The horrors of 2021?

We've talked here in the past about likely horrors - for the U.S. and other parts of the world - in 2021. Given the new presidential term immediately after the ugly Capsolar, it seemed political. But this new report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, reported by BBC, gives a much more pessimistic spin on it:
Climate change: 12 years to save the planet? Make that 18 months
https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-48964736
The sense that the end of next year is the last chance saloon for climate change is becoming clearer all the time. There's a growing consensus that the next 18 months will be critical in dealing with the global heating crisis, among other environmental challenges.
Much of the discussion is political as well what we have to do and deadlines for taking action. (It's the deadlines that are looming in the next 18 months, not the end of all life.) Nonetheless, one can expect it to be rough.

It would ne nice if everyone said to themselves....
Screw legislation that takes to long...."I" am going to do everything I can to make a difference.
And then acted accordingly
Tough as that will be for some
Maybe I could take advantage of the remaining influence of my ssr this year and set up a plan to really maximize my next years ssr angulat mars pluto aspect and get some sort of dubble hub motion going......

Sigh. Its too bad the patents for the technology that could quickly solve a lot of issues are in the hands of people who have no interest in developing them.
Like the articles here express....if people didnt have to worry about survival then we could easily shift into other models but there are so many roadblocks to free energy.

Whoever is inaguarated in 2020, they're basically guaranteed to be screwed. Pluto slips into Capricorn during the month of February (it's presence established in 2022). We've discussed this before, but I learned from Kenneth Bowser that the Sun in Capricorn is a sign during when the Sun is transiting it is reflective of fierce conservatives being born. Fierce conservatives like Ben Shapiro, Ronald Reagan, Alex Jones, Glenn Beck, Kelly Ann Conway. I do believe we're undergoing some kind of climate change, but it's nothing on the time scale people like AOC want to scare people about. This has to be politically motivated.

The time frame is from the scientific community, not politicians.
Scientists have been modeling this for years, and we've been warming quicker than the models and releasing more carbon instead of less.
The doubt is financed by $27 Trillion in oil that is already bought and sold, waiting to be pumped. If we burn even a third of that, we won't be able to avoid some pretty awful global warming scenarios.

Please don't lump Ronald Regan in with your "fierce conservatives." I met the man, my grandfather knew him well. He wouldn't put up with Shapiro, Beck, Conway, Jones or any of the rest of those clowns for a minute.

There is also evidence that the poles are moving even faster and the magnetic field of he Earth is weakening much quicker than previously thought. And luckily we have some open minded scientists who are actually taking a look at this and concerned that it may also be affecting the extremes in weather patterns and may have even greater effect when/if the magnetic field weakens more. However, it must be stated that we need a lot more data to fully understand these patterns.
Poles are moving fast

Weakening magnetic field
https://horizon-magazine.eu/article/ear ... -then.html
Is it possibly connected to climate changes?
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6237378
https://phys.org/news/2014-05-earth-mag ... imate.html?
It is thought that the Earth used to have regular pole shifts for about 80 million years, in about 200-300.000 year intervals. But according to NASA it hasn't had one in 780.000 years, so some say it's long due. However, these scientists believe the Earth had a magnetic pole shift and a weakening of the magnetic shield down to 5% of 2012 field strength and they believe the process possibly threw us into an ice age.
https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2 ... 084936.htm
What is remarkable is the speed of the reversal: "The field geometry of reversed polarity, with field lines pointing into the opposite direction when compared to today's configuration, lasted for only about 440 years, and it was associated with a field strength that was only one quarter of today's field," explains Norbert Nowaczyk. "The actual polarity changes lasted only 250 years. In terms of geological time scales, that is very fast." During this period, the field was even weaker, with only 5% of today's field strength. As a consequence, Earth nearly completely lost its protection shield against hard cosmic rays, leading to a significantly increased radiation exposure.
Whether the pole shift 41.000 yrs ago was a full shift or partial shift, they think they know that pole shifts or partial pole shifts can happen within a human life, it can take hundreds of years or even up a thousand or a couple of thousands of years. But it seems like not enough scientists know enough about the totality of the effects it can have since we lack data. But to assume that a very weak magnetic shield that is not in its full capacity to protect the Earth from solar and cosmic rays will not affect life on Earth and even climate is imo highly unintelligent, I would go as far as calling it stupidity.

Do you guys want to help Mother Earth?
Should we go out and plant trees or support groups that are planting trees?

I dont know what other people should or should not do.....but I have always thought that the more trees the better......lots of awsome reasearch that show that trees are communal and communicate with each other.
I espicially feel that people who live in areas that have been deforested and clear cut.....ie India....Indonesia...would thrive better if they had more trees....but trees that are indigenous, and also a diverse selection, esp. Trees that flower.

Individual effort won't make a dent in this. (It's still good, minutely contributes to the problem not getting worse and, mostly, sets collective minds in the right direction.)
At this point it requires massive coordinated efforts by nations, or at least by one or two nations. There are a couple things - expensive, but not overwhelmingly expensive - that could reverse global warming significantly within a couple of years, but we're running out of time. A couple of hundred billion dollars, applied in the right, could AFAIK still make a big enough difference.

Individual effort won't make a dent in this.
The things I posted above are not "individual effort" - but rather a growing movement of people all around the Earth in the thousands who are planting trees all over the globe.
Never underestimate the power of the masses when they truly start caring about something.

It's too late for planting trees to make a dent.
Planting trees, even if a group is doing it, is individual effort.
We need to get large governments on board, like China and Russia. And the US. We need to get this government turned around. First we need to get rid of Trump and McConnell and get rid of the judges they've packed onto our courts.

Two things governments could do that would make a dramatic difference, according to people who have spent their lives studying this sort of thing. They seem off the beaten track, not what people like to talk about, but actually are affordable, the technology is in hand, and they/d make a difference.
One in the WILL make a difference category: Paint every roof in the U.S. white. (Other countries also, but we can control what we do here.) The real nature of the problem isn't the greenhouse gases, it's what the greenhouse cases then cause, which is the amplification of retention of sunlight. If every roof were white, the increase in reflection would offset the planetary heating dramatically and might be enough to reduce it without further steps. If all new road pavement in the country were required to be with lighter-colored materials (not high-heat-absorbent black), it would supplement this. (The idea is so stupid simple that people don't take it seriously, other than the scientists who worked out the math.)
One in the MAY make a difference category: Antarctica's ice shelf has been deteriorating. The more it melts, the less white reflectivity we have and the higher the seas rise. This recently accelerated a lot. An idea just floated (the science part has been done except I don't think the equipment and cost factors have been done for the scope of the project) is to use numerous industrial-scale snow blowers to shore up the existing ice shelf and reseal it. (Larger blocks melt much more slowly than smaller pieces, as you can tell from ice in your glass this summer.) It might take hundreds of snow-blowers
These are doable. It only takes political will, a commitment by one or more governments that this is a crisis and the most serious one we face, and then moving on it. Denying the rapidly accelerating death spiral of climate change will kill us (and is already killing people). Solutions like those above would buy us a few more years to manage the more economically and politically charged areas of the bigger, more permanent changes needed.

Prince Charles IMO is one of the most broadly educated and well connected people on this planet and has dedicated his life a dream he called....an sustainability revolution.....
I would like to think that he is aware of the truth and reality and is using his influence to bring about a positive outcome.
But yes....if the Asian continent does not get on board it will be very hard to pull off.
And IMO I dont think Russia or China care one bit.
In fact a very deep part of me thinks that they would like the horrors to befall.

In some science fiction works state that the change of magnetic poles is a catastrophe that will erase all life from the surface of the planet. This is absolutely not true. When poles are changing some not very pleasant phenomena will occur, but this should not greatly affect the Earth itself, civilization, and even the strength of your morning coffee. Just at the moment of the polarity change, the Earth's magnetic field will significantly weaken, opening access to the planet's surface for streams of harmful charged particles from the Sun and from the depths of space. Cathy Jordan, the scientist at Cornwell University, said the earth's atmosphere is thick and dense enough to absorb these particles and protect the surface.

Welcome to Solunars, Eva. Thanks for your post.
You are correct: Earth's poles have been slightly shifting all along (more like "wandering"), and even a pole-reversal wouldn't be catastrophic to life. It wo9uld cause enormous chaos and some damage. For example, I suspect all satellite tracking would be temporarily impacted, which alone would cause serious problems, including GPS offline for a while. Magnetic media would be vulnerable (and that now includes most of our information storage). I would worry about electrical grids. But, after some initial chaos, this would stabilize reasonably well, I think.
It's not like Earth itself is flipping around 180°. It's just a magnetic pole flip.
I'm not nearly as concerned about this as about behaviors of people over the next few months.
