USA Mundane Forecast
for the four weeks beginning JULY 23, 2021

If you are unfamiliar with the methods and interpretations of Sidereal mundane astrology, please see my free book Sidereal Mundane Astrology. (A link can be found near the top of the Publications sub-forum.) For standard interpretations, see Chapter 8 of the current (17th) Edition.

LONG-TERM (Solar Ingresses)
Capsolar effective Jan 14, 2021 to Jan 14, 2022. (Summarized from my original interpretation in the Jan 13-Feb 9 forecast.)
  • More severe than 2020, but a year of action instead of paralysis.
  • Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn continues to define conditions, emphasizing autonomous survival and solitary self-sufficiency.
  • MARS square SATURN (0°34', exactly angular). Harsh, hateful, hurtful, destructive hardship, e.g., deadly violence, fires, explosions, financial crises. Fosters hate + conflict arising from feeling powerless, shamed, diminished: Primitives competing for basic survival amidst widespread hardship.
  • JUPITER square URANUS (0°42'). Recovery and salvation through scientific advances and social revolution. Collective optimism anticipating good change. Broadly, boldly liberal government or political activism: Ideological rebellion, remapping the larger social contract, liberal social agendas (demanding wider horizons, expanded and diversified opportunity, civil liberties). Invention, futurism, new tech (or tech vision), and “good science” engage imagination. (Uncommon for disasters except floods.)
  • Activity and activism, rarely gentle or well-behaved.
  • Mars-Uranus. Explosive: physical or psychological "bombshells," surprise attack, sudden action, "lightning war" (blitzkrieg). Moon-Uranus. Swiftly changing circumstances requiring rapid adaptation and response. Moon-Mars. A broad sense of emergency: Violence, fire, disaster, damage, assassination (or other severe crisis for leaders).
  • Economic difficulties: Economic crisis and threatened markets (Jupiter to Mars-Saturn). Shifting conditions in banking and economic management (Pluto, Saturn, Jupiter in Capricorn). The upside: We surely need to consume significant resources for economic recovery.
  • Structural investment. Rebuilding economic foundations and physical infrastructure.
  • Spinning up the wheels of industry, economic expansion: Greater industry and productivity (from the same aspects).
  • Mars-Jupiter is stormy (including destructive weather). Forward momentum, expansive, with an enterprising spirit useful to recovery. Post-pandemic era of opportunity for new entrepreneurs, renewed entrepreneurial spirit, readily available capital investment.
Arisolar (Apr 14)
Effective Apr 14 to Oct 18. (Summarized from my original interpretation in the Apr 5-May 2 forecast.)
  • Jupiter on Dsc (0°38'), sq. Moon (1°37'). The best six months of the year. Increased prosperity overall: Return to work, a stabilizing economy, increased optimism and sense of well-being. Communities feel stronger, more secure. More good news than bad across the six months.
  • Saturn on WP (1°17). Survival challenges continue concurrent with emerging good news. Seriously rough times overlap the sense that things are improving. "Getting better" is gradual.
  • Saturn-Uranus square. Independence vs. restriction and liberal vs. conservative polarization. Long in restrictive lockdown conditions, people want to get out, to get back to their prior lives despite (or defying) the risks. Freedom vs. safety, the "old way" and "new way." Political opposition and gridlock threaten when we can least afford them.

MEDIUM-TERM (The Bridge)
Saturn on Capsolar Descendant expires a few days into this month, on 7/27, ending what are likely the four roughest months of 2021 for the U.S. (Next month, we enter the strongest stretch of outright recovery.)

Jul 28 to END: Pluto Sun. The 2021 Cansolar (dormant for Washington) has a partile Moon-Sun-Pluto T-square that creates worldwide transiting Pluto square Cansolar Moon plus CanQ Moon square ingress Sun-Pluto beginning July 17. From 7/28, these operate without the overlay of Saturn-Uranus transits. A dramatic configuration, Moon-Sun-Pluto shows upheaval, confrontation of the people with their government, assailing those in power and the ruling institutions, and defiant lawlessness around the world.

Pluto re-enters Sagittarius August 9 to wrap up unfinished business before returning to its 18-year term in Capricorn later this year. -- Summaries of longer-term trends from outer planet sign transits are here.

SHORT-TERM (Lunar Ingresses)

Liblunar (Jul 17)
Effective July 17-30. The Cansolar, half an hour earlier, has Moon square Sun-Pluto - all partile, but only widely foreground. In this Liblunar, the same three planets fall within 2° of angles in Washington. All aspects are within about half a degree: Sun square Moon is 0°01'. Moon-Sun aspects and angular Pluto show radical "phase shifts" that alter existing conditions. Moon-Sun especially shines a spotlight on government in general and the Chief Executive in particular. Adding a close mundane Moon-Saturn square and the July 18-22 Bridge, President Biden's safety and well-being are at risk. Moon-Sun aspects this powerful have also historically ignited major, impactful shifts in rhythmic or phase-like phenomena, like the stock market.

With ingress Mars (square Saturn) exactly angular in the Capsolar Quotidian for Washington July 17, the Secret Service is advised to be at their best. Also, the longitude shared by San Francisco, Portland, and Seattle is under fire for these two weeks (perhaps literally), with Seattle getting the worst of it.

Caplunar (Jul 23)
The Caplunar is dormant. (The West Coast gets a much-needed reprieve, with Venus and Jupiter lines instead of recent recurring malefic lines.)

Arilunar (Jul 30)
Effective July 30 to August 13. Hopefully the darkness of these two weeks will be the deep darkness that foreshadows dawn: Next month we begin to see promises of recovery and healing. Nonetheless, this Arilunar describes a dreadful fortnight. Sun, Moon, and Saturn are closely angular (Sun foremost) in mundane T-square. Closest aspects are Moon ecliptically square Pluto (0°14') and mundanely square Sun (0°14'). The Sun/Saturn midpoint is 0°22' from the horizon.

I am sorry to have to keep mentioning serious threats to President Biden's health and well-being. This ingress, with Sun-Saturn dominant, overlaps the concentrated Moon-Sun-Pluto aspects of the Bridge. Moon-Sun + Pluto emphasizes significant changes - literally phase changes in the greater pattern of things - and especial focus on solar figures, such as the Chief Executive. Besides threats to the life or standing of solar figures, Sun-Saturn anticipates sad events and arduous, demanding conditions. Another possibility is government gridlock or heavy lockdown, restriction, and control. This general spirit of hardship seems to be referring to specific events, not just widespread malaise. Moon-Saturn marks hardship, sacrifice, loss, and (again) sadness.

A high-impact natural disaster is well within the range of possibility for these aspects. For example, Pluto sets near New Orleans and coastal Mississippi.

Canlunar (Aug 6)
The Canlunar is dormant. For worldwide impact, Moon opposite Pluto is only 0°03' wide, suggesting that the most intensive aspects under the Arilunar occur in this second week.

Liblunar (Aug 13)
Effective Aug 13-19. Moon square Pluto (0°06') is the whole of this chart for the U.S. (Pluto is 0°29' from IC, Moon 0°41' from square MC.) The least this tells us is that this will be a high-impact week striking mass mind in the U.S. Under strong Moon-Pluto influences, events stun our sensibilities and halt the mind with their intensity. Marking unprecedented conditions and irrevocable shifts, the nature of these events makes them difficult to predict. Major examples from the past include deaths and departures of presidents and kings; uprisings and revolts; populist challenges to prevailing authority; and other staggeringly intense events, pleasant and unpleasant, that hold unflinching attention, from vast, destructive dismantling by hurricanes and other natural disasters to similar devastation and death caused by war, slaughter, and disease.

The Biden Report

SIDEREAL LUNAR RETURN (Jul 30)
Effective July 29 to Aug 27. During dreadful weeks for the nation, Pres. Biden has his grimmest lunar return of the year. At the least, his dignity and stature are at stake; at worst, the risk is to his life.

Sun-Saturn is the chief theme: Transiting Sun (Dsc 0°11'), natal Sun (MC 0°34'), and transiting Saturn (Asc 1°55') are angular. Transiting Sun and Saturn are opposed across the horizon, their midpoint on the angle, and they square natal Sun in mundo. For added impact, natal Pluto (Dsc 5°) is conjoined by transiting Sun (0°17') and opposed by Saturn.

In the national forecast, the Cansolar's Moon-Sun-Pluto T-square is dominant by transits and progressions. The new Arilunar has the same Sun-Saturn opposition across the horizon, in mundane T-square to Moon. Focus, therefore, is on survival, self-reliance, and struggle, which may include general difficulties, adversity, and even failures. Sun-Saturn shows primarily sad events, self-restraint, and self-punishment. It can be unfortunate for health (especially heart trouble and suppressed vitality).

There is astrological reprieve, but, it seems, a costly reprieve. Transiting Jupiter squares MC (1°22') and Biden's culminating Sun (1°04') and Venus (0°05'). By themselves, these are excellent indications for success, honor, and positive attention. However, Jupiter is afflicted: It opposes angular transiting Mars (1°). Mars also squares his Sun-Venus. At its best, Mars-Jupiter signifies competitive victory and achievement with much-needed strength. Routinely, it shows economic crisis or money trouble. Combined with the strong Saturn, it seems to say that he has to pay a high price for his wins.

With Saturn square his Venus (0°41'), Venus square his Saturn (0°17'), and a natal Venus-Pluto opposition (2°) formed in mundo by the return chart's orientation, events will involve someone or something dear to him: They will be heartbreaking. (Add, for this, transiting Neptune square natal Saturn 0°26' mundo.) This could mean events involve a member of his family; but, the scale of impactful events expected for the nation (based on the ingresses for Washington) suggests that these are not personal events.

NB - Vice President Harris' SLR for July 30 has natal Sun-Moon exactly on the horizon, transiting Sun-Mercury at Midheaven, and a Sun-Saturn opposition moderately foreground. The chart is consistent with emergence of her leadership touched by hardship, loss, or responsibility.

SIDEREAL DEMI-LUNAR RETURN (Aug 13)
Effective Aug 12 to Aug 27. This chart has none of the dread of the full lunar return. It shows changing circumstances, big shifts, rapid movement, and even heroism. More positive than not, it suggests that the wheel has turned to intervention, amelioration, and recovery.

Four themes stand out in this complicated return chart:
  1. Uranus rising (0°20'), Moon on EP (0°41'), and Pluto 5° off MC, with a 0°14' Moon-Pluto mundane square, speak of change, dramatic new course, and shifting conditions.
  2. Natal Mars and Jupiter (each about 1° from an angle) are in mundane square (0°28'), an aspect Biden doesn't have in his nativity. His Moon joins Mars-Jupiter in mundane T-square. This contributes strength, vitality, confidence, competitive excellence, and even heroism.
  3. Uranus opposes his Mars (0°43') and squares his Jupiter (1°11') mundanely. This suggests bold action, risk-taking, successfully forcing issues, a mind set on success and progress, and a willingness to (so to speak) go to war to succeed.
  4. Natal Sun-Venus is widely foreground. Transiting Jupiter squares natal Sun (0°40'). This puts a final positive spin on the chart.

This broke yesterday. Today, the Senate cleared the way for the vote on the infrastructure deal that has been locked in Saturn vs. Uranus paralysis for months.

News this morning is that the U.S. economy had surged back in the second quarter - meaning, April through June, more or less the period of the Arisolar - to return to pre-pandemic levels.

I may have gotten the location wrong. Redraw this chart for Albany where Saturn is closer to the angle, Sun and Moon a bit further away.

Solar Fire doesn't give us a way to create wheels that have our own data manually input, which is what would be necessary to, say, show a lunar return as a mundoscope with the natal planets in mundo on the center ring. President Biden's current SLR - the worst of the year, in which he caught all kinds of flak for the Afghanistan departure - is one of those charts where it really helps to see it all in front of you. The main feature of the chart is the Sun-Saturn opposition across the horizon in mundane square to natal Sun at MC.

I've hand drawn the chart with the two mundoscopes to make this clearer. (I really wish SF had facility to make this easier.) Please take a moment to check out this full visual to get the whole impact of the chart. - I've then attached most of my original discussion immediately below. (I should have emphasized Mercury-Saturn more: It usually manifests as snafus, plans not working properly, etc.) The mundoscope, of course, doesn't show the important ecliptical aspects, but you all have the means to look at those on your own. But a LOT in this chart isn't evident without the dual mundoscope.

Excellent observations with the mundoscope Jim. You know I totally agree with you about your observations with mundoscopes, the astrologer at times misses a-lot without implementing the mundoscope.

I made notes when you first reported this nasty Biden SLR many months ago. Now we can see how this one SLR timed a very malefic time period for Biden. I know of no other astrological methods other than Sidereal Return Charts which can offer such precise timing for important life incidents. IMO, Fagan & Bradley rediscovered the most important astrological discoveries of the 20th Century for astrology.
