I just received a vedic astrology reading (Eastern world) and he looked at my astrocartography and said the venus square asc line is negative. But I read on this forum that the square is not negative, that it is just really strong, which would mean it's really good. But he insisted it's negative, that I would struggle with finding love and monetary success because of the square. Why does everyone else (including the Eastern world) think the squares mean difficulties?

He also said that the southeast like Charleston, Savannah and St. Augustine, Tampa etc would be better for me since it doesn't have the square like New Orleans does. He said I'd find romantic and monetary success more so with those cities because of the jupiter trine line. But Isn't the trines not valid?

Now I'm confused as to if New Orleans is better for me to live because of the venus square, or one of the southeast cities because of the jupiter trine line (the mentioned places are the only ones I am considering living in).

I visited New Orleans and loved it, which didn't happen for me in Atl, I did not care for Atl when I visited. I loved how I felt in new Orleans and loved the culture and traits of the city (arts, music, community, fun, etc). But he's saying no on it cause of venus square. Would the southeast cities I named really be better for me due to the jupiter trine? (he said Jupiter is my husband and also the monetary success in vedic). Could what he's saying be true or should I really disregard it?

Old habit. BTW, that's primarily a Western interpretation. It's certainly not "Vedic," since they assess aspects completely differently. The idea of a square between Venus and an angle isn't a "Vedic" idea at all but, apparently, someone adopting Western Tropical astrology teachings.

I think that gives you your answer, right? While I think this other astrologer is completely wrong and using invalid methods, the most neutral thing I can say is that he and I disagree sharply. TYour experience, though, is the ultimate measure.

I think you've answered you own question - and I'm delighted that you found just how wonderful New Orleans could be (in general and for you in particular).

I think you should disregard it.

BTW, while I don't think any of the house rulership stuff is valid (on which Tropical and Vedic astrology both rely heavily), I do know the system pretty well and the last thing you quoted from him makes me doubt his ability. First, your "husband" and "monetary success" houses are ruled by Mars and, yes, Mars is well-aspected by Jupiter. (Jupiter aspecting Sagittarius planets is considered very positive in that system.) But Jupiter itself is in a horrible condition by Hindu methods, probably your worst planet. I'm stunned that anyone professing to practice "Vedic" methods would even consider highlighting Jupiter for your well-being.

But, in another sense, that doesn't matter a lot because I don't think the methods work in the first place.
