Haiti president Moise assassinated

Haiti's president, Jovenel Moise, was assassinated early today in his home by a group of unidentified assailants described as "highly trained and heavily armed." His wife was also shot, but we don't yet know her condition.

Haiti as a nation is having deep problems. At least in the short-run, this makes them a lot worse.

The "around 1:00" time came from a public statement by the prime minister.

The assault occurred under this week's severe worldwide transiting aspects, about the time that Uranus (squared by Saturn, Venus, and Mars) rose - Saturn in Zenith. As we enter the ingresses, we see that, as usual, the Capsolar sets it up beautifully, having much the same active factor as in Washington. The other charts are somewhat good except there is a strong Jupiter presence that (I am assuming for now) is inappropriate. The CapQ has several planets in the general vicinity of the angles, but only one utterly fitting in orb. (Transiting Saturn was just outside orb of Capsolar Descendant.)

UPDATE 7/8: CNN reports that four suspects connected to the attack were killed by police, and two others detained. All were non-Haitian. "Haiti's borders and international airport are closed, and martial law has been imposed since the attack. Acting Prime Minister Claude Joseph declared a state of siege in the country and is pleading with citizens to stay calm. Moise’s death comes amid deep political instability. Many key roles in Haiti’s government have been vacant and the parliament effectively defunct." (CNN)
