The Russian nuclear submarine Kursk exploded and sank in the Barents Sea off Murmansk Oblast. The second of two explosions registered on seismographs as 4.2 on the Richter scale. (The first explosion was a Richter 1.5 at 69N38, 37E19. The coordinates given above are for the second blast.)

All 118 people aboard died.

The cause was a bad weld in one torpedo case, allowing peroxide leaks that ignited the torpedo's kerosene, which blew off both ends of the torpedo tube, started a fire, caused structural damage, and killed the control room crew. The fire then ignited other torpedo warheads about two minutes later, causing the second, large explosion. (Fortunately, the nuclear reactor powered down safely.)

Apparently because it wasn't immediately evident that there was a problem, it was six hours before a search was started, 16 hours before the sub was located, and seven days before the hatch was opened. The Russian government covered up the matter for most of that week, only accepting international help on the fifth day.

Your above words spoke to me with my opinion for high % a prominent Neptune event reflected in the Sidereal Mundane Astrology charts and then my eyes saw this.

Whenever I see a planet partile conjunct a Capsolar angle, imo, it will be a very prominent symbolic influence for any possible newsworthy event for the solar year for a given location. IMO, the most potent/dominating symbolic influence which can occur with a Sidereal Mundane Astrology chart are planets partile/tight conjunct a Capsolar (Master Chart of the Year) primary angle, and then transiting outer planets partile conjunct a primary Capsolar angle. Then second,—the same for a Cansolar.

I think Neptune for the cover-up is exactly dead-on, especially since that's the angularity for Moscow rather than the event site. Good catch!

Neptune for "submarine" (water etc.) itself doesn't match other submarine disasters. When the USS Thresher imploded and sank it was primarily a Uranus event at the site, though for DC it was more violent, emotional, and "What do we do about this?" (One key Neptune: on Week chart IC for Washington; but mostly Pluto with Mars elements.)

When the USS Scorpion sank (with many unresolved mysteries still around it), there was no Neptune involvement at the site, which was Saturn more than anything. For Washington it was a mix of malefics with more Mars and Saturn than anything (but quite a mix).

I understand. I can only assume from a DC local psychological standpoint, there was much more destructive/depressive (Mars-Saturn) psychological feelings than the psychological feelings for 'unresolved mysteries' of Neptune. Still, IMO, there is nothing more symbolically-psychologically potent in Sidereal Mundane Astrology or Genethlical Astrology than a planet, particularly an outer planet, partile mundo conjunct a primary chart angle, or partile transit on a primary angle. I incorporated this importance into my personal practice by learning from your "Aspect Orbs" segment in your book 'Interpreting Solar Returns' where you stated:

...closer aspects are stronger than wider aspects. The extent of partility (exactness) determines priority.

Since we know we are working with near exact (within a few seconds of arc) astronomical positions of angles with Sidereal Mundane Astrology charts, I strictly apply your above words on 'aspect orbs' with the primary angles for Sidereal Mundane Astrology charts. This guideline for my mundane work is my main reason I am most concerned with DC's 2021 Capsolar with mundo Mars 00,29 conjunct MC, partile 90 Saturn for a Mars-Saturn (destructive) 'outstanding incident'-- with an approaching partile t. Saturn on DC's 2021 Capsolar Dsc for a couple of months. I have looked at all of DC's history of Capsolars and DC's 2021 Capsolar is very worrisome to me pertaining to my personal guidelines for my mundane astrological work. But I digress and should save this discussion later for the 2021 Capsolars topic.

There are a few other events that are dramatically shrouded in mystery long after they occurred, and where Neptune is a main player. My favorite is the St. Valentine's Day Massacre. It's practically mythic!
