USA Mundane Forecast
for the four weeks beginning AUGUST 2, 2020

If you are unfamiliar with the methods and interpretations of Sidereal mundane astrology, please see my free book Sidereal Mundane Astrology. (A link to the current edition can be found near the top of the Publications sub-forum.) For standard interpretations, see Chapter 8 of the current (17th) Edition.

LONG-TERM (Solar Ingresses)
(Summarized from my original interpretation in the January 15 forecast.) For the U.S., the 12 months beginning January 15, 2020 are dominated by Uranus on Eastpoint mundanely square a Sun-Saturn-Pluto conjunction at Midheaven. This difficult year will have more challenges than blessings and sets up even more severe patterns for 2021. Much of what follows describes the coronavirus pandemic and civil outrage we have experienced thus far.
  • Uranus: Surprises, sudden ruptures or eruption, shock, revelation, overflowing of limits and boundaries, surprise attacks, changes in foreign relations or leadership, riots and revolts.
  • Sun, Saturn, and Pluto are the main story: This year will be a horrible struggle with great damage along the way. It seems astrologically inconceivable that Trump's presidency will survive the year.
  • Saturn-Pluto: Hardship including catastrophic disasters laying waste to a landscape, feeling irrevocable loss or separation, an apocalyptic time, even (in the extreme) the downfall of cities and nations.
  • Sun-Saturn-Pluto across Florida, New Orleans, and coastal Mississippi: Devastating hurricanes this year, after the fashion of Hurricane Andrew. Mars through Santa Barbara County sparks unusually severe fire. See the maps.
  • Sun-Saturn: Sad, arduous events; death or restraint of leaders; government gridlock; restrictive, controlling, or failing government that causes or worsens disaster, fiscal crisis, structural collapses, natural disasters, events requiring government oversight and response.
  • Sun-Pluto: Diverse possibilities from natural disasters to political confrontation; removing or assailing those in power, rebelling against conventions, disrespect for and disobeying the law.
  • Saturn-Uranus: Bubble-bursting, harsh reality, wide pendulum swings between freedom-restriction, liberality-conservatism, liberty vs. safety, change vs. status quo.
  • Uranus-Pluto: Destabilizing, revolutionary, revising, remapping, anti-establishment, antigovernmental: a spirit of revolution dismantles current systems and tears down existing structures; people ignore, challenge, or reject precedent, custom, convention, and authority.
  • Sun-Uranus: Sudden, startling, explosive, surprise attacks, leadership changes, life-altering technology.
Amidst deep cultural divisions, the nation is hurled closer to a spirit of revolution. As Pluto transitions from Sagittarius to Capricorn, every solar or lunar cardinal ingress through the end of 2003 worldwide will have Sun or Moon conjunct, opposite, or square Pluto.

Cansolar (Jul 16)
The Cansolar is dormant. Moon conjunct Venus (1°35') worldwide normally would signal peace, public happiness, celebration, and protection. However, its main expression may be accelerated social needs that weaken efforts to fight the pandemic. For the U.S., this is not a chart of great consequence.

Arisolar (Apr 14)
As the "quarter" chart from April 14 to October 17, a single aspect marks the Arisolar: Venus square Mars: Venus rises (0°31', dignified in Taurus); Mars culminates (1°33', dignified in Capricorn); and Venus squares Mars (1°03' in mundo). Foremost, the aspect means passion in every respect. People feel powerfully about things. In an election year, we expect inflamed passions to prevail over reason across the terrain of political engagement (i.e., the usual). More broadly, great restlessness sweeps the land, tempers burn short, and selfish wants win out over any greater social mindfulness. Venus-Mars also frays international relations with wounded alliances and even military attacks.

MEDIUM-TERM (The Bridge)
We find a contrast - exactly opposing symbolism - for the world in general vs. the United States in particular. For the world in general, these weeks should bring happy news, even celebration: Progressed Cansolar Moon conjoins ingress Venus (beginning 8/2). Progressed Capsolar Moon squares ingress Jupiter (beginning 8/9).

However, for the U.S. (which is also part of "the world" and will benefit somewhat from those benefic progressions), transits to Capsolar angles are harsh. Transiting Saturn conjoins Capsolar MC all month (exact 8/10). This is the transit that, back in February, marked the collapse of the stock market and the discovery that COVID-19 was racing through the populace. Whatever the exact results this time, they will have the same characteristics of enormous death, hardship, and failure.

Then, August 19 through the end of the period is the most critical time. Transiting Mars squares Capsolar MC, centered on the exact Mars-Saturn square August 24, the day the Republican National Convention opens. (Mars and Saturn are in partile square 8/21-30, enclosing the entire convention.)

Mars is in Pisces until August 19. Thus far, it has manifest primarily as virulent toxicity, including rising (record) disease numbers and emotion-charged racial violence (fueling memories of historic slavery, a Pisces theme). On August 19, Mars enters Aries and the day-to-day story line will shift at once from Pisces themes to Aries themes. (It seems that the RNC will be volatile to the point of danger.) -- Summaries of longer-term trends from outer planet sign transits are here.

SHORT-TERM (Lunar Ingresses)

Caplunar (Aug 2)
The Caplunar covers August 2-29, especially the first week, August 2-9. This month delivers a hard blow to the United States. The most likely form is that we collectively get terrible news with cascading consequences.

Moon. Mercury, and Saturn are aligned along the horizon (with Pluto not far away for emphasis). Mercury opposes Saturn, their midpoint 0°02' from the Washington, DC horizon. Moon opposes Mercury (0°05') and conjoins Pluto (also partile). Moon-Saturn and Mercury-Pluto flesh out the closest aspects. Saturn/Pluto is on Descendant.

This terrible news will be of unusually high impact, deflating hope, and likely affecting things Mercurial in nature. For example (probably far too extreme, but capturing the right emotional tone), it could be an announcement that the pandemic disease has been found immune to all known paths to immunization.

More broadly, Mercury-Saturn signifies restrictions, delays, failures, or calamity relating to transportation; communication breakdowns from technical failures or because people simply stop listening to each other; and the interruption of commerce. Mercury-Pluto portends collisions of ideas, leadership hanging in the balance, and consequences that stun the intellect or repattern how people think about things. Moon-Mercury, besides causing a "news media camped out" media circus, signals themes of flight, wind, and swiftness, situations that involve voluminous paperwork (or its digital equivalent), and transportation events. (This could be nothing more than the two vote-casting political conventions.) Moon-Pluto amplifies the intensity and "on the brink" sense. Moon-Saturn speaks of sacrifice, loss, and sadness.

Local angularities play up the convention locales. Jupiter sets in Milwaukee. Jupiter and Pluto straddle Charlotte. A worrisome Mars line follows the Georgia-South Carolina border after rising from the Caribbean and then continues northwest, typical of violent storms (but perhaps other kinds of violent storming in the southeast).
  • 8/2: CanQ Asc sq. t Saturn.
  • 8/3: CanQ Asc sq. ingress Saturn, CanQ EP conj. t Mars.
  • 8/6: CapQ Dsc crosses t Uranus, CanQ MC crosses t Jupiter.
Arilunar (Aug 9)
The Arilunar, covering August 9-16, brings a renewal of hope amidst intensified struggle. Logic suggests that this means people understand that things are getting worse and step up to engage it - to fight back.

Jupiter conjunct Pluto straddles IC, the midpoint conjunct the angle. We have seen much of this aspect recently: It challenges beliefs, values, and the political-cultural systems that sustain them, sometimes calling (with zeal for justice and democracy) for a reconstruction of the social order. It often manifests as recovery, healing, or correction of unjust or undermined conditions, turning a corner, reversing the tide. Often this accompanies from political undermining or reversals .

Jupiter and Pluto are angular with Mars, which brings the fight. Mars square Pluto is the closest aspect: It signals no-holds-barred, "gloves off, bare-knuckle" confrontation as examples of the more general ferocious unleashing of force theme, often with open disrespect of law.

Four close Moon aspects are mixed: While Moon to Saturn-Pluto still weighs on the whole world. the closest orbs for the U.S. are all mundane. Moon closely squares Saturn and Pluto, conjoins Mars, and squares Uranus (0°57' PVP). These show emotional hardship, a strong threat of violence, and the need to rapidly adapt to new or quickly changing circumstances. These energies are not passive: They are combative, engaged, even outraged.

Venus culminates for the longitude of Wichita and Oklahoma City. Jupiter anticulminates for the longitude of Raleigh, from the Carolina coast north through central Virginia and Pennsylvania. Mars-Pluto lines intersect off Virginia Beach and closely straddle New York City. A Mars-Jupiter intersection nearly atop Virginia Beach increases the chance of storms - and stormy behavior in nearby Washington.
  • 8/9: CanQ MC crosses ingress Jupiter.
  • 8/10: CanQ MC crosses t/s Pluto.
  • 8/11: CanQ Asc crosses t/s Uranus.
  • 8/14: CanQ MC crosses t Saturn.
Canlunar (Aug 16)
The Canlunar covers August 16-22, including the Democratic National Convention August 17-20. I suspect this one event will absorb most of what this chart conveys, since it shows great involvement of herd-masses of people in fiery argument, with great passion and a sense that events portend great consequences.

In other words, a typical quadrennial national political convention.

Moon squares Midheaven and closely angular Mars. Mars squares non-foreground Saturn. Both aspect angular Pluto. Venus sets in close (1°10') mundane square to Mars. Jupiter-Pluto spotlights themes of recovery, restoration, and political zeal. The one dark cloud is Moon opposite Saturn (0°32' in mundo), amplifying an honest sense of hardship, loss, and sadness requiring a new, great sacrifice.

Puerto Rico has Pluto rising: Keep an eye on the Atlantic weather report. Miami, however, has Venus exactly setting, which spreads along the entire eastern seaboard, passing also through Boston. Neptune squares Ascendant halfway between Chicago and Milwaukee - might we see riots reminiscent of '68? Saturn squares MC near Philadelphia and through New Jersey not far from New York City, suggesting a crisis in these areas linked to hardship and dissatisfaction (and maybe a dip down in the stock market for the week - which would be really bad news for the Democrats).
  • 8/16: CanQ MC crosses ingress Saturn.
  • 8/20: CapQ IC crosses ingress Venus (climax of DNC).
Liblunar (Aug 22)
The Liblunar covers August 22-29. This one-week chart is of unusual importance for three reasons: (1) It overlaps the Republican National Convention August 24-27. (2) It overlaps days of extreme risk and severity identified in the Bridge section above. (3) It closely resembles next year's Capsolar, having all the same essential elements: This week may foreshadow how 2021 will play out.

With these days already identified as a high-threat time for the United States due to a transiting Mars-Saturn square on the Washington Capsolar angles, the Liblunar also has a Moon-Mars-Saturn T-square on its angles. Like the 2021 Capsolar, this Liblunar features a partile Mars-Saturn square as its most angular aspect plus a more widely foreground Jupiter-Uranus square (0°46' in mundo). We are greatly interested in how that pair of partile aspects will play out.

Venus (IC 0°32') and Saturn (Zenith 0°45') are most angular. Moon opposite Mars (0°13' in mundo), Mars square Saturn (0°28'), and Jupiter square Uranus (0°46') are its closest aspects. Moon squares Mars, Saturn, and Pluto. Primarily, these are aspects of emotional savagery. Surely, much of this will play out during the RNC; but in what exact ways? It's easy to conceive great conflict amounting to battle - that would be the political norm and nothing unusual. These aspects also signify an invoking of great hurt, hatred, and cruelty specifically consistent with Fascist and other radically nationalist moves and movements.

It is hard to justify much emphasis on the wide (yet foreground) Venus-Jupiter opposition, though conventions are always great parties. The mixed cluster of Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto stretch their angularities across the eastern fourth of the country (with Jupiter right through Charlotte): These are the most important angularities across the nation.
  • 8/22: CapQ EP crosses ingress Mars.
  • 8/25: CapQ MC squares ingress Mars (during the RNC).
  • 8/28: CanQ MC squares t/s Uranus.

Trump Watch

PROGRESSIONS & DIRECTIONS
Long-running progressions continue: p Mars sx. r Pluto & p Mars ssq. r Mars (contentious); p Sun-Venus ssq. (celebrity); and p Mercury sx. r Jupiter and r Uranus (surprising luck and success in business and cutting deals). -- Mercury-Jupiter leaves orb at the end of January, 2021 and Mercury-Uranus in May 2021.

Among his Solar Arc directions, d Moon is sqq. r Jupiter and d Mars sqq. r Sun, both of which will be exact near Election Day. This actualizes his natal Mo/Su = Ma/Ju 0°03' (conjunction at 28°05'/08' Leo). Placing great reliance on Solar Arcs would require a prediction that Trump will win reelection. - Directed Ascendant sq. r Pluto, separating 46', probably has indicted his confrontation with the pandemic.

SIDEREAL LUNAR RETURN (Jul 30)
This SLR brings a heavy, demoralizing, costly blow to President Trump. Saturn and Pluto are conjunct. Saturn squares MC (0°34'). Pluto is on Eastpoint (0°03'). These signify heavy ordeal with separation and irrevocable loss as its main characteristics. Affairs come to a climax. Events fall against him.

Mercury opposes Pluto. Circumstances force him to face the music and take a stand. Events stun his mind, reframing how he thinks. Typically, one is backed up against a wall of convention or law and has to fight one's way out of the predicament. Blame lands hard.

Natal Venus squares MC (0°34'). Venus amidst this kind of loss commonly means wondering if one paid too high a price, feeling the deeply personal impact of circumstances. This is confirmed by Venus' opposition by transiting Saturn (1°08 on one side) and conjunction with natal Saturn (1°55' on the other).

Natal Mercury, Neptune, and Saturn more widely angular likely mean anxiety.

SIDEREAL DEMI-LUNAR RETURN (Aug 14)
Transiting Jupiter is 0°24' from Westpoint and Pluto 0°36' from square Midheaven. Conditions will improve for him in the second fortnight, though the 7/30 SLR continues to be effective.

This is the week of the Democratic National Convention, with which Trump will be obsessed. His primary actions and primary reactions will center on it.

Two major transits (the chart's closest aspects) become exact August 16-17 as the DNC begins. Saturn opposes natal Venus (0°09') with natal Venus-Saturn (now 0°49' in mundo) also foreground. Jupiter squares natal Jupiter (0°17'). It seems he's taking a victory lap for something (an "August surprise"?) with complete disregard of the emotional price exacted by his victory. His greatest need is to secure the affection of his base devotees.

Transiting Mars at Midheaven squares both transiting Pluto (0°23') and natal Pluto (0°18' in mundo). Mars-Pluto in all its forms signifies belligerent individuality and forced power. Amidst suspenseful, tense conditions, he likely will compel a state of emergency, a sense of alarm; for example, militarized police power is consistent with Mars-Pluto. He's all in on the gamble with little care for law or precedent.

Mars, Pluto, and Saturn all transit natal Saturn within 2°. It is clear that much hurt (and even harm) occurs. It isn't clear whether he is causing or experiencing the harm. In any case, debts come due: Any rattling sound we hear is from the bones of skeletons in his back closet.

SIDEREAL LUNAR RETURN (Aug 26)
A new Lunar Return occurs as the Republican National Convention (August 24-27) comes to its climax. We don't know where President Trump will be physically located: It might be Washington and probably won't be Charlotte. He has said that events such as his "acceptance speech," the biggest rally-type event of the year for him, will occur "in some other city."

Presuming he is in Washington when this SLR occurs, he has the stage and his moment to shine as bright as the sun. Transiting Sun exactly squares Ascendant signifying a bright limelight, honor, achievement, and recognition. It's like an opening night on Broadway and an acceptance speech at the Oscars all rolled into one. He undoubtedly will make it the performance event of the season.

The rest of the SLR is more interesting, though. Transiting Uranus (square MC 1°42') and natal Pluto (on IC 1°15') are square within 0°27'. Transiting Uranus to natal Pluto always requires us to say, "Everything changes"; but what are the nature of the changes.? We know they will be fundamental and uprooting of the past, but in which direction?

Uranus-Pluto could signify the world dismantling Donald Trump and tearing down, in one swift, seismic blow, everything he has ever built. It also could signify that, defying all convention and reasonable expectation, he rises phoenix-like from smoldering ashes, renewed and unstoppable.

This is part of what will make the event so captivating, the show so compelling: We do not know what plot twists remain, what his writers have planned for the finale. We do know, though, that with this chart - provided he is in or near Washington, DC - everything changes.

Tracking Biden

Posted: Sun Jul 26, 2020 12:27 pm
by Jim Eshelman
Vice President Joe Biden was born November 20, 1942, 8:30 AM EWT, in Scranton, PA. He lives in Wilmington, DE. He appears to have been in or near Atlanta, GA for his most recent Sidereal Solar Return, November 21, 2019 at 1:29 AM EST. (His birth time appears to be pretty accurate but perhaps should be closer to 8:25 than 8:30.)

PROGRESSIONS
Numerous secondary progressions are ongoing: If his birth time is correct, the most important of these is progressed MC opposite natal Saturn, which enters orb late in August days after he is scheduled to accept his party's nomination for President of the United States. This aspect may not be genuine (if his birthtime is even a few minutes off) and, if genuine, has several possible meanings including the assumption of enormous responsibility in times of unprecedented difficulty. On its surface, it is not usually taken as an aspect of victory. Also, progressed Ascendant squares natal Mercury (22' sep.). Both of these depend on an exactly correct 8:30 birth time.

More reliable are three interplanetary progressions:
  • p Venus sq. p Saturn (sep. 27'). Biden has had no shortage of loss and grief. This aspect is separating, expiring the first week of January.
  • p Mercury sqq. r Saturn (ap. 01'). Normally an aspect of loss, great difficulty, and being tripped up by one's own words, this aspect is most critical. His progressed Mercury is nearly stationary, so this aspect remains within 0°01' orb through the end of the year (and the whole election season). It was 0°00' wide for the last several months while he was somewhat muffled by the isolation conditions of the pandemic.
  • p Mercury op. r Jupiter (ap. 12'). This is normally an aspect of great success. Though not as close as Mercury-Saturn, it is quite close, building to exact contact in November 2021.
During August, progressed Moon aspects mostly involve angles. Progressed Moon squares natal Asc until 8/2 then crosses progressed EP the rest of the month (headed toward a conjunction with Venus the first week of October). On a somber note, a progressed Moon-Saturn square enters orb 8/21, soon after he accepts the nomination.

Biden's Solar Arc directions include four separating aspects that say more about the past than the future. He also has directed Midheaven to natal Saturn (same as the progression - see above) and Neptune square his MC, both of which are dependent on an exact birth time exact to the minute. I will not follow his Solar Arcs in future months.

Of great importance, Biden's progressed (SQ) Solar Return Moon squares SSR and SQ Jupiter August 15 and 19. This overlaps the Democratic Convention at which he is expected to accept his party's nomination for President. This aspect reinforces our confidence in his birth time.

SIDEREAL LUNAR RETURN (Aug 10)
Presuming he stays in Wilmington, Biden's lunar returns are puzzlingly silent throughout the campaign. He may relocate at different times, of course, but will not likely be on the road in the traditional campaign sense.

For example, the 8/10 SLR under which he is expected to accept the nomination has transiting Neptune square Ascendant (0°22') as the only strong factor and natal Saturn on Ascendant (5°) as the only other foreground factor. Additionally, transiting Neptune conjoins his natal IC (0°37') as it does much of the summer. The same themes are deepened by a non-foreground partile aspect, transiting Saturn square natal Neptune (0°37' in mundo)

These are placements implying floundering and failing, an idea reinforced by transiting Saturn opposite natal Jupiter (partile, background). Other partile, non-foreground aspects worth mentioning (given how little else is in the chart) are Venus square his Neptune (0°12'), Sun square his Venus (0°16' in mundo), and a Moon-Mercury square (0°49' in mundo). These show a poor start at what should be a highpoint fortnight of his life.

Perhaps he will be somewhere other than Wilmington.

SIDEREAL DEMI-LUNAR RETURN (Aug 23)
The Demi-lunar immediately after the convention is much kinder and perhaps shows a post-convention "bump" on the polls (something not expected since the RNC is almost directly on its heels). Still, none of the positions are especially strong, so it is likely (mostly) a state of mind shift.

Transiting Venus is 4° from MC and Jupiter 7° from IC. They are opposite (2°35'). That, in a nutshell, is the whole chart, suggesting gentle happiness, social graces, and popularity.

There is also continuing Neptune. Besides natal Neptune being 7° above Ascendant, transiting Neptune remains conjunct his natal IC. There is a strain on his cash and his esteem, with Mars and Saturn both aspecting natal Jupiter within 0°10'.

Another factor of theoretical interest, mentioned so that it may be studied: The planetoid Chiron is 0°07' from Descendant of this SLR.

Primarily, though, it's a gentle Venus-Jupiter opposition along the meridian (not too close to seem acute) and a backdrop of Neptune.

Friday August 14, while traveling to Bedminster NJ, Trump stopped in NYC to see his brother who was dying. He appeared sad on Saturday. Saturday late, he called his brother's hospital room. His brother died late Saturday night.

His bother, Robert, no date or time other than 1948, had been ill for some time, and was hospitalized previous in June.

I confess I don’t read these all the time, but I usually check the maps during hurricane season.

Since it looks like we’ll have twin tropical storms on the Gulf Coast, I was wondering if there were any of those pesky lines drawn anywhere.

Lance, do you have an estimate of what week they would hit? I don't see anything on a current live wind patterns map.

I don't want to say that Texas is protected this year, but it seems more out of the target zone, the main part of the Yucatan-to-Florida stretch that doesn't have serious tragedy lines for the longer-term solar ingresses. (As I recall, there is a Jupiter line in one of the main charts that, at worst, probably would be a degraded Tropical storm with enormous rain-dumps, which are no fun.)

Before breaking this down for you, I want to mention that for each lunar ingress (first post on the thread) I list the most obvious line crossings in blue text.

OK, let's take a look at the Texas stretch of the Gulf...

CAPSOLAR: As I mentioned beginning in January, this year's chart also shows widespread devastation that might feel apocalyptic and resembles patterns that bring down whole cities and nations. This, of course, could be COVID-19 impact, just to name the most obvious. Words used included "horrible struggle, probably with great damage caused along the way... dramatic tragedy or hardship including catastrophic disasters often laying waste to a landscape... a feeling of irrevocable loss or separation, a seemingly apocalyptic moment.' Then the key paragraph:
Part of this effect will not be political. In the U.S., the Sun-Saturn-Pluto triplet is exactly angular in southern Florida, New Orleans, and coastal Mississippi (as well as in Yucatan). I fear there is no way these areas will make it through 2020 without a devastating (likely Category 5) hurricane after the fashion of Hurricane Andrew...
Maps sorting out the lines of the Capsolar are here:
https://solunars.com/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=3715
In particular, compare the Jupiter lines through Texas (which can, of course, mean rain and flooding) to the Sun-Saturn-Pluto lines through the other areas mentioned.

CANSOLAR: The Quarter chart for mid-July to mid-October shows a Venus line running due north-south, approximately through Houston. The strongest effects will be 150 miles or so east and west of that line. Two benefics marking the zone seems to make that stretch of coast more protected. Considering that COVID hit Texas hard, something of unusual benevolence seems slated. - Again, the worst negative effect from these two wet planets is rain. (Unfortunately, I'm not sure the World Series will get played this year.)

CURRENT MONTH: The current Caplunar (which is almost over) has a Neptune line near Houston (running due north-south). That symbol of confusing, emotionally wild times can be consistent with hurricanes, but not necessarily the physical impact - as with earthquakes, Neptune seems to show the anxiety and disorientation that comes with even minor-impact events, so it's not a good predictor opposite Mars or Saturn (which aren't impacting Neptune). Neptune also rises along the Texas coastline in this week's Canlunar but, again, we only have about another day of that chart. Next week's Liblunar (starts tomorrow) has nothing angular in the area. - So, the Canlunar will continue for your area for another week, potentially showing crowd insanity and perhaps flooding.

NEXT MONTH: This is the one that worries me a bit: The Caplunar August 29 has, for the world, Moon right between Saturn and Pluto. For Beaumont (just to pick an arbitrary place), Pluto is exactly on IC showing high intensity impact of something. Venus opposes Pluto along the meridian, which, among many other possibilities, can show separation of people and loss of home and community. Venus and Jupiter both foreground (the latter more widely) can show massive rain (at least one lunar ingress in a hurricane pattern usually shows the rain, though this is more common in the Tropical Storm phase). Mars, more widely foreground, squares the foreground Moon-Saturn conjunction, so this is destructive. I'd watch for the four weeks beginning August 29.

Of course many other possibilities exist, though I admit that for the month beginning 8/29 most of those are unpleasant.

They should hit the Gulf Coast simultaneously, approximately Tuesday/Wednesday, Aug. 25/26. They are predicted to keep moving instead of stalling, which is the real flooding danger. Remember, Harvey was a tropical storm that stalled and dropped 5 feet of rain.

Thanks... so, for that period, the markers for your area are highly beneficent except that rain and flooding are the risk. A negative view of this time for southeast Texas is hysteria and flood waters with limited or no loss of life.

The contrast in Yucatan, Florida, and the Mississippi (and adjacent) coast lines is levelling buildings, uprooting whole agricultural crops, and looking like the Huns all marched through and the Romulan Empire behind them leaving scorched-earth.

So Texas might indeed get a drive-by.
