USA Mundane Forecast
for the four weeks beginning NOVEMBER 30, 2019
If you are unfamiliar with the methods and interpretations of Sidereal mundane astrology, please see my free book Sidereal Mundane Astrology. (A link to the current edition can be found near the top of the Publications sub-forum.) For standard interpretations, see Chapter 8 of the current (16th) Edition.
LONG-TERM (Solar Ingress) PATTERNS
For the United States, the 12 months beginning January 15, 2019 are dominated by Uranus on IC square Sun on Eastpoint (0°08' wide in RA). Sun-Uranus signals startling events such as surprise attacks, sudden changes in leadership, and technology breakthroughs.
URANUS forecasts explosions (literal or metaphorical), sudden rupture or eruption, shock, surprise, overflowing normal bounds, and revelations. Uranian events often define the character of an era. SUN concentrates attention on the government (especially the head of state) with heightened perception of government’s presence in people’s lives. Sun's aspects to Uranus and Pluto infer rebellion against present leadership and rejection of prevailing political views. Sun-Pluto brings disrespect for the law or those that create or enforce it (which sometimes means removing those in power).
MERCURY CONJOINS SATURN in the foreground. Expect restrictions, delays, failures, or calamity in transportation and communication. Information flow is interrupted or rationed. Data integrity is doubted: cybersecurity remains a higher priority than cyber-expansion. Economic narrowing and backtracking on recovery interrupt commerce. More newspapers and retail close their doors.
Reinforcing the message of economic crisis, MARS square JUPITER exists only mundanely, making it geographically distinctive to Washington. This could be as slight as further government shutdowns or as ravaging as a market crash, but probably will be something between. Resources are squandered, stretched past capacity. Belief-driven aggression accelerates. Bigots have louder voices. In nature, as in human affairs, expect stormy weather.
MERCURY CONJUNCT PLUTO anticipates collisions of information, communication, and ideas. Perhaps opponents in Congress will engage passionately again, unlike the tepid, rigid polarization of recent years. Investigations drill deeply into untapped data to disclose information that reframes how people think. Cyber attacks include remote undermining of critical communication and cyber-control networks.
With Saturn in Sagittarius all year, immigration, aviation, elitism, hierarchical economic separation, and nationalism (anti-internationalism) dominate the public discussion.
Libsolar (Oct 18)
Sun square Pluto dominates the Libsolar. Sun on MC (0°27') and Pluto on EP (1°00') are square (0°48' in right ascension). Repeated Sun-Pluto motifs include removal of or assault on those in power, rebellion against prevailing political views, and an element of disrespect for and disobeying the law. In the current political climate, with Sun's prominence exactly on Midheaven, the most likely expression is an effort to topple the United States' current Chief Executive. This is not the only possibility, of course: Sun-Pluto aspects are common for bombs, wars, high-impact national disasters, and anything that circumvents the odds to upend expectation with a common theme of law-breaking or operating outside the bounds of conventional behavior.
Additionally, Moon opposes Jupiter (0°34'). This is difficult to reconcile with Sun-Pluto. As it affects the whole world, it may mean an upward surge in markets or a singular diplomatic success of far-reaching importance. Within the U.S. political landscape, I suspect it means cronyism, wherein elitism offers protection and advantage to the few. Moon-Jupiter's most common themes are "our people (nation, group) first!"
MEDIUM-TERM PATTERNS (The Bridge)
SHORT-TERM (Lunar Ingress) PATTERNS
Caplunar (Nov 30) The Caplunar covers November 30 to December 27, especially the first week, November 30 to December 2-10. The chart is borderline dormant, with Mercury 3°02' from Ascendant. It probably contributes little other than to keep the press active and uncovered data flowing. Though Moon conjoins Pluto in mundo, it is also wide (3°32'); this adds dramatic intensity.
Hardest hit areas are mostly in the West, with Saturn and Pluto lines through western states (including Saturn square Asc right through Los Angeles). Mars (and, somewhat, Uranus) flows through the Plains states. (See the maps.)
CapQ EP conjoins JUPITER 12/3, a day that otherwise has suggestions of great violence and conflict: Perhaps Jupiter shows the context and conditions of these? JUPITER-NEPTUNE then own CapQ angles 12/4-8. On Sunday, December 1, the progressed Cansolar Moon-Mars opposition crosses CanQ meridian for the greatest concentration of this aspect.
Arilunar (Dec 7) The Arilunar covers December 7-14. Its message is blunt: The president is at risk. Sun is 0°12' from Descendant, putting focus generally on the functioning of central government and the dignity and identity of the nation as a whole but - given its closeness - particularly refers to the person and office of the president. Sun squares both Neptune (0°29') and Mars (2°48' PVP). Mars-Neptune combinations linked to solar influences are historically the most harmful to those in power. Insidious attack assails him this week.
Sun square Neptune is the week's main theme. Events under this aspect are characteristically chaotic and disorienting, maelstrom-like and often ferocious. Its main effect (fueled by Mars) is likely tornado-like swirl, our minds a-spin. Sun-Neptune combinations nurture an air of secrecy or mystery and a love of drama, music, fantasy, mysticism, and general surrealism. Uncertainty of facts encourages unusually active imagination.
Mercury, 1° from Westpoint, concentrates focus by the press. Moon exactly conjunct Uranus (0°56' in mundo) contributes disclosures, revelations, and enough shifting ground that we are in constant adaptation and adjustment mode.
Saturn, Uranus, and Moon lines intertwine on a path from Idaho down to Arizona, which is unstable and disruptive. Mars-Pluto intersect near Billings. Mars on Dsc continues exactly through Denver and then through western Texas. Venus-Saturn-Pluto square Ascendant drapes along the West Coast.
CapQ angles still touch JUPITER-NEPTUNE for a couple of days, and then cross CanQ angles the last two days, suggesting entertainment themes and courtroom drama, among other possibilities.
Canlunar (Dec 14) The Canlunar covers December 14-20. From confusion and flaming fireballs we switch to heart-breaking loss. Great love is in the air mingled with the sadness of irreversible separation.
Venus (on MC 0°36') and Moon (on IC 2°57') are most angular and in close opposition; but Mars, Saturn, Uranus, and Pluto join them, more widely foreground. The first two make plain that we strongly feel what is happening - events evoke unusually intense feeling responses arising through our herd-mind, the collective heart of the nation. The other planets show the types of emotions and surrounding events.
Uranus squares Pluto (0°15' in mundo), marking a transition, a revolutionary remapping of prevailing realities, and tearing down iconic structures. Moon squares Mars (1°05' in mundo) in a month loaded with multiple Moon-Mars aspects, loudly shouting about aggression, violence, fire, blood-spilling, accidents, and all-round damage. Mars/Uranus 0°12' from the horizon says these events are explosive, fiery, perhaps expressing startling violence or at least surprise assault. Moon opposite Pluto (3°10' wide with their midpoint 0°27' from the meridian) underscores the intensity and separation.
Venus' aspects then say more about the feelings. Venus conjunct Pluto (1°24') and Venus conjunct Saturn (3°49') speak of love + loss. The former (and closer) especially describes dramatic changes in relationships (in national alliances and antipathies) and final, stark severing of emotional ties as in loss of loved ones and the destruction of homes and community on a scale that stuns sensibilities. Saturn conjunct Pluto (2°24') makes its first appearance on ingress angles for Washington.
Venus-Saturn-Pluto lies drape over two large areas in the eastern half of the country. See the maps below for details.
VENUS themes are most pronounced 12/15-16 as CapQ Ascendant crosses (on 12/15 transiting Mercury conjoins Venus on CapQ Asc). NEPTUNE on a CanQ angle 12/16 may mark this week's day of overwhelming mass response and emotional chaos.
Liblunar (Dec 20) The Liblunar covers December 20 to January 4 (due to a dormant Caplunar following it). Mercury-Neptune sets the tone: both planets are closely angular and they are square (1°31'). While Mercury-Neptune broadly connotes confusion, disorientation, and bad (confused) choices, its strongest characteristic is uncertainty in the form of wondering, “What’s next?” or, “What happens now?” When this strong, it usually means that something significant has happened - perhaps the events of last week's Canlunar? - which has suspended people's certainty about the near future.
There is a sense of tragedy or the shadow of pending tragedy: Moon forms close mundane squares with Pluto (0°14') and Saturn (1°30'). It seems people do not know what to make of loss.
Other Mercury-Neptune themes include impairment of transportation and communication routes.
JUPITER-NEPTUNE again crosses CapQ angles 12/22-23 with more disorienting NEPTUNE on Christmas Day.

MEDIUM-TERM PATTERNS (The Bridge)
- Pluto conjoins Capsolar EP all month. Its distinct effects will be reflected in its combinations.
- CanQ Moon opposes Cansolar Mars essentially all month (until 12/26). Worldwide, we will see accelerated hostilities, friction, communication breakdowns, warring incompatibilities, violence, flood, fire, death, and a heightened sense of emergency.
- Jupiter conjoins Cansolar EP for the first two days then conjoins Capsolar Ascendant 12/12 to the end. During the entire time it overlaps with Pluto and, except for the final day, with Mars. This MARS-JUPITER-PLUTO zone, active most of the month, anticipates several kinds of phenomena, including economic swings (dramatically high-cost or loss at one extreme and enthusiastic competition and productivity at the other). I expect a record-breaking Christmas retail season because people are in the mood to recklessly spend. Mars-Jupiter-Pluto suggests high political impact, assaults on those in power or with titles, and significant legal (court) actions or outcomes.
- Three MARS transits, all affecting the world in general and not just the U.S., multiply the martial intensity - likelihood of aggression, violence, fire, blood-spilling, accidents, and all-round damage - for parts of the month. Mars opposes Capsolar Moon December 1-4, overlapping slightly with Mars opposite CanQ Moon December 3-6. Then, Mars opposes CapQ Moon December 19-22.
- MARS' most intense period is December 3-4: three Mars bridge aspects exist at once. Much of the month, at least two exist at once.
- Nov 30. Pluto Jupiter Mars.
- Dec 1. Pluto Jupiter Mars x2.
- Dec 2. Pluto Mars x2.
- Dec 3-4. Pluto Mars x3.
- Dec 5-6. Pluto Mars x2.
- Dec 7-11. Pluto Mars.
- Dec 12-18. Pluto Jupiter Mars.
- Dec 19-22. Pluto Jupiter Mars x2.
- Dec 23-26. Pluto Jupiter Mars.
- Dec 27. Pluto Jupiter.
