How wonderful it would have been to have a reliable birth time for Grace Jones or David Helfgott, (Helfgott was even married to an astrologer, but it seems there was no recorded time because the only one we have is her rectification.) But we are rewarded with Malcolm X. (Pete Townshend was a finalist: a lot of exceptional musical people on this one date.) As usual, women are harder to find and I've pulled the best example I can locate, but Lorraine Hansberry is a remarkable example (even though her name is less recognizable than her work) - for her 1930 Chicago birth and the time arising from a hospital birth certificate, I'm presuming CST, not CDT. (The chart looks much better to me taking this as CDT, but hospitals were required to record in CST at the time.)

I have a question with the three luminaries above, can I define the core of this chart as a Venus, Mars, and Mercury personality?

Mars is on angular on the decedent and trines Saturn 3.10' A.

From this, yes, in a sense. I'd define the personality more in terms of the angularity - which is striking in this particular chart - but let's go with your approach for the moment.

A small technical correction; Mars isn't a luminary. That term is reserved exclusively for Sun and Moon. It's an important planet by sign, but I wouldn't put it at the same strength as Sun and Moon (just stronger than all the others). So, I'd rely on the Aries and Taurus descriptions primarily, and back them by Gemini. So yes, you could say from this perspective that Venus and Mars (or, for Aries I would say Pluto instead of Mars) describe the basic personality patterns.

I'd describe him, though, as primarily a Moon-Mars-Pluto type (supported by Mercury). For angularity, we find:

Mars 2°18' before Dsc
Moon 2°50' before IC
Pluto 3°37'' before Dsc
Mercury 7°12' before IC

Not only are Moon, Mars, and Pluto the most angular planets (supported by Mercury), but we have important, close, angular hard Moon-Mars-Pluto aspects: Moon square Mars 0°32', Mars conjunct Pluto 0°47', and Moon square Pluto 1°19'. These describe his life, work, and legacy quite powerfully. (His Taurian heart was compassionate and he seems to have viewed himself as a caretaker, but his life was a stream of violence and his message favored power and social segregation over nonviolence and social integration.)

Your list of aspects was good. You might given the aspects and orbs you used, you might have included Mars semi-square Neptune 1°36' (aside from the important mundane aspects mentioned above).

I am also noting:

Venus in Taurus. Venus at home in Taurus.

Good catches. I also, glancing at the chart, thought these were important. While his Aries Moon and angular Moon-Mars-Pluto is consistent with his juvenile and young adult criminal behavior, his preaching of separation and the acquisition of power, and his life climaxed in violence, there was also nobility and dignity in him. The Saturn in Libra and Jupiter in Sagittarius struck me, at first look, like the chart of a king (even though everyone born for a year had these two placements). Venus in Taurus adds to the picture.

Mostly this was said above, but to reiterate...

Malcolm X's mundoscope is stunning. In terms of aspects, one is tempted to say that the mundoscope alone defines the essential events and outward self-expression of his life. In the foreground, Moon squares a Mars-Pluto conjunction (partile to both of them, and Mars-Pluto itself being 1°19'). Additionally, Sun squares Uranus. That's it! - and that's really all you need.

None of these aspects appears in his horoscope (ecliptically). We do, however, find the enormously descriptive luminary pair of Taurus Sun and Aries Moon.

Jim, I stated this a few weeks ago and will state again: I beleive your observation about mundane aspects haveing more to do with outward events is true.
