While in Taiwan closing a real estate deal, Donald Trump today called the Taiwanese president for a nice, friendly chat, acknowledging her office, her country, and more.

For perspective: After Richard Nixon opened U.S. relations with the Republic of China, a condition was that we no longer recognize the Taiwanese government, which Beijing regards as renegades. We have continued in many fruitful kinds of alliances with Taiwan since then, but without ever out-loud acknowledging their government as authentic. (We act it. We don't say it.)

No U.S. president or similar rank official has spoken directly to the leadership in Taiwan since 1979.

China is expected to be fiercely up in arms. They have threatened war for a lesser affront. The geopolitical implications of this phone call are (I won't say it any other way) huge.

Transiting Uranus is currently 10; from CapQ Moon and getting closer. Transiting Saturn squares Cansolar Ascendant (and getting closer). A Jupiter-Pluto square is sitting on the Capsolar angles. Stay tuned for more fun!

December 1st, 2016 about 9 PM, the National Weather Service office in Honolulu issued a winter storm warning saying two feet of snow was expected on Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea. It snowed on and off all day the 2nd and the roads are closed. Mauna Kea is where all the observatories are. Additional accumulations are expected through Sunday night, up to about 30".

The warning itself issued the Uranus exactly on MC, a few degrees from opposite Jupiter on IC and Venus on Descendant and Pluto on IC. That, in itself, is classic.

Weirdness and odds-breaking were expected for some part of the year, since THE CAPSOLAR has Pluto rising closely and Uranus partile square Ascendant. Sun is on EP. Hawaii also gets the worst of THE LIBSOLAR, just like Washington - the Mars-Pluto rising, Sun-Uranus along the meridian.

We expect weather conditions especially from the lunar ingresses. We don't get that in the usual sense (e.g., precipitation). THE LIBLUNAR has Mars < 3° from Asc. I don't know if any outright damage was done (I doubt it), but this is what we'd expect from the week.

Neptune squares CapQ Ascendant, with Saturn on its EP (appropriate for this kind of cold-water surprise, I think). Mars is on CanQ MC. This all sounds more destructive and hurtful than I'd expect even so unusual a snowfall from being.

A warehouse in Oakland, which was artist space and was hosting a large party, caught fire last night. Of the roughly 100 people present, at least 9 are dead; 25 are still missing and may be dead. UPDATE: It is now suspected 40 have died.

Just before 3 PM, December 3rd,2016, people working on a house at Berkshire and York, near historic Kendall Square in Cambridge, MA reported a fire. By 3:30 this was a nine alarm fire (nine fire companies called out) and became a 10 alarm before 4 PM. Like in California, this was very fast moving. There are now at least nine homes and a church converted to apartments showing flames. A of 5PM, 1600 residences were without power, and at 5:40 PM, firefighters were told to evacuate the area, while cars burned in the streets. Smoke is billowing through the streets of Boston.

Thanks for the data and catching that Mars line. When I saw the headline for this pop up, my first thought was the current Liblunar, which is still the lunar ingress for the nation. Though I didn't predict fire specifically, Mars is right on the MC. On either side of the Caplunar switch-over, this flowing-through Liblunar is easily read "fire prone" for the nation.

Cambridge has Mars partile conjunct Descendant in the CAPSOLAR (among other things). Uranus is partile on EP in the LIBSOLAR (and partile opposite Sun mundanely).

And yes, as you mentioned, in the new CAPLUNAR Mars squares Ascendant 0°22.

For everywhere, we have Uranus' transit to CapQ Moon (0°06' at the moment) - in the last week or so, we've been seeing more acute, volatile examples of this (whereas, mostly, the volatility was psychological before that). Today is also the day that transiting Uranus moved within 2° orb of square Cambridge's Capsolar MC.

The CanQ has transiting Mars square Midheaven 1°10', and Cansolar Mars square its Ascendant (1°35').

At the above time, Venus was on MC in North Dakota. I imagine a great celebration broke loose. In Washington, Mars was on MC, with Sun and Saturn straddling Descendant: Folks there were in the middle of a struggle.

For Washington, we know what the long-term charts look like - the Capsolar and Libsolar. The new Caplunar is dormant. The Liblunar flows through, with Sun and Mars on angles.

At the above time, CapQ MC squared transiting Neptune. For the world, Uranus transited CapQ Moon 0°03'. Pluto, Uranus, and Jupiter transit Capsolar angles (Jupiter just 14' past square to MC, perhaps the firsts major event to incorporate this into the Uranus-Pluto mix). Transiting Saturn squared Cansolar Asc within 0°05'.

Now, for the location where it happened, for a comparison...

For the year - THE CAPSOLAR - Venus sq. Asc 0°17', Jupiter on WP 0°53' (and 2°14' above Dsc), Neptune 3°41' above Asc, Moon widely foreground and in mundane conjunction with Uranus (2°33') - which gives us the "populist revolt" element.

THE LIBSOLAR has Neptune 0°53' above Asc. That's marked the area since mid-October.

THE NEW CAPLUNAR shows the reason to party. A Moon-Venus conjunction (0°08') is within 1°+ of square Ascendant. Uranus is 3°04' below Dsc, Jupiter 6°43' above Asc, and the squeak within 4° of a mundane opposition. This is what we expect from Jupiter-Uranus. The Moon-Venus squares both Jupiter and Uranus mundanely, Moon-Jupiter being only 0°37' in mundo. Transiting Uranus conjoins CapQ Moon 3' like everywhere else.

IN THE CanQ, MC exactly conjoins t. Uranus (53'), with Mercury-Venus exactly conjoined on Asc. (This Asc is, to the degree, opposite Cansolar Asc.)

I'm pleased with each individual read, and the contrast between them for the respective locations.

For the "things that make you want to shriek GET A GRIP!" file...

So there were all kinds of fake news stories during the election, including some tweeted by the man Trump has chosen as his National Security Advisor no less, claiming Hillary and John Podesta were pedophiles or running child porn rings or whatever filth some jerk thought up to try to help elect Trump. None of them were even a whiff of true, of course, but internet trolls have to say something.

One of the fake stories said Hillary and Podesta kept children in tunnels under the Ping Pong Pizza restaurant in Chevy Chase, MD, and maybe some of the other businesses there as well. Ping Pong is a family restaurant near Connecticut and Nebraska avenues NW in the Chevy Chase.

Somebody named Edgar Maddison Welch, 28 years old, of Salisbury NC, arrived at the Ping Pong about 3PM yesterday, and pointed a long gun at an employee. The employee ran hearing the gun discharge behind him, and called police who arrived shortly after. About 45 minutes passed before the jerk walked out of the restaurant and lay down in the street and was arrested. The man said he was "self-investigating" the story about the tunnels. It appears nobody notice this man was odd before they let him have a gun.

I have no words to describe my feelings about this incident, but it relates in my mind to Dylan Root murdering all those people in the Charlotte church. I'm glad nobody was hurt this time.

Attorney General Cooper is the new governor of NC. McCrory conceded. Cooper is the democratic candidate. McCrory is the one who pushed through the bathroom bill, insisting trans people had to use the bathroom for the gender on their birth certificates. The recount in Durham County isn't finished, but Cooper is over 10,000 votes ahead.

I think it was about 12:15 AM he put out a video concession on youtube.

There's so much going on in the Carolinas today, it's hard to keep track - and, from the lunar ingress maps, it's basically a really Marsy part of the country.

Notice how much things have accelerated the last few days, like speeding to a finish line - just as we approach the 0°00' orb of transiting Uranus conjunct CapQ Moon. The sort of thing expected is:

Sudden, explosive, eruptive, shifting conditions, including surprise attacks, characterized both by their sudden and explosive nature, and, especially, by rapidly changing conditions that require quick adaptation and reorientation, new learning, and new responses. This can include new technology, new strategic approaches, and the opportunity to witness secrets of nature previously inaccessible to us, as well as civil instability and events marking new levels of human freedom.


Read this very literally, and also flexibly... it catches the tone of the "everything is happening so fast" last few days, and also most of the big stories, in one way or the other. This feels sooooo different from the Moon-Saturn and Moon-Pluto periods we've tracked the last few years. It does seem to mark a period where life has the capacity to surprise us - over and over again - with letting up.

Just saw news about recount in Michigan and Wisconsin and that Jill Stein has managed to raise 7 million dollars and is going to take this to the Federal Court.

And connected to this, one of the republican electorals has announced that he will not vote for Trump on Dec. 19th.

The question is if he and others will be able to start something bigger, a wave of change that will surprise us all. That would certainly be in line with all those surprises this year has brought and in line with the dominant Capsolar Uranus-Pluto "radical, uprooting influence - revolutionary, revising, remapping, anti-establishment, often anti-government, desiring to dismantle current systems and tears down iconic structures".

If these elections will result in the US changing that silly and outdated electoral college system, then we will have seen a great change happen already. But then you also seem to have another problem regarding elections in the US that needs fixing. You need to have elections on weekends like most other countries do to make it easier for people to vote and from what I understand so far is that you need to open up more places for people to vote.

The answer is: No, but I did check it. In fact, one forum participant said a few months ago that she used them and placed high reliability on them, and so I though, OK, I should check this. I took a couple of categories of mundane events from SMA (one was fires, I forgot the other) - categories where the events were clear and the astrological pattern is well documented and clear - and ran the most recent solar ingress for each, excluding examples where the most recent was a Rim sign. Outcome: really bad. Barely a single chart that gave what we would look for or anything strongly supporting the same sort of event.

My theory is that the Rims hold to the metaphor of their name and show the outermost expression - things that precipitate into the world as externalization - and, therefore, have a unique hold on this sort of thing. But that's only a theory, and I'm not sure what it buys us even if the explanation is correct

No survivors are expected from the roughly 47 passengers and crew aboard a Pakistan International Airlines plane crash December 7.

The crash was in the mountainous Havelian area of Pakistan, about 77 miles north of Islamabad, December 7, 2016, losing communication with trackers (after a mayday call)about 4:30 PM (11:30 UT).

Hopefully, more details will emerge to document this event better but, for now, we can consider it December 7, 2016, 11:30 UT, Havelian, Pakistan. This shows Mars on Midheaven for the time of the crash.

COMMENT: This is a technically interesting event. The solar and lunar ingresses are worse than worthless - they are quite contrary to the event. They certainly don't paint a picture of the outcome as we know it. But the Bridge alone very decisively singles out two and a half weeks when that location was dominated by Moon-Mercury-Uranus (which the world is feeling) plus Mars and Saturn. From this fortnight-plus, the day is singled out by Mars crossings in both Capo and Can methods. In fact, this event matches something we see repeatedly in transportation disasters, that the crash occurs when the vehicle passes under a Mars line (in this case, two of them, plus Mars culminating at the time and place of the crash). More exacting location information may tweak this a little. - I can't say it's a great showing, except that it's a fascinating, educational showing.

Magnitude 6.5, December 8, 2016, 14:49:46 UT (6:49:46 AM PST), 40N28'30'', 126W09'11'' (99 miles west of Ferndale, CA; some news reports are referring to this as "west of Eureka").

CNN is reporting this as M6.8, but USGS gives it as 6.5 at present. So far, no injuries are reported, and the consequences are "weak or light shaking in parts of northern California, including as far south as San Francisco" (CNN). We should not expect signs of damage, but should expect signs of heightened nervousness (Neptune in the lead?) and any indications that are purely about the geological event.

COMMENT: The considerable amount of Venus in these ingresses is consistent with events where nobody actually got hurt - "no harm, no foul." There are strategic placements of Pluto for impact, but the overall impression is a Venus event - which I think is "happy, relieved." Also a lot of Mercury, so this would grab the news. None of the typical quake indicators is present other than the ongoing Uranus transit to CapQ Moon and the highly localized mundane Moon-Mars square in the Libsolar.

I suppose it's worth looking at the question: What (if any) astrological pattern emerges for the death (from natural causes, not assassination) of an almost universally regarded national hero. Charts for Washington:

We know what the Capsolar and Libsolar look like, so let's move on to something more recent.

LIBLUNAR: Mars and Sun on angles and in close mundane square. I would never have predicted an event like this from this chart, but it seems heroically fitting. (The CAPLUNAR is dormant, with Moon-Venus and Moon-Jupiter aspects.)

CAPQ" Besides the ongoing Uranus transit to CapQ Moon (10' at the time), CapQ MC was still within 2° orb of conjunct s. Saturn. The Moon-Uranus is even more interesting because it's a progressed Moon-Mercury square with Uranus aspecting both of them; and I bet there haven't been as many people reading and rereading about the space program history on one day in... oh, maybe decades.

Transits to Capsolar include so many things, including Jupiter, Uranus, and Pluto to angles.

Transits to Cansolar include t. Saturn sq. Asc within a degree.

Pretty interesting, actually.

This quake isn't really all that important. It was big, nobody died, and some old, fragile construction fell down. What I find interesting, though, is the stream of large quakes in the last couple of days. I suspect they are connected - more like one setting off the others, than that Krypton is doomed. Perhaps all arising out of Uranus conjunction with CapQ Moon. Not sure. But it's interesting.

This one, originally posted as M8.0, is actually M7.8 (still pretty big) 43 miles fro Kirakira, Solomon Islands.

(A M6.5 quake occurred at roughly the same place four and a half hours later.)

At the time of the quake, Mars was 0°54' off IC.

COMMENT: I think it's a perfect example of a quake occurring but primarily showing that nobody got hurt, the matter would hit the news, and a few old structures would fall down under their own weakness. Solar ingresses doubly show Saturn + Neptune, while having benefics strongly in place. The Bridge has the Uranus elements etc. The Caplunar mixes benefics and impact, with the "structural collapse" Jupiter-Uranus and probably too powerful a Jupiter-Pluto (since I doubt there was anything resembling major impact on the local economy). The CapQ has the Uranus and Mercury factors with a couple of clear "bad day" markers.

CNN summarized: "Three major terror attacks hit the Middle East and Africa this weekend. In Istanbul, two blasts outside of a soccer arena killed 44 on Saturday night. In Cairo, an explosion ripped through a church on Sunday morning, killing 25. Also on Sunday, a car bomb at a port in Mogadishu, Somalia killed 20. From what we know, the attacks all had different motives and perpetrators."

Let's break these down... see if I can find some more explicit data...

ISTANBUL. "Late Saturday night, December 10, after a heavily attended soccer game... Two blasts about a mile apart killed at least 44 people, most of them police officers, and wounded 150. A remote control detonated a car bomb in the first explosion and a suicide bomber caused the second." A Kurdish group took credit.

CAIRO. "During Sunday morning mass at Cairo's main Coptic house of worship... A bomb ripped through a section of the church for women, killing at least 25 and injuring dozens more. President Abdel Fattah El Sisi condemned the attack and declared a three-day period of national mourning." Nobody has taken credit yet.

MAGADISHU.Sunday around 7:30 a.m. "A car bomb filled with explosives rammed into the main entrance of a port, killing at least 20 people and injuring 15, most of whom were port employees and pedestrians." Al Shabaab (the Somalian Al-Qaeda franchise) took credit for killing 30 officers.

So, first of all, was there anything general happening this weekend?

We had a Sun-Saturn conjunction - we have those annually, and 90° aspects four times a year. The only other thing I see is that Mars, at the end of Capricorn, was sitting exactly on its exaltation degree. This degree has shown itself repeatedly to be genuinely martial in nature so, just maybe, that's what was going on. (Anyone else want to run through periods of Mars hitting 28° Capricorn in the past and report to us?)

We are also still vulnerable to surprising, startling, explosive events with transiting Uranus conjunct CapQ Moon.

On to the particulars.

Istanbul has been under a year with Mars on Capsolar IC. The Caplunar has a Sun-Neptune square on angles - generally chaos - plus Mars just a little wider. The Uranus-Moon transit in the CapQ is square CapQ Ascendant (but so is Jupiter - so, either this is a miss, or we're going to see a year of ideological explosiveness under this Jupiter-Uranus).

CAIRO. "During Sunday morning mass at Cairo's main Coptic house of worship... A bomb ripped through a section of the church for women, killing at least 25 and injuring dozens more. Cairo also has Mars on Capsolar IC for the year - not that they've had it calm there for a long time anyway. Their Caplunar is weighted a bit differently, with the most angular planet being the rising Neptune. Sun and Saturn are also foreground, but not Mars. Saturn and Neptune have a foreground mundane aspect < 3°.

This time, the CapQ has transiting and ingress Pluto exactly on Dsc.

MAGADISHU. Sunday around 7:30 a.m. "A car bomb filled with explosives rammed into the main entrance of a port, killing at least 20 people and injuring 15, most of whom were port employees and pedestrians." Al Shabaab (the Somalian Al-Qaeda franchise) took credit for killing 30 officers.


Somalia's capital, with a dormant Capsolar, has had a Cansolar with the Sun-Uranus square on angles - so we would expect this to be an attack on the government and its agents (and we'd be right). But the Libsolar has Moon on MC, so the people themselves are foremost, and major incidents should either involve them directly or, at the very least, occur in crowded, herded areas. (Not sure if that applies here or not.)

The Caplunar isn't hugely helpful. Mercury is on MC. In hindsight, this shows a strategically planned, military style engagement, and perhaps emphasizes that this is a "message" attack. (Mercury is not common for bombs and mass murder unless they are terrorist events or otherwise have the characteristics of planned, deployed military operations.)

But the CapQ certainly picks the day, by rotating Uranus' conjunction with CapQ Moon to Midheaven, while Descendant crosses the Plutos. That is, it combines the Istanbul and Cairo CapQ events.

"About an hour and a half ago" said at 2:50 PM EST, a truck drove into a Christmas Market in downtown Berlin, Germany, on Kurfürstendamm near the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church. (I can only find tweets so far from an hour ago.) Not known if it was accidental or on purpose. Market was packed, at least one dead, many crushed according to eye witnesses.

The Germans have stopped several plots against Christmas Markets so far this season. Three days ago a 12 year old was caught trying to bomb a Christmas Market.

Update, at least 9 killed, more than 50 injured.

In what is most likely a terrorists attack like that on the Riviera a few months back, a large truck (semi) slammed through pedestrians in a Berlin street market Monday evening. 12 people died, and 48 others were injured.

The attack occurred December 19, 2016, 8:14 PM CET, in Berlin. (If anybody wants the exact coordinates, they are 52N30'19", 13E20'04", but I'll probably just use central Berlin for convenience.)

Mercury square MC (a truck!) keeps Berlins 2016 CAPSOLAR from being dormant, opening the way for the more widely foreground Uranus and Pluto (which are closely square). berlin also has a mundane Moon-Pluto square (1°16').

The LIBSOLAR is nearly as harsh for Berlin as for Washington, with the Mars-Pluto conjunction on WP for starters, Mercury most angular, and the Sun-Uranus wider (but opposed to each other).

The Caplunar is dormant (which pleases me because, until I saw how far everything really was from the angles, I thought the chart was all wrong). The CANLUNAR, though, has Mars square Ascendant (1°30') and Saturn widely on EP (2°10').

The CapQ isn't cooperative. Yes, universally it has a Moon-Mercury progression and a Uranus-Moon transit; but the angles hit the Capsolar's Venus-Jupiter square (though it does bring that Moon-Mercury square to the angles, which fits in various ways). The shake-up is not in the quotidian, but in the Capsolar itself, with transiting Uranus 0°05' from MC. OTOH this brings the Jupiter-Uranus opposition exactly to the Capsolar meridian, which is the third we've seen something like a terrorist attack under very specific Jupiter-Uranus. (Venus isn't as close as in Turkey.)

The CanQ comes in strong with quotidian MC square ingress Mars exacxtly (0°03').

The Russian Ambassador to Turkey was shot in the back by a radicalized Turkish police officer at the opening of an art installation of photos of Russia taken by a Turk. (Russia through Turkish Eyes) about three hours ago. so about Noon, EST. The assalt took place in central Ankara.

This morning, I'm finding that Ambassador Andrey Karlov (born February 4, 1954 FWIW) was shot December 19 at 8:15 PM, in Ankara.

First, for Turkey...
Ankara has all four solar ingresses dormant. Picking up with the CAPLUNAR, though, we get right to it: Neptune rises (2°34'), Saturn is on MC (3°23'), and they are in mundane square (0°49'). Moon conjoins Venus (0°08') for the whole world, and so far there haven't been retaliations (but I'm not confident that will persist). Neptune squares Sun, but Sun itself is not foreground.

Basically, it's Saturn-Neptune.

The CANLUNAR then doubles up. Saturn rises (1°40'), Sun rises (3°45' on the other side).

For daily patterns, the CapQ, first, has its longer-term factors of p. Moon sq. p, Mercury (10'), and being itself transited by Uranus (45'). For the day and hour, p. MC squares ingress Pluto (45') and t. Pluto (1°39'). The CanQ add t. Mars sq. p. Asc (31').

Next, for Russia...
Moscow has a dormant Capsolar. Its CANSOLAR has Pluto 0°45' from WP, the universal Moon-Jupiter sq. (1°51'), a foreground Mercury-Venus conjunction (0°18' in mundo) and a widely foreground Uranus. No one doubts that the Bear has been rousing from its slumber this year. The Libsolar is also dormant, so this Cansolar is the sole solar ingress for Moscow for the present.

However, as with Turkey, it is the CAPLUNAR that gets things going. It's quite simple. Mars is 1°43' above Asc, Neptune is 2°27' below, and their midpoint is 0°22' from the angle. (Venus is very widely foreground.) I think this describes not only the present event, but much that has originated from Moscow since December 3.

The CANLUNAR has Mercury 0°31' from EP - this isn't the first time I've seen a tightly angular Mercury when an ambassador was the central figure, though we have two few cases to stake a generalization. Saturn and Neptune, Jupiter and Uranus, and Sun are all widely foreground, with the key probably being in their aspects: Moon opposes Pluto (1°42' in mundo), and a mundane Sun-Jupiter-Uranus T-square, Sun-Uranus being closest (17'). Jupiter and Saturn are also closely square (1°27').

[I had the daily stuff here, and then my internet connection borked and I lost the save. I'll try to get back and replace it. It's pretty amazing stuff. Perhaps the most interesting is transiting Mars conjoining Moscow's Capsolar Dsc.]

December 20, 2016, about 3 p.m. at the San Pablito fireworks market in Tultepec (about 25 miles north of Mexico City) in Mexico, the market blew up, killing at least 27 and injuring at least 70 more. (19°40'08.3"N 99°07'40.1"W)

The explosions went on for more than an hour producing huge amounts of smoke.

The Capsolar shows Jupiter on the Dsc, activating the chart with Uranus sq PLuto and Mars sq Neptune. Transiting Mercury was partile conjunct Pluto in the Capsolar and the Moon was sitting on Capsolar Vertex.

Thanks for tallying this, I was just looking at various news sources. Because reports say the ground shook hard and this was felt a mile away, I thought I might find it on earthquake tracking, but didn't see anything in Mexico in the last 24 hours.

Injuries seem stable at 29, with 72 other injured.

I can confirm except I don't see the Mars-Neptune square. There's a quite background Mars-Neptune trine.

From the top... this is a quite excellent example for an explosion! Though the Capsolar is quite off the track (except, y'know, being incredibly pretty), the Cansolar inherits the Quarter and puts Mars on an angle; the Canlunar is the only relevant lunar ingress, and has Mars on an angle; the Bridge is already leading to a three week zone with Mercury, Mars, and Uranus collaborating; and this shows in the daily indications, where the main Capsolar indication (non-location specific) is the ongoing Uranus transit to CapQ Moon, and the final timing is with Mars transiting a Cansolar angle. Mars for the quarter, Mars for the week, and Mars for the day.

Rainstorms over the last 23 hours set new one-day rainfall records in the LA area, with new records specifically being set at LAX (0.96"), Long Beach Airport (1.07"), and in nearby Camarillo (1.6"). A major freeway through a northern mountainous access to LA was closed for snow.

Venus and Jupiter on Caplunar angles have been found to be indicators of rain (or Moon on IC). This appears, from observation, to apply to all lunar ingresses. Though the data is mixed, it appears to apply to other SMA techniques as well.

The current Caplunar for Los Angeles has Jupiter 5° below Ascendant, Pluto < 3° off IC, and a 1°12' Jupiter-Pluto square - an aspect previously seen for record-breaking or highly anomalous rainfall conditions.

The current Liblunar has Venus < 1° from Descendant.

Last night's CapQ had MC square transiting Venus. For the last 2-3 days, CanQ IC was making its way past transiting Jupiter.

A Russian plane (Defence Ministry Tupolov Tu-154) with 91 people aboard disappeared over the Black Sea tonight (early December 25 in Russia) and is now reported to have crashed near Sochi. It was flying to Syria from a Black Sea area resort (Sochi), transporting musicians for a New Year's Eve concert.

It disappeared a few minutes after takeoff from Sochi, which was at 2:20 AM. In the last few minutes, the following page came up for aggregating facts:

Saturn has entered orb of partile conjunction with Cansolar Moon. Get ready for an ugly roller-coaster ride.

Super Typhoo Nock-ten (aka Typhoon Nina) broke recent records as the strongest late-season tropical cyclone since 1963. In struck the Philippines December 25, 2016 (making it also the strongest tropical cyclone ever to hit on Christmas).

It's first landfall (with 160 mph winds) was at Bato, Catanduanes, Philippines (13N50, 124E15) 6:30 PM local time (10:30 UT) December 25. Eventually, it made 8 landfalls in Philippines. We are still too close to it to have damage assessment but, as of today, 87,000 families have been pre-emptively evacuated (I'd estimate this is about 400,000 people), over 11,000 travelers are stranded in the country, 1,000 cargo ships stuck in port, and 7 people are known to have died.

All the charts are solid, but the Capsolar really brings it home.

I can't do better than to quote CNN's morning summary - remembering that Saturn now conjoins Cansolar Moon, and Uranus no longer conjoins CapQ Moon.

Note to Americans: The day after Christmas is Boxing Day, but not the bash-each-others'-brains-out kind of boxing. Clearly, some of you didn't get the memo because fights broke out in at least six malls nationwide. The biggest seemed to be in Aurora, Colorado, where 500 people duked it out in the food court, parking lots and a movie theater. So much for goodwill toward men!


The Aurora outbreak seems to have been a flash-brawl, triggered by a social media announcement. The best time I have is "early Monday afternoon."

Other brawls of note were in Memphis (at two malls), Fayetteville NC, Elizabethtown NJ, and Ft. Worth TX.

What the heck do we do with this? Seems like a national event to me! Let's see what we can find.

National
The Liblunar isn't particularly nice, though it is more Saturn-edged than anything else. We're also Saturn-themed in general because Saturn now is in partile conjunction with Cansolar Moon, and Uranus is no longer conjoining CapQ Moon. (FWIW the Moon-Mercury CapQ progressions are still going strong.)

Transiting Pluto is in long-term conjunction with the Washington Capsolar MC (which I smarmily assert is the on-going dismantling of the U.S. presidency, but that's another topic...) . Ah, for the seeming act of mass insanity, the Washington CanQ yesterday had Ascendant opposite transiting Neptune (and, here it goes again, square ingress Saturn).

Aurora, CO
Aurora has been primed for agitation for months. In particular, the Cansolar had Mars on MC, and then was replaced by a Libsolar with Neptune rising (partile) squared by Saturn. The Caplunar is all "fun surprises, with that 8' Moon-Venus conjunction exactly on IC and Uranus setting; but then the Liblunar dropped the fisticuffs-driving Mars right to Descendant. Quite the setup!

Transiting Saturn is now conjunct Aurora's Capsolar MC and Venus, suggesting a city ripe for celebrating a lousy Christmas (my guess of the success of this flash-scene, given the charts). Then, yesterday, CapQ MC squared transiting Mars.

Other Places
So, what about Memphis (at two malls), Fayetteville NC, Elizabethtown NJ, and Ft. Worth TX? Just as a quick check, did my monthly forecast grab any of these under "Other Locations"? Looking at the Liblunar published notes:

MARS is noted for "eastern Montana to the Texas gulf," which would swoop up Ft. Worth. NEPTUNE is cited for "due north-south through New Orleans & Memphis." SATURN lists "central North Carolina." Dang, that's three out of four with three malefics.

It ended up "at least a dozen malls" according to CNN and most other news outlets.

It appears the largest was at The Fox Valley Mall in Aurora, Ill, with about 1000 participants, 75 police officers and 7 arrested.
There were multiple "skirmishes" at the Town Center in Aurora, CO.
SEveral news outlets seem to have gotten those two incidences confused.

Hulen Mall in southwest Fort Worth, Texas was shut down after a brawl starting outside a Red Robin restaurant spilled inside. It was over by 8 PM.

The Cross Creek Mall in Fayetteville, NC called police about 5 PM after a stampede started when someone shouted about hearing a gun. There was no gunfire.

A fight broke out at the Beachwood Place mall, Cleveland, OH Monday evening, police were called for shots fired, but none were. One person taken by ambulance, but not badly injured, and one teenager arrested for asaulting police.

Stampede and fight at Jersey Gardens Mall in Elizabeth NJ. Reports of gunfire prompted police to respond with machine guns.

Seven people were injured in a fight and stampede at Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City, N.Y two hours after the Elizabeth NJ incidents.

The main story going on right now is the stern line the U.S. is taking with Israel. We've been party to a "two state solution" agreement since the 1970s, and Israel's continued (we say strategic) establishment of settlements along the West Bank is endangering that ever coming to full term. When the U.N. wanted to slap Israel on the wrists for this, the expectation was that, as in the past, the U.S. would veto the action but, instead, President Obama encouraged it.

The current difficult Liblunar has an edge of Moon-Jupiter to it, so we're seeing a similar (I might call it) edge of diplomacy. Kerry is trying to nuance it. They'd love to bring the Carter agenda of peace for Israel and Palestine to fulfillment, though they're surely smart enough to know that the odds are against them. But, since Trump is likely to dismantle the last 40 years of efforts, they have to try.

Yesterday, today, and tomorrow the Washington CanQ has Saturn and Neptune on angles. Odds are against us. An even stronger presence of Saturn and Neptune sits on the angles of the current Caplunar for Tel Aviv, with Sun also square Neptune and Ascendant. Netanyahu is going to keep being a yahoo. I fear, and do everything to set up the long-term failure of final resolution.

Russia and Turkey have announced that they've negotiated a ceasefire in the six-year-old Syrian civil war. The ceasefire goes into effect tonight at midnight, presumably Damascus time.

The U.S. was specifically locked out of these negotiations. Russia and Syria are long-term allies anyway. Geopolitical consequences are uncertain, but there is obviously a lot brewing in Moscow these days.

In other Russian news, the White House announced it is ready to retaliate against Moscow for its hacking of the U.S. election process. It seems obvious that we should watch Russia more closely over the next year than we've had to in a long time.

The ceasefire chart mostly speaks of governments and formalities - certainly a reassertion of the Assad regime's power - but does have a near-partile Moon-Pluto conjunction near IC. Though more separative than uniting, this may be a "line in the sand" marker.

For Damascus...
Since July, the Cansolar has kept things highly disrupted there, with continual risk of rebel success. Pluto is on WP, and the partile Sun-Uranus square is angular. The current Caplunar did not suggest resolution, with Saturn-Neptune closely angular - this is, admittedly, more a sign of overthrow and removal of leaders from power, as well as continued suffering. The Liblunar, though, shows a shift involving paperwork and strong-armed government enforcement, with a bit of a Jupiter-Uranus opening... but forgive me, please, if I'm not overly optimistic. (CapQ Asc squares Mars just as the ceasefire comes into force, and Saturn conjoins Cansolar Moon.)

Regarding peace, for the whole world the current Caplunar has a 0°08' Moon-Venus conjunction. We have seen this despite difficult things occurring, and it may be that this significant halt of war, if it lasts more than a few days, is the primary worldwide impact of that conjunction.

For Moscow...
Russia also has Pluto on WP of the Cansolar - quite close. The Moon-Jupiter has square been working through this, and probably tells a much larger story of what's going on in Russia right now. But the Libsolar is indeed a chart of happiness, including peace, with Venus square Ascendant and a widely foreground Moon as its only factors. The Caplunar has that Moon-Venus conjunction worldwide, but Mars and Neptune closely rising for Moscow - this seems bellicose and nefarious.

but one reason Russia seems to be riding high on success - perhaps the main reason - is that the current Jupiter-Uranus opposition falls right across the 24°05' Pisces Cansolar meridian for Moscow.

To no one's surprise, the ceasefire is at least imperfect. The largest rebel group hadn't signed the agreement by the time the ceasefire was scheduled to start, and there were, of course, violations. It sounds, though, like there weren't as many as we often see in the earliest hours.

Outside observers have remarked that there isn't exactly a fully diplomatic agreement here, and that, instead, Russia seems to be trying to force this through by brute force and wishful thinking to protect Assad and other interests. With this in mind, review the charts above, which are heavy with Sun and Saturn and unlike similar efforts in the past, do seem to be of the "Do it because I told you to!" variety.

Nonetheless, with all the other problems in place this month, the 0°08' Noon-Venus conjunction in the expiring Capsolar does seem to have had one (at least temporary) gain for peace.

It's now official, Obama has levied sanctions against Russia for hacking U.S. computers to impact the election. Basically, we threw out some of their spies and said they couldn't spy here for a while, and levied sanctions against top Russian military intelligence officers.

I think I've covered all the relevant chart factors above.

In Istanbul, an armed attack hit the Reina nightclub. Two assailants were dressed in Santa Claus costumes. Gunfire reported. The attack per NYT was "after midnight" January 1. A CNN tweet is time-stamped 3:20 PM December 31, which probably is EST, though they didn't post a story until 7:03 PM EST (so my copy must be adjusting to Pacific time, i.e., 6:20 PM EST; 3"20 PM EST would still be late Saturday in Istanbul).

As we've seen all year, Istanbul has been a dangerous place. The CAPSOLAR has Mars exactly on IC. The CANSOLAR has the Sun-Uranus square exactly angular.

The December 30 CAPLUNAR has Moon closely setting, Pluto also in setting foreground.

For DAILY INDICATORS, the CapQ has Ascendant square that Capsolar Mars, in addition to the universal progressed Moon-Mercury square. Transiting Saturn universally conjoins Cansolar Moon within 0°01', with the place localized by transiting Sun squaring Cansolar MC.

Keeping Saturn's conjunction of Cansolar Moon busy, two suicide bombs (claimed by ISIL) took at least 28 lives in Baghdad today, wounding 54 others. Traffic is banned from key streets in the aftermath. Both attacks truck a busy marketplace. (The second bomb was ignited minutes after the first one - just long enough for a crowd to gather.)

Then, three other attacks (nature of them not specified in the reports I have) struck elsewhere in Baghdad, killing 8 more (and wounding 17 more).
