U.S. Transiting Neptune square natal Mars

Within the next year, Neptune will transit square U.S. natal Mars. (We have them square at birth.) Here are the dates of prior exact conjunctions, oppositions, and squares - can you see patterns in these dates we should know about now?

I see only very broad themes (that were not necessarily limited to those years). Mostly they are toxic emotions, racist and other: Intensifications of slavery, Indian wars. The U.S. was not the center of most of the news/events I find. I wonder if these are mostly anxious, worrisome times before something broke out later, e.g., the lead-in years ahead of the Civil War (without exact, specific events in those times, just the building emotions), or the years Europe moved into WW II when the U.S. wasn't involved but was sitting around worrying about the future. 1898, though, was the actual Spanish-American War, not the lead-in. May-June 1981 was when the first CDC mention of AIDS appeared - again, a cloud of generic apprehension ahead of something else.

Perhaps we're moving into a new Cold War that is more anxiety and worry than overt conflict?
