She was brought up in a commune, which is a rare thing in Iceland. She was already known as a singer as a child in Iceland.
Take a look at a few pictures of her, she often has her face painted in very artistic ways and sometimes wares a mask or peculiar, original clothing.
She always has an original way of expression, not only in music, but also the way she speaks. She has a very childish voice and appearance, although she is 50 yrs old this month. She also comes across as a dreamy kind of person that you could imagine being able to transcend into her world of imagination and just spend her life there. BUT it should be noted that she does not have drug or alcohol issues, she is rather known for not using them. She never gave into any kind of pressure, that many female popstars get, of being objectified as a sex object and is not viewed as such. She is rather just loved and admired for her originality.
