Beltway Sniper Attacks

This is an experiment to see what we can find for an impactful event spread over a long period of time.

Ten people died and three more were injured in a series of coordinated sniper shootings (two snipers), primarily October 2-24, 2002 (with some earlier shootings February 16 to September 26, 2002 in seven states from Arizona to Florida, killing seven other people). These were roughly centered on Washington, DC but spread out to include parts of Maryland and Virginia. (The deaths are usually described as Baltimore-Washington deaths.)

During the three weeks in October, the first shooting was October 2, 2002, at 5:20 PM, just outside DC in an unincorporated part of Maryland (no death or injury), as Pluto crossed MC. An hour later, at 6:30 PM in Wheaton, MD, the first death occurred (under a chart where the mundoscope is necessary to get the full impact of the moment).

I'll use this as a starting time, but center everything on the effectively indistinguishable Washington, DC.

The attacks ended when the shooters were arrested October 24, 2002, 3:15 AM.
