About 10 PM local time July 1, 2016, in the diplomatic enclave in Dhaka, Bangladesh, 8 to 9 gunmen entered the Holey Artisan Bakery, a restaurant, taking 60 - 80 people hostage. Likely westerners are among those being held, but it was just announced 100% of Americans under the authority of the US State Department have been accounted for.

Extremist groups in the area have been attacking and killing gays and lesbians in the area, but it isn't known what the purpose of these gunmen is.

Update: About 7 AM local time*, the siege was ended by the police storming the place. At least 14 hostages rescued, at least five bodies left inside, one terrorist captured, all the rest killed. It appears most workers from the restaurant were able to get out during the night, and there were maybe 20 hostages at the end. There are also reports of at least 34 people taken to the hospital throughout the night.

*7 AM is my attempt to covert about 10 PM Eastern Time which was what was reported, to local time. It was full daylight at the time.

Next up on the Moon-Saturn / Moon-Pluto tour...

At least 23 are dead and 61 wounded from an "early Sunday" explosion of bombs in "two crowded commercial areas" in Baghdad. One was a car bomb in central Bagdad, killing 18. Another explosive went off soon after in eastern Baghdad, killing 5 more. ISIL is expected to claim responsibility.

LATER. That number from the suicide car bomb is now 121 dead. This is being labelled ISIL's "worst ever bomb attack in Baghdad." Many burned to death "as subsequent fires consumed cafes and stores" (Washington Post). Another 212 people were injured in the other explosion. I can't find a time better than "shortly after midnight," so perhaps 0:30 AM is suitable.

Other explosions were triggered in the Detroit suburb of Melvindale, MI. At 2:30 AM this morning, a driver crashed into a natural gas main, triggering a gas explosion and consequent inferno that "forced the evacuation of thousands" and "could be felt as far as Canada." A three-story building caught fire. About 1,500 people were evacuated out of the surrounding area.

Only the driver was injured.

Suitable for explosions, the CAPSOLAR has Uranus rising < 2°. The ARILUNAR, in addition to the universal partile Moon-Uranus conjunction, has Pluto half a degree above Ascendant and Venus even closer to Descendant - Venus and Pluto being opposed 0°14' in mundo.

For the day, we know that there is now a partile Moon-Pluto progressed square in the CapQ, and a Moon-Saturn in the CanQ. That CanQ Moon-Saturn square was exactly angular:

2°32' Leo - p. Moon
2°35' Leo - p. MC
3°29' Sco - p. Saturn

Finally, transiting Neptune and Saturn are aspecting the Cansolar's own angles - with Neptune being only a minute away! And the whole thing was triggered by Moon, only 9' from the Saturn/Neptune midpoint.

Been a lot of bombings in the middle East today, July 4th, the last day of Ramadan. Most of these bombings have been timed to hit just after sunset, at the end of the fasting.

Some poor sod blew himself up at the security office outside the Prophet's Mosque in Medina, the second holiest shrine in the Muslim faith according to people who probably know. Two security guards and the bomber were killed. From what I can guess from Twitter, this bombing occurred about 7:15 PM in Medina.

The BBC said "The bomber detonated his device as security officers were breaking their Ramadan fast, al-Arabiya TV said."

According to BNONews "The incident happened just after 7:15 p.m. local time on Monday when a car exploded near the Prophet's Mosque, causing large plumes of smoke that were visible from far away. At least three blasts were heard, according to witnesses."

I think this is the big one Daesh has been trying for, and I think it's going to hurt Daesh very badly. They have already foolishly claimed credit.

It's particularly bad for ISIL because their official claim is that they aren't hurting Sunnis, only Shiites (and infidels, of course).

There have been a lot of Sunnis killed by these bomb in the last few days.

As of Friday, July 1, Virginia's marriage law changed. Previously, a girl under 13 could marry if she had parental consent and was pregnant. Now, parents and pregnancy are both out of the equation, with a new law that sets marriage eligibility at age 18, or at 16 if the minor is emancipated.

Like most of the East Coast, Virginia (based on the ingress for Richmond) has an Arilunar with Moon-Uranus partile conjunct and exactly square Ascendant, and a foreground Venus-Pluto mundane opposition (0°11' for Richmond).

James Comey, director of the FBI said there was no criminal intent, after examining over 30,000 emails and digging up fragments of additional emails she'd deleted (which he said right out loud like people do cleaning out their email accounts) there were 110 that had some classified material.
What percent is 110/30,000?

Loretta Lynch issued a statement on the Justice Dept webpage at 5:03 PM, July 7, 2016 in Washington DC. It said:

“Late this afternoon, I met with FBI Director James Comey and career prosecutors and agents who conducted the investigation of Secretary Hillary Clinton’s use of a personal email system during her time as Secretary of State. I received and accepted their unanimous recommendation that the thorough, year-long investigation be closed and that no charges be brought against any individuals within the scope of the investigation.”

So it's over except for the screaming coming from Congress.

Considering that we are in an unusually malefic lunar ingress, under an especially severe Bridge... this may be the most benign, pleasant news we get all week

(Especially since CanQ angles move through ingress Saturn and Neptune most of the rest of the week, being exact Thursday.)

According to "a former prosecuter with intimate knowledge of the players" talking to a NJ newspaper, the guy who could have tied Christie to BridgeGate has pled guilty to one count, and won't be cooperating with the government. This makes Christie available as Trump's running mate.

So people seeking office are being brought out from under the threat of prosecution, rightly or wrongly, and not entirely without some mud sticking to them, this week.

July 5, 2016, about 12:35 AM, Baton Rouge, LA: Police responded to a call with an encounter than ended in the fatal shooting of a local black man. In the day or so since, Baton Rouge has been the site of street protests that, as of this morning, were being reported as still building.

In the ARISOLAR, Uranus relieves dormancy with a close Eastpoint contact. This opens the chart to reading - see the mundoscope - with a close Sun-Uranus conjunction rising square Pluto at MC (all mundane aspects, all very close). Riots are no surprise, therefore.

The LUNAR INGRESSES were mentioned in this month's predictions. The Caplunar has Neptune at MC squared by Saturn. The Canlunar has Mars setting. Tragedy and violence, and totally anticipatable (because I anticipated it in writing).

The CapQ seems way off: Ingress Jupiter is exactly on Eastpoint. OTOH we have the progressed Moon-Pluto square dominating present times. At least the CanQ has transiting Mars square MC, and crossing Cansolar Ascendant in the days ahead.


LATER: At 9:04 AM PDT, NY Times announced that the Justice Department has opened a civil rights investigation into this shooting.

A Category 5 hurricane is expected to hit Taiwan tomorrow - which is bad enough (only three hurricanes that big hit the U.S. in the 20th Century) - but meteorologists are also oohing and aahing overthis one because its size and shape are so esthetically perfect.

CNN mentions that heavy flooding and power outages are expected for for3 million households, and emergency services are already revving up.

Major hurricanes are especially by Pluto and the three malefics (in order of frequency: Pluto, Saturn, Mars, Neptune, plus some Sun as a chaser), with Moon aspects to Saturn and Pluto most common; plus, especially in the Caplunar, we see the rain planets. Venus, by angularity and Moon aspect, is least present. Saturn-Neptune aspects appear prominent for many of them.

What do we see in the charts for Taipei?

CAPSOLAR. Mars rises. (It's 3°02' off Ascendant for Taipei, and otherwise the Capsolar is dormant. It is surely in orb for parts of the country.)

CANSOLAR. Well, if we don't get to count Mars from the Capsolar, we get it from the Cansolar. Mars rises (2°28'), Pluto sets (2°57'), windy Mercury rises (0°01'!!), and the Mars-Pluto opposition is only 29' wide.

CAPLUNAR. Pluto sq. MC (0°11'), Sun and Venus closely set (Venus is the rain), and we have the universal Moon-Uranus square.

CANLUNAR. And, to make a perfect chart set for this "perfect storm," Saturn squares MC (1°36'), Neptune is 2°50' from the IC, the universal Moon-Uranus square becomes a 0°15' mundane square for Taipei, and Saturn-Neptune are only 0°59' from exact square. Sheesh!

Among daily indicators, we already know we have the two lunar aspects: There's a progressed Moon-Pluto square in the Capsolar and a progressed Moon-Saturn in the Cansolar. Additionally, Mars is on the CapQ Descendant. Sun-Mercury-Pluto align along the Cansolar horizon.

In the current Caplunar, Saturn is on WP at longitude 93W02, and squares MC at longitude 90W36.

Just my opinion...It could be black anger boiling over, but it could also be a white supremist attempt to start that "race war" they're so fond of the idea of.

A state of emergency has been declared in Tennessee. Heavy rains last night have caused flooding, and more rain is expected. The Nashville area was especially afflicted. Kentucky had some of the same, with heavy rains and harsh winds.

For Nashville, the Capsolar has Jupiter partile conjunct IC and Venus partile conjunct Ascendant - the two most pro-precipitation planets, exactly in the chart where we expect them. With a dormant Canlunar, the Week chart in force is the Arilunar with Pluto partile rising, 0°14' (in mundo) from opposition to a slightly setting Venus. In both cases, Sun was the third most angular planet.

In this month's forecast, under the Caplunar, I wrote: "Jupiter passes through Indianapolis and other places due north and south, including central Kentucky and Tennessee, and mid-Alabama. Great fortune, great celebration, opportunity for profit, and abundant rain occur, among other Jupiter considerations."

I also cited the Venus-Pluto for "western Kentucky, Tennessee," etc., without any comment other than the generic remark that the "Other Locations" notes should be read according to the standard interpretations in SMA.

Sigh... I knew this would be a bad week for the country overall. The Bridge. The Canlunar.

Dallas, at the Year level, looks more prosperous and benevolent than anything, but, as of the Arisolar, it did bring Sun and Uranus to Ascendant to shake things up a bit. The CANLUNAR has Mars setting < 3°.

The DAY factors start with the CapQ having ingress Jupiter exactly rising, and Venus conjunct IC. This isn't what we expect for this event. Ah, but here it is: Transiting Mars conjoins Capsolar MC. (And, of course, we are in the time of progressed Moon-Pluto in the Capsolar and progressed Moon-Saturn in the Cansolar.)

Damn it all.

(Half an hour later:) An eleventh officer shot in Dallas.

Suicide attack in Baghdad killed 26, wounded 52. Three dead fourteen wounded in Bangladesh when officers guarding festival marking end of Ramadan were attacked.

I tell ya, we get these long Moon aspects, and this stuff just happens left and right all over the world. (And I don't think we're at the worst of it until next week.) Add a current "bad" lunar ingress, and you're in for a run of trouble. This week is starting to read like something out of The Apocalypse.

I've posted this before - and it's in the book - but I'll post it again. Here is what a key Moon-Saturn aspect produced in the weeks surrounding the Sandy Hook massacre, under one of the same progressions we have going right now:

CapQ Moon conjoins Capsolar Saturn November 29 to December 25. This entire period brought nearly daily news of death and pain leading up to and following the December 14 Sandy Hook murders. Other events from these 27 days include 125 deaths from bombings in Syria, and another 200 (about two weeks later) from Syrian warplane attacks. In about 24 hours (December 9-10), three bus accidents (in Taiwan, Guatemala, and Columbia) killed 28 children and injured 76 others. Hundreds of other deaths were caused by bombs in Iraq and Damascus, mortar attacks in Syria, landmine explosions (killing 10 young civilian girls) in Afghanistan, and a marketplace explosion in Pakistan; a Congo plane crash, Bolivia bus accident, China van accident, and Kazakhstan plane crash; a South Korea earthquake, collapsing block of apartments in Palermo, violent protests in Egypt, and even more violent fighting in Kenya. I list these as examples of how, year in and out, periods marked by similar Saturn transits collate death and tragedy into the few weeks of their operation.

Thursday, July 7, about 10:00 PM, a tornado struck Eureka, KS. No injuries were reported, though several homes, a mobile home park, and a nursing home were damaged.

It was unusual because Eureka sits in a valley which normally makes it tornado-proof. (I grew up in a similar "indentation" in northern Indiana and, with one exception after I left town, every tornado that came through just hopped over the top of us.)

In the CANLUNAR (the Week chart), Mars is 0°24 from Descendant.

Can Q EP conjoins transiting Mars.

North Korea launched a ballistic missile from a submarine off the coast of Sinpo about 11:30 AM local time. It went up about ten kilometers, then flew maybe another 30 before falling off the radar. It either fell into the sea or blew up mid-air.
This happened the day after the US and S Korea announced they're installing a THADD anti-missile system to howls of outrage from China and polite applause from Japan.
That happened the day after the U.S. Treasury Department blacklisted leader North Korean leader Kim Jong Un for human rights abuses. Kim said it was a declaration of war (how many does that make now?) and vowed a massive response. So I guess that's what the missile was about.

Sigh. Another day, another failed North Korea missile test <vbg>.

I'd ignore them completely, except Clinton keeps emphasizing that we should worry because North Korea learns something new every time they have a failed test. That does sound reasonable; except, over the years, it's hard to see that they are really learning anything. I suppose we should remain worried, and I certainly support putting defenses between them and Japan, and of course I see why China doesn't want us there.

One practical value of astrology, though, is that it gives us a means to assess how big a deal something like this is. We are broadly living in dangerous days - the overlap of the Moon-Pluto and Moon-Saturn progressions for a couple of weeks - and that sets off a red flag. I'll take a quick look at how things actually looked for Pyongyang:

CAPSOLAR. It's a bellicose year, with Mars rising. Certainly shows what they want, but not whether they get it.
CAPLUNAR. Pluto on EP, Sun closely setting. Wider Venus & Uranus on angles, including a Venus-Uranus mundane square (which has a sort of 4th of July fireworks "ooh & ahh" feel) - this showed an average frequency (neither common nor uncommon) for space exploration missions, but did tend to focus on meaningful, cool events like the John Glenn flight, first spacewalk, and first mission looping around the moon, so it's consistent with the public thinking something cool happened.
CANLUNAR. Features this summer's ""mixed news trio" of Jupiter, Saturn, and Neptune, plus a bit of Mars. Neptune is the only super-tight one, and it's squared by a foreground Saturn, so this is more disappointment than celebration - certainly doesn't have the "national pride & celebration" feel of the successful space flight thresholds. It's a failure week, but with something positive for them to salvage from it.

DAILY. Here's where it gets harsh. The CapQ has transiting Mars exactly on Descendant, and ingress Mars on WP (while the CapQ Moon-Pluto progression exists) - and remember that the Capsolar itself has Mars rising. This is volatile and threatening. Something happy registered for them, because transiting Venus is less than 2° from Cansolar Asc. (I'll be sooo glad when this Mercury-Mars-Uranus-Pluto Cansolar goes away in a week or so.)

Conclusion: They'll wrangle a small public relations victory out of it somewhat better than Fearless Leader Orders Everyone to Clap Really Loud, and somebody deep in the system does have something to be happy about; but, mostly, it's just another failure. Nobody is getting a promotion for this one, and a couple of people might come up mysteriously missing in the near future.

LOOKING AHEAD: Under this martial Capsolar, the upcoming Cansolar has Moon-Jupiter for the world (< 2°), Sun-Uranus for the world (0°32'), and, for Pyongyang, Pluto 1°23; from IC. (The U.S. adds a mundane Moon-Neptune square that most of the rest of the world doesn't have, so we're a bit more worried in the next three months than they are.) This chart seems to confirm what common sense would tell us: North Korea is just gonna keep on pushing this envelope, and the long-term threat should not be taken lightly.

The soon-to-expire CANSOLAR... oh, I will be so happy to stop copying and recopying these angularities and aspects in event after event... has the Mars-Pluto opposition right across the meridian, with the whole Mercury-Mars-Uranus-Pluto foreground. Pluto is 1°36' from MC (and 0°23' from square Asc), Mars 3°35' from IC (and 1°10' from square Asc), Mercury and Uranus foreground (with mundane Mercury-Mars-Uranus aspects), and that highlighted Mars-Pluto opposition 1°32' wide.

The June 22 CAPLUNAR has Uranus 1°37' from Dsc, Pluto 2°48' from IC (plus some angular Moon), and of course Moon square Uranus (1°01'). - The latter aspect shows the rioting.

The July 5 CANLUNAR is Neptune-heavy (setting 2°24'), Jupiter next (3°02' from Asc), with a foreground Saturn squaring the Neptune - plus the Moon-Uranus (now 0°42').

And, of course, ihe whole world is being affected by the Capsolar's progressed Moon-Pluto square concurrent with the Cansolar's progressed Moon-Saturn square.

Southern China has been rocked by days of floods. I don't see the rain, but I see the damage. At least 160 have died, and 2 million people (!) have been temporarily relocated.

One city named in the area struck is Wuhan. For the year, it is in the midst of the violent area covered by the current Cansolar - on which I've already written and lamented several times this morning - with Mars 1°09' from Ascendant, Pluto 1°02' from Descendant, and their mundane opposition only 0°07' wide. You can add some Mercury to the mix, of course.

Then the Canlunar came in with Mars exactly rising (0°16') for Wuhan and, of course, being closely angular for anything within a couple of hundred miles.

All this under the recurring Moon-Uranus aspects, the Capsolar's progressed Moon-Pluto square, and the Cansolar's progressed Moon-Saturn square.

July 11, 2016, 2:11:04 UT, 0N33'14" 79W39'47", a magnitude 6.3 earthquake near Rosa Zarate, Ecuador on the nation's northwest coast. (A separate 5.8M quake hit essentially the same location 10 minutes earlier.) - This is close to where April's 7.8M quake (killing 650 people) struck.

CAPSOLAR has Pluto at MC square Uranus on EP.

CANLUNAR has Mars 0°10' from Descendant (in addition to the recurring Moon-Uranus aspects).

The Moon-Pluto Capsolar progression and Moon-Saturn Cansolar progression apply, of course. Transiting Pluto remains within orb of conjunct Capsolar MC and square its Asc. CanQ had transiting and ingress Neptune on IC and transiting Saturn 0°13' from square MC. Against that, transiting Jupiter squares Cansolar Ascendant.

Part of the ongoing Moon-Pluto, Moon-Saturn rage, Moon-Uranus blow-up...

I don't have a lot of details. Just caught a news piece that Kashmir is boiling over in anti-India protests (tens of thousands of people), and 20 people have been killed so far. Troops and police are patrolling the area, which seems to be in semi-military lockdown. This seems to have started because Indian troops killed the leader of a Muslim leader of India's largest rebel group.

This isn't a simple pinpoint event, but one that is just coming into focus this week with what seem to be cascading collapses. CNN gave the following summary this morning:

The world's youngest country is on the verge of slipping back into civil war. And no one seems able to stop it. Government and opposition forces are clashing thanks to a rift between the President and the VP, leaving hundreds dead in the capital, Juba. The U.S. embassy is evacuating non-emergency staff. Civilians are fleeing a U.N. mission, where they thought they'd be safe. The U.N. Security Council expressed "shock and outrage," but hasn't done much else. South Sudan turned 5 this weekend.


One would expect longer-term cycles to show this ongoing pattern and, indeed, the 2016 Capsolar for Juba has Mars 2°34' from IC. Within this, the current month's Caplunar has Pluto 0°29' from square Ascendant (2°21' from IC, with Uranus also foreground and, of course, the Moon-Uranus square). Then we come to the Canlunar, which shows this week having Saturn-Neptune smack on the angles (and in partile square),and just a trace of Jupiter (and, of course, Moon-Uranus).

Within this, we have the ongoing universal Moon-Pluto progression in the Capsolar and Moon-Saturn progression in the Cansolar.

Japan's prime minister, Shinzo Abe, now has a supermajority coalition, after the elections they just held - and this is expected to mark a significant turning point. Since World War II, Japan's constitution has almost completely restricted its military, which is prohibited from engaging in war. The PM may now successfully lead a movement to remilitarize Japan.

This came together under an Arisolar with Midheaven 15°25' Leo for Tokyo - meaning, Saturn and Neptune have been playing with it, and mars (square Neptune) was square MC (1°32') in the Arisolar itself.

The current Caplunar (for the election) has Pluto rising (and, of course, Moon-Uranus). The Canlunar has Saturn-Neptune on the angles (Neptune closest) and, of course, Moon-Uranus. And this is all happening under the Moon-Pluto and Moon-Saturn progressions of the primary solar ingresses.

In case you were worried we wouldn't have a newsworthy shooting today...

In St. Joseph, MI, two sheriff's deputies were killed (and their killer killed) in a courthouse shooting today.

I don't have a time, but it seems the story broke at 4:14 PM EDT (about half an hour ago). EDIT: It was 2:25 PM. See next post.

St. Joe's CAPSOLAR resembles many others in the country. Uranus is exactly rising, squared by Pluto (which also squares Ascendant partile). There is certainly room for disruption there in the course of the year. Also, Moon is on EP.

The CAPLUNAR is not severe. Jupiter is exactly on IC. There is a mundane Sun-Neptune square widely foreground, and a shooting-prone Venus-Neptune mundane square - but all within the context of Jupiter partile conjunct IC (and Saturn and Mars out of the way).

For the DAY, in addition to the Moon-Pluto and Moon-Saturn patterns hitting everything right now, transiting Pluto is only 0°17' from square Capsolar Ascendant-Uranus. More timely, transiting Mars exactly (0°26') conjoins Cansolar Ascendant (and Cansolar Jupiter).
Much sharper is the ARILUNAR (the Canlunar is dormant). Pluto rises (1°54'), Venus sets (2°07'), and the two are in exact mundane opposition (0°13').

Berrien County Sheriff Paul Bailey said the shooting happened about 2:25 p.m. when a "disturbance" occurred on the third floor of the courthouse in downtown St. Joseph.

The two who were killed were both bailiffs at the court. The killer got a gun away from one of them. There was also a deputy sheriff hurt and taken to hospital.

Tuesday morning (7/12) in SE Italy (Puglia) at 11:30 AM CEST, two passenger trains collided head-on, each travelling 60-70 mph. At least 27 are dead, with over 50 more injured.

The accident occurred at 41N11'52", 16N21'37"

England has a new Prime Minister. Theresa May has accepted Queen Elizabeth's invitation to the job.

The ARISOLAR reflected this eventuality with Sun and Uranus closely straddling MC. We looked at it previously in terms of the larger Brexit issue, but it starkly shows transition in head of government.

The CAPLUNAR is mostly about juggling uncertainty. Neptune is on WP (0°09') in London, with Mercury most closely angular (0°25' from MC), Jupiter next (2°45' from Asc), and then Saturn, with various aspect connections among them (and, of course, the Moon-Uranus square).

The Liblunar is dormant, and the CANLUNAR has an angular Mars. I don't know that this is particularly relevant.

DAY factors have the Moon-Pluto and Moon-Saturn progressions, though this is not exactly a horrifying event (but it is a transitional and event transformative one). Mercury and Venus straddle Capsolar Ascendant.

And, since we couldn't let the last day of this CRISIS ZONE go without its own special agony, Turkey's prime minister has announced that an attempted coup d'état is under way, led by a group within the Turkish military. The best timing so far is "Friday night" in Turkey, but I doubt it's limited to a narrow part of the day. So far, the standing government remains in control. EDIT 7/16: Death toll is now 265.

It's been a bad year for Turkey. Today isn't making it any better.

The CAPSOLAR, remember, has Mars exactly on IC. The LIBLUNAR has the partile Moon-Uranus opposition across the horizon tightly but, strangely, Mercury-Venus at Midheaven. (It's a very tight mundane Moon-Mercury-Uranus T-square exactly on the angles, with Venus only a couple of degrees away.)

Remember that Mars exactly on Capsolar IC? Well, now, six months later, it's exactly on the CapQ MC. The military got a bit aggressive today.

And, of course, we remain in the partile orb of CapQ Moon square ingress Pluto, transiting Pluto square CapQ Moon, and progressed Cansolar Moon square Saturn.

The coup went public about 19:29 GMT (note the timezone) when troops stopped traffic on the Bosphorus and Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridges. (that's Istanbul.) It was timed to coincide with Erdogan's vacation, btw.

The movement running the coup is apparently followers of U.S.-based cleric Fethullah Gulen.

This morning, three police officers were killed and three others wounded by apparently retaliatory shooters. One of the shooters has been killed by police, and two others are being sought. - A tweet reported by NYT, apparently from soon after the shooting, is timed 7:37 AM.

Since the July 5 shootings, the Arisolar has been replaced as Quarter charter by last night's CANSOLAR. As I mentioned for New Orleans, nearby Baton Rouge has the Saturn-Neptune square exactly on the angles. Saturn is 0°15' from MC, Neptune squares MC (1°18'), and their square is 1°23'.

The Capsolar is the same as for the July 5 shooting. It also has Saturn-Neptune (Neptune at MC squared by Saturn). As the Liblunar is dormant for the area, the same Canlunar persists as Week chart, with Mars closely setting. So the lunar ingress setup is exactly the same, and the solar ingress scenario has gotten more dire.

Even with the old Cansolar gone, we persist in the CapQ's Moon-Pluto square (0°15') and transiting Pluto's square to CapQ Moon (0°38'). Here's the zinger, though: Because the Cansolar just occurred last night, the CanQ angles are essentially unchanged from it; so the CanQ MC for the shooting (I'm using 7:30 AM at the moment) is 15°54' Scorpio, conjunct transiting Saturn and square transiting Neptune. Also (though this almost seems too obvious to be taken seriously), transiting Saturn and Neptune remain exactly aspect the new Cansolar's angles.

So we have Saturn-Neptune for the Quarter, the Month, the CanQ, and transits to Cansolar (three of these all converging as essentially the same thing) - and Mars on the Week chart. Summer is starting very steamy in Baton Rouge.

A report of a group of people firing from a car came into Kansas City, KS police around 1:30 PM. Officers responded, several individuals got out of a car, one was taken into custody, another ran, and just before 2PM, an officer chasing him was shot. Taken to hospital, pronounced dead just before 3PM.

This feels different from the last week. This feels like a gang doing drive-bys encountered police, rather than some kind of ambush.

It's all feeling different this week than last week, eh? I was noticing that this morning - it's starkly different.

Kansas City has Uranus on WP of the Caplunar square Moon on IC, plus the foreground partile Sun-Uranus mundane square. CanQ MC has rotated to within a degree of Saturn.

The 1MDB (1 Malaysia Development Berhad[/Limited]) scandal is world-[in]famous now. The US Justice Department seeks to seize $1 billion of the alleged $3.5 billion US dollars related to 1MDB's funds.
US Attorney General Loretta Lynch said evidence showed that this scandal had defrauded Malaysians "on an enormous scale".
However, the Malaysian Prime Minister's name wasn't directly mentioned, probably US-Malaysia diplomatic considerations were taken into account. He was indirectly mentioned as "Malaysian Official 1".
There wasn't any mention of the news in local papers too, unsurprisingly. Press freedom is rather limited here—go against the government, get ready to get your publishing license revoked.

Looking at mundane symbolism, we have the universal Full Moon in Kuala Lumpur's Caplunar, and Moon partile squares Uranus.
Also, FWIW, Kuala Lumpur's Caplunar has an angular Mercury-Venus conjunction. Mercury is 2°07 from squaring the Ascendant, Venus is 2°09' from the IC, and both are conjunct.
KL's Cansolar has Moon and Jupiter squaring each other and angular. (The square is 0°25' in mundo)

Yes, that Cansolar looks... profitable

What jumped out at me is that, in a year when the Capsolar is destabilizing, the other two solar ingresses have tightly angular Moons. Especially since we're in ongoing Moon-Uranus aspects, this is the typical mark of intense populist revolt - people in the streets, marching, outcry, people vs. government. Is this likely to be the kind of result we see in Malaysia, given the current political and cultural climate?

Yes, most definitely. We Malaysians know how to give an outcry—at least on the internet.
They're like wanting a new do-over and overhaul for Malaysia. A government for the people overall, without the corruption, religious and racial bigotry, and economic decline.
They want to see Malaysia become famous again as a developing modern nation, like it was during the 90's like when Mahathir Mohamad was the Prime Minister. Even Mahathir himself is against what's going on in Malaysia, and the people are backing him. IIRC, he's now with the opposition party.
They don't want to see their country going down to the drain like many other corruption-high countries. They really love their country. But not so much for their officials.

Maybe they'll have another Bersih rally, even larger and massive than the previous one.

Today in Munich, at 5:52 PM, an assailant opened fire in a McDonalds killing "several" people. Details are emerging. So far, at least 6 are confirmed dead. Police are calling it an act of terrorism.

For Munich, the YEAR is much like we're experiencing it here: The Capsolar has Uranus at MC square Pluto on WP. Additionally, Munich has Mars exactly square Ascendant.

The CAPLUNAR has Pluto closely rising, Mercury square MC, and an acceptable Moon-Pluto conjunction. It's a high-impact chart.

In the CapQ, we continue our double-barreled Moon-Pluto, and throw Uranus on the IC for the day. Pluto also continues to transit the Capsolar angles.

It's really Pluto (and especially Moon-Pluto) all the way.

With all that, I'd skip the Cansolar were it not for the high precision - half a degree - of Jupiter's to transit to the Cansolar IC. This deserves mention. Pluto is simultaneously conjunct Cansolar Descendant.

About 12:30 AM, police were called to Club Blu in Ft. Myers, FL, where they found 2 people dead and 17 wounded.

The CAPSOLAR has Uranus rising about 1°, square a foreground Pluto, like much of the eastern U.S.

With a dormant Caplunar, the operative lunar ingress is the LIBLUNAR. Sun closely rises, widely opposite Pluto which closely sets (and, of course, we have Moon-Uranus).

The CapQ is primarily a "news day" chart, with Mercury angular (and our two Moon-Pluto aspects that persist; but Uranus tips the surprise by being a quarter degree from quotidian WP.

Something in the water today?

19 are dead and another 45 injured in a knife attack at a facility for the disabled in Sagamihara, Japan, near Tokyo. Police were called at 2:30 AM (which would be July 26). This was Japan's deadliest mass killing since WW II.

ADDED: The time is now being given as "shortly past 2 AM." The killer claimed he wanted to euthanize the disabled patients, and told police, "It's better that disabled people disappear." I can't tell how much was intended as social engineering and how much from a misguided sense of compassion.

The CANSOLAR (acting Year chart), in addition to Moon-Jupiter square, has Uranus 0°04' from Dsc, Sun 2°+ from MC, mundane Sun-Uranus sq. 2°+.

Caplunar is dormant. LIBLUNAR (in addition to Moon-Uranus) has Mars 1° from MC, Venus < 2° from Descendant, Venus-Mars in 2°17' mundane square, and some Mercury thrown in. (Crime of passion? Venus-Mars is overwhelmingly the strong aspect in natal charts of murderers, but I can't yet make the case that is has the same value in mundane astrology.)

CapQ just brings p. Moon-Pluto sq. (4') and transiting Pluto sq. CapQ Moon 7' on the other side). This symbolism is spoiled a bit by p. Asc sq. s. Jupiter (16') - unless we find out that there is a Jupiter element of this murder.

Transits to the Capsolar angles include t. Venus sq. Asc (1°12'), t. Mercury on MC (0°55'), t. Mars on EP (looks exactly in longitude, but is just a few minutes past 2° in RA) - same planets as the Liblunar, in a different balance.

Something in the air...

Shortly before 12:30 p.m an explosion leveled a house in N Omaha. 3 hurt, one killed. Not, apparently, caused by gas. The blast moved nearby homes off their foundations, and slammed doors open and shattered windows in other homes in the area.

Edit: The first call to 911 came in at 12:17 PM.
