And with the current 2004 printing of COSI it is footnoted:
Under Biological Correspondence it should be noted that Sun/Uranus combinations show a tendency to cardiac embolism if too little care is taken of the health.
Six years ago, with a double whammy of Moon-Saturn (‘classic for health issues) in my SSR, I was diagnosed with a minor ‘Rhythmic’ Heart problem during a Stress Test with an abnormal pulse of 150 beats per minute-- 3 minutes into the stress test with the stress test stopped. Later, during that Moon-Saturn SSR I had to have a minor out- patient procedure to help correct this ‘Rhythmic’ heart issue.

Under my current SSR, the main feature is a 5 degree foreground partile Mars-Uranus 90 and this minor ‘Rhythmic’ heart issue has manifested again—but only in a minor way. Thank goodness for a foreground Jupiter in my current SSR. What does Ebertin say about the ‘Biological Correspondence’ for Mars-Uranus? He states:
The rhythm of activity, activity and work of the heart.

This minor SSR biological issue is being corrected with an increase in dosage of a Beta Blocker, but I am now exploring a new discovery (Sun-Uranus) pertaining to Chinese medicine for improving this rhythmic heart issue with mediation/breathing exercises along with my regular exercise program.

So, as we can see in my case—Ebertin’s ‘Biological Correspondence’ for Sun-Uranus is an enormous value to me with my conscious plans for dealing with a ‘manifested’ Sun-Uranus life issue with my Heart. My wife says my rhythmic heart issue comes from listening to too much loud Rock and Roll music, which has always excited me with a racing dancing heart. :)

More later on my experiences using COSI in an astrological life.
