Born: May 29, 1955, 11:42 PM CST, Ardmore, OK (AA)

John Hinckley walked out into the streets a free man today after 67 years of hospitalization. As you may recall, Hinckley attempted to murder President Ronald Reagan and wounded four people (all of whom survived), claiming he did this to win the heart of Jodie Foster (whom he had never met but with whom he was obsessed).

The Reagan shooting was March 30, 1981, 2:27 pm EST, Washington, DC. He has been hospitalized in Washington, DC.

Hinckley is a Taurus-Virgo, not the most common luminary combination for a murderer. Furthermore, his two foreground planets are Jupiter and Venus (with Moon closely octile Venus). While this doesn't easily mark his chart as a murderer (pretty much the opposite), it does align with those who would do it for love.

His two starkly challenging natal aspects are both mundane aspects: It's hard to understand his chart with mundane aspects, in fact. Sun squares Pluto and Mercury squares Neptune, both about half a degree. These are classic homicide aspects and to provide a setup for the kind of mental illness he suffered.

His middleground Virgo Moon is aspected by benefics and has to be considered positive. Hisa Sun, though, at best shows him an outsider and likely mismatched to social standards. Mercury, showing the nature of his mind, is particularly important for a Virgo Moon individual: It's in its home sign, background (consistent with his sense of not being heard or able to effect the communications he wanted) and of mixed aspects - but including the partile Neptune square. His Venus (especially important to a Taurus) is background and detriment, and has only one aspect to benefics or malefics, a 3°+ opposition to Saturn so. overall, it's an unhappy Venus.

Transits for today's release begin with Pluto opposite his Jupiter 0°14' (I suppose that's "change of status," change in his basic life quality). Neptune will aspect his Moon-Mercury over the next two years, so we likely haven't heard the last of his mental instability; but, at the moment, the aspect isn't there yet. Uranus opposes his Saturn within a few minutes, marking freedom where there was restriction - it's a liberating aspect.

He had a birthday about two weeks ago. In his new SSR for Washington, DC the highlight is in the luminaries - perhaps signally that he would be much in the limelight. Sun is within a degree of Asc, Moon less than 2° from it in mundo. Beyond this, and transiting Mercury, the main foreground aspect is Uranus' opposition to his natal Saturn (1°) square MC. Uranus also conjoined his Venus, only 0°21' mundo, shaking loose his natal Venus-Saturn opposition.

His recent SLR suggests a happy big life change, though it looks rougher than we've been let know. Transiting Pluto is exactly setting (but tied to transiting Mars). Natal Jupiter is exactly rising, so Pluto opposes Jupiter 0°07'. In fact, it's actually Pluto opposite natal Jupiter-Uranus closely, right on the angles - as beautiful a sign of being set free was one could want, though Mars opposite natal Jupiter-Uranus sounds more challenging.
