USA Mundane Forecast
for the four weeks beginning May 16, 2017
LONG-TERM PATTERNS Map 1 Map 2
For the twelve months beginning January 14, the United States Year chart promotes greater optimism. It might be the best, most interesting year we've had in quite a while. Jupiter is most angular (IC, 0°56'). Uranus is on Midheaven (3°01') opposite Jupiter (1°41'). Sun squares MC (1°14') and Jupiter (2°37').
JUPITER OPPOSITE URANUS brings ideological rebellion - both peaceful and violent forms, as diverse as Woodstock and the storming of the Bastille. Expect remapping of the larger social contract, pushing for wider horizons and expanded opportunities. Proponents of liberal social and political agendas raise their voices, demanding civil rights and social justice. At best, it brings collective optimism, inventiveness, new tech vision, and futurism. Political and thought leaders show more insight and resourcefulness in the face of vast complexity.
However, SUN-JUPITER promises plenty of self-serving, elitist "politics as usual" in the mix, motivated by a non-philanthropic tendency of people with money and power wanting more money and power.
With Jupiter most angular, the year is overall optimistic. Expect victories (e.g., military victories and athletic wins), diplomacy and peace, and heightened prosperity, economic expansion, and a spirit of abundance, celebration, and national pride. With Sun angular, the authority of government is a larger, more persistent presence in the typical American's life. As Sun is well aspected, this will be mostly a beneficent presence.
Arisolar (April 14) Map 1 Map 2
A dormant ARISOLAR brings only a Moon-Neptune mundane square (0°27'). Primarily, this filters everything else through a fun-house mirror's distortions. Possible expressions are so diverse they are hard to anticipate. Expect a heightened sense of deception and sleight-of-hand, even scandal. Extreme waves of emotional reaction, hysteria, panic, fervor, and herd-mind arousal are added to every other eventuality, accompanied by confusion, disorientation, uncertainty, and undermined feelings of safety. The world gets less rational and more emotionally reactive for the three months mid-April through mid-July.
BRIDGE
May 16-28 (continuing from last month) is a MARS-PLUTO Zone. The pair is violent, ferocious, often with explosive unleashing of force (e.g., bombs, vehicular collisions and explosions, wars and other aggression, shooting massacres, earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, and fires that release explosive force). Most acutely, transiting Mars simultaneously opposes Cansolar MC and Cansolar Moon May 21-24. A similar double-transit marked the Chelsea bombing last September and other historic violence such as the murder of Egyptian president Anwar Sadat in 1981.
May 29-30 is a PLUTO Zone which, atypically, may be the safest time of the month - the only two days when Mars or Saturn isn't active in the Bridge. Pluto's usual traits persist as an underlying continuity.
May 31 - June 5 and again June 11-12 is a SATURN-PLUTO Zone, as Saturn begins to conjoin Cansolar Midheaven - a transit that persists until the Cansolar expires in mid-July. This pair brings harsh, dramatic tragedies with profound feelings of irrevocable loss or separation, sometimes with an apocalyptic feel. This will be most acute when it is triggered by other planets, or once Saturn's transit becomes partile next month.
One of those acute times is June 6-10, a MARS-SATURN-PLUTO Zone, which seems the most dangerous, volatile time of the month. The trigger, which affects the whole world, is Mars' opposition to CanQ Moon, a transit that always brings violence, blood, fire, bombs, accidents, and other deadly destruction. We will get off easy if the lunar ingresses (discussed below) tame this to extreme saber rattling and international taunts.
LUNAR INGRESSES
Caplunar (May 16)
The Caplunar describes May 16 to June12, and especially the first two weeks (May 16 to May 28). In the face of the tense, threatening transits to the Cansolar described above, it is something of a relief and of puzzlement; for this is one of the most benefic, protective charts in many months. Venus rises closely, opposite a setting Jupiter.
I admit, I don't know how to weight these antithetic messages. I think that, under a substantially benefic Capsolar and thoroughly benefic Caplunar, there is protection against the worst disasters. On the other hand, it is hard to dismiss concurrent Mars, Saturn, and Pluto transits to solar ingress angles. I think the universe has a surprise in store for us.
Venus-Jupiter foreground aspects are exceedingly rare for tragic events. It may deflect events such as fires, explosions, natural disasters, and attacks from this present month to next month, when Saturn is even closer to Cansolar MC. It may let them happen but with negligible casualties. It may refer to a different set of events. Or it may provide context, as when it has accompanied fires in luxury and recreational settings, brought reverence and devotion in the immediate aftermath of tragedy, or highlighted the elite, aristocratic, and privileged.
Venus-Jupiter angular promises celebration, victories, festivities, love, world-witnessed weddings and births, and general happiness. Events center on celebrities. And, of course, the northeast can expect significant above-average rainfall.
For most of this year, Moon-Uranus aspects occur in every lunar ingress, including this one (a 1°15' square). For nearly any week of 2017, therefore, we can expect sudden, explosive, eruptive events and shifting conditions of many kinds. (This month, that includes flooding; and, in Washington, I think the month will bring greater populist revolt targeting those in power.) Remember a similar Moon-Uranus dominance last year when every week (nearly every day) brought surprises in a continual stream of reinventing expectations. We can expect much the same for the next several months.
Arilunar (May23)
The Arilunar covering May 23 to May 28 is dormant, so the Caplunar persists without dilution. In addition to the close Moon-Uranus conjunction, universal to the world, Washington has a partile mundane Moon-Saturn square. This week has much more tension than last week, especially from competing views of freedom vs. those things that diminish it. Great loss accompanies the continuing shifting of the political landscape. We (and perhaps even those elected to serve us) are forced to confront harsher realities amidst hardship, sacrifice, loss, and sadness.
Canlunar (May 28)
The Canlunar covers May 28 to June 19 (due to the dormancy of the next two ingresses). Of its two primary messengers, the first is Moon-Uranus: the usual close square occurs with Uranus as the most angular planet of the ingress, square Ascendant within 0°49'. The whole universe seems restless, impatient, and unwilling to play be its usual rules. We expect only the unexpected, in the form of sudden, explosive, eruptive events and shifting conditions.
The other pattern also involves Moon, and also is destabilizing, facts that are consistent with periods of instability in the populace and rising up of the masses as an outraged, corrective herd. Specifically, Moon, Mercury, and Pluto are all 4-7° from angles and aspect each other within 1-2°.
This combination is complex, and the high activity of Uranus and Pluto makes circumstances hard to predict, favoring long odds and unlikely circumstances. Moon-Mercury usually boils down to an enormous stream of data unfurling (yet also to particulars, from accelerated market activity to air attacks), with the media being unusually involved. Mercury-Pluto sparks unwilling disclosures, and streams of information that require us to reframe our thinking about things. The whole is strategic, analytical, penetrating, and enormously busy. Moon-Pluto events stun our sensibilities with their uprooting, separating, distinguishing, "no going back" character.
Unrelated to Washington, there is a partile Mars-Saturn opposition, only 0°06' wide, and quite background for our capital. Nonetheless, there are places in the world where it is angular, and where great severity and hardship can be expected this week. These places include part of the western United States (see the next post below, regarding Other Locations), and also eastern Europe (Denmark, Poland, Slovakia, Romania, and Turkey - Istanbul is right between them); the heart of the western Middle East, especially Lebanon, Syria, and Israel, with Beirut, Damascus, and Jerusalem heavily afflicted, but also Tehran (by a square); the west coast of Saudi Arabia; the eastern tip of Brazil; and, in Asia, most importantly Tokyo; and, finally, parts of Australia. As I look at the maps, my strongest intuitions single out Tokyo and, secondarily, Tehran (which has some significant victory connected to the aspect).
Liblunar (June 4)
The Liblunar covering June 4-12 is dormant, so the Canlunar persists. Venus and Uranus are conjunct for the whole world, and Moon opposes them both. Expect additional themes around the world of diplomatic efforts and changing relationships between nations. The aspect is most angular: eastern Europe, particularly Czechoslovakia, Slovakia, Hungary, and on south through Greece; parts of Africa including western Egypt and eastern Libya, Sudan, etc.; eastern China and the Philippines; and many more places.
