1847 Nagano earthquake

Post by Jim Eshelman »

May 8, 1847, 21:30 LMT, epicenter 37N x 138E but with most destruction in Nagano, Japan
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1847_Nagano_earthquake

Magnitude 7.4. Over 8,600 casualties from landslides and destruction of homes. Largest landslide dammed a river, but the dam failed 19 days later, causing a flood that killed 35 more people.

Studying from the coordinates of Nagano (near the epicenter at 36N39, 138E11, and the center of the worst damage and largest population center). The event chart is a symbolism fail (as I find is true at least half the time), as it occurred with a close Venus-Jupiter conjunction setting. However - even worse - this benefics including this Venus-Jupiter conjunction are present in all the solar and lunar ingresses: I'm not aware of anything about the event that makes this appropriate at all.

The only thing that saves this in the slightest is that the Capsolar daily methods are so neutral that the other three ingresses kick in to mark the day. The CanQ is adequate but not very concentrated. With the AriQ, we something distinctive and fitting for the first time.

Overall, this is a pretty bad showing.
