My son's birth data: September 29, 1997, 6:15 am, Decatur, GA. Current residence: Morgantown, WV

I'm short on time so I wanted to copy & paste his chart from TMSA like I've seen many of you do but clearly I'm inept at this stuff sooo help?

It looks to be an interesting chart with t Saturn along with t Uranus closely foreground two years in a row. This one has a different flavor though as t Pluto joins the group, doesn't look to be without stress but also hopefully new love? All three transiting foreground planets closely aspect his natal Venus with Pluto being closest. His natal Venus & Neptune are also closely foreground & in partile aspect. Natal Jupiter & Uranus more widely foreground & in wide aspect to each other.

Moon aspects t Saturn a little over 3 degrees & natal Jupiter less than half a degree. Also widely aspects natal Uranus just under 5 degrees.

I know little attention is given to octiles in return charts but I cannot ignore that non-fore t Jupiter is in partile octile with both t Saturn & t Uranus.

t Saturn also aspects n Jupiter just under 4 degrees. I'm hoping this is wide enough to be ignored.

Maybe I just don't want my son to have a rough year but something about this chart tells me Uranus wins out over Saturn. Not that Saturn is all bad and he has definitely been working very hard but it's energy can be so damn heavy. My son was in an 8 year long relationship that ended just over a year ago. It's taken some time but I think he's starting to feel open to new love. I see Saturn & Uranus manifesting in two possible ways for him, a tug of war on his heart - does he meet someone & go for it or decide to remain unattached? Or is it related to his work - does he become so fed up with his working situation that he decides to strike out on his own? He's only 24 but he could just about rehab (if not build) an entire house on his own. But he doesn't particularly like who he's working with at his current job & it's been weighing on him this year. It may be that the coming year he decides he's had enough. Or maybe both scenarios could play out. He also, like me, wants to move from West Virginia. So possibly that's a component as well. t Uranus is on the IC after all!

Pluto = Ju/MC 05' & Ju/Ur 18'
Saturn = Ur/MC 16'
ASC = Ju/MC 02' & Ju/Ur 25'

And if transiting planets & aspects are what is brought to us from the outside world, isn't it a bit strange (telling?) that the year I have major crossings of Pluto & Uranus, my son also has them foreground? Or maybe my mind goes to far...our current SSR's are definitely intertwined though so why not this one? He also has a partile 'discovered' Moon-Pluto square in the middleground. I haven't looked at his SLR's beyond October (his SSR didn't give me the panic mine did) but I will over the next week or so.

Would love to hear everyone's thoughts!

The best thing in the chart, obviously, is SSR Moon's square to his Jupiter. This is psychologically important and positive. It usually brings mostly feeling superior (or others regarding him as somehow uplifted) with much esteem. It's more socially outgoing and gregarious and brings faith in life to treat you well, which usually leads to happy feelings and hopeful expectations.

The body of the SSR, though, seems to be of quite a different kind. The main "cast of characters" are transiting Saturn, Uranus, and Pluto along with natal Venus-Neptune. The tone is primarily separative: Saturn, Uranus, and Pluto together are disruptive, abruptly separative, with dramatically shifting conditions. Saturn-Uranus alone takes a jackhammer to things that are concrete, breaking up stuck patterns and shaking lose rigidities (often with crude, blunt force). Pluto signals that these aren't just shakeups but, rather, separations with a sense of finality, walking through a one-way door that leaves one's past behind. (I think the 3°05' Uranus-Pluto square is close enough to count, especially since each of them is so tightly angular anyway. He also acquires a natal mundane Moon-Pluto square this year.)

Natal Venus is quite interesting here. First, it has a mundane square with Neptune that he doesn't have natally. This means a whole new world of feeling. Foremost, Venus-Neptune brings idealism, strong longing to be enchanted and for things to be perfect. It can be good-hearted, romantic, devoted, and caretaking. Emotions run strong. When working positively, it's utterly charming and enchanting; neutrally, one simply doesn't see the reality of people and situations, preferring one's ideal of them; and negatively it shows vulnerability to disillusionment. This whole package is what he most brings to the year.

However, his Venus is bombarded by mostly severe aspects: Saturn squares it ecliptically and Pluto squares it mundanely. Uranus is also involved; in fact, Saturn, Uranus, and Pluto each aspects both Venus and Neptune (except Saturn doesn't aspect his Neptune) with the following priority:

The basic expectation - which, though, can be worked with and engineered a bit - is that harsh, blunt reality (Saturn, Uranus, Pluto) confronts need for idealistic perfection (Venus-Neptune). Feelings (especially love feelings) are quite powerful, love is very strong in him, and it's love found or expressed in the face of loss, separation, or departure (natal Venus strong and most closely aspected by Pluto and Saturn).

I don't know if he has contemplated moving away, starting a new chapter of life elsewhere. That could easily express the mix of seismic break from his past, disruption of conditions, personal separation, and yet hopefulness and happy vision of the future. Your chart shows similar "break up the concrete" with those simultaneous Saturn-Uranus transits to your angle and Pluto approaching your Ascendant, so this interpretation (one of many possibilities) fits his chart whether it is a move from you or a move with you. With the deep concerns we've discussed about your forthcoming SSR, his chart primarily defined by Saturn, Pluto, Neptune, and Uranus aspecting a strong natal Venus would be consistent with many possibilities for your own chart.

This is clearly a powerful, important Solar Return. The next year likely will fundamentally change his life from this point on. being remembered as one of those lines in the sand or chapter endings where life before and after were quite different. With the idealism and future-orientation of natal Venus-Neptune and the "support players" of natal Jupiter and Uranus, there's a lot of good "move toward the future" energy, supported by SSR Moon squaring natal Jupiter. There's a lot here to work with.

PS - His best place in the nation (not for this SSR - I mean for his natal) is near Willows, California (near Redding, up toward Shasta). At the very least, he'd love a vacation there. (Anywhere in the area, including Shasta itself; and even further north is in orb.)

He's very opposed to moving out west. That was one factor (among several) that played a role in his separation from his girlfriend (she moved to Colorado). He's on board with moving to Tennessee (where I would like to move). He's also open to the possibly of moving abroad, he's very intrigued by Italy. At the very least be able to travel to some foreign lands. But really at this point he doesn't have strong opinions on where he'd like to move. I think most deeply he wants a mate. If he fell in love he'd probably be perfectly content to stay right where he is.

That was a good, intuitive move because Colorado specifically is a center of conflict and pain for him (among other things, two Mars lines touching the whole state). That applies to the whole "New Mexico up to Montana" stretch. But at the longitude of Las Vegas he gets his first Venus line, and then the whole of California is Venus-Jupiter dominated, with Jupiter continuing up through Portland and Seattle. (San Francisco, Portland, and Seattle are all on the same longitude: That's where his Jupiter square MC line runs.)

So "out West" (in the Old West sense) would have a very different sense for him than the Coast, FWIW.

Well if I die then obviously his need for love will be even greater. I think this chart points to it all working out best for him. I don't see the aspects to his Venus as severe, Uranus & Pluto certainly life changing (and going by your interpretations ultimately positive) but that's what he's after. And Saturn can represent settling into a committed relationship.

I do think it seems like something dramatic will happen that takes me out of the picture. I don't think it will be some rift between us because we are very solid so it might just mean I die. C'est la vie.

Well we both really want to take a cross country road trip to the Pacific Ocean. It's just not possible financially right now. It would be wonderful to go though & for him to have that experience. Any place that has a lot of government control in place will be an absolute no from him. Fine for a visit but he'd never ever live there. He makes his own rules, does things his own way ever since he was a toddler. Even taught himself how to swim & ride a bike.

LeiLei, quickly reading your Son’s next SSR:
Dealing with peculiar Pluto circumstances in his immediate environment (SSR ASC, Pluto, r Neptune) causing a certain amount of changing tensions (Angular SSR Saturn & Uranus); reacting strongly to his Natal Venus on SSR MC involving class 1 aspects to SSR Saturn & Uranus (changing tensions).

I certainly hope that you and your son have a huge fight, if the alternative option is you dying. Rifts and fights can be worked through, dying leaves little chance of progress.

Did you know that as we grow we change biochemically, and that those biochemical signatures repeal and attract others. It is a proven fact that part of our growth as a species involved ways to keep the gene pool successful by making us not want to mate with others of a close family. That when a child becomes a man his personal oder, his unique smell, will be repulsive to his mother, and vice versa.

I know that I smell weird and different to my son now as compared to how I did in his childhood, how we interact has changed and while I have a million beautiful memories of our time, his mind and his heart hold onto different memories. Even though at my core I am the same loving mom, something shifted and changed so that instead of seeing me as the end all be all, the one who answered everyone of his million questions of life...why is a salamander slimey, what does baking powder do, how do I tie a fishhook....he has to gain the self confidence to find his own answers and his own way of living that works for him.

Let your son think your ideas are strange, and encourage him to look for his own ideas and tell him that you believe in him and know that the universe is conspiring for his success and that you will love him always.
It would be so horrible for such a nice young man to loose his mother forever to death, but to step back as if in a fight....well that might seem ugly while it's going on, it allows for a better view and breathing room.

LeiLei, I don't tsee your Son losing you through your death with the symbolism on his next SSR; otherwise it would have been seen with his Natal Venus Structures on his SSR MC. His Natal Venus is not afflicted. Maybe speculating on a new girlfriend or changing circumstances with you. For sure his Natal Venus is a very important reactionary theme for his next SSR.

Thank you Veronica, I was being rather dramatic but in fairness what was being described wasn't exactly detailing a temporary rift or some one-off fight.

I know you mean well but wow that's a lot of advice on barely any context. I suppose I could have provided more detail but I wasn't seeking advice on how to parent my nearly 25 year old son. Those days are for the most part over. I experienced 'empty nest syndrome' his junior year in high school when he fell in love & began an 8 year long relationship. While we are sharing a roof now, it's HIS roof, and it's only been for last 4 months out of the past 5+ years. We enjoy each other's company greatly but if something were to happen to me, he's entirely self-sufficient & he would survive.

And in regards to our argument that I posted about on my other thread, he doesn't think my ideas are strange. He doesn't question the validity of astrology at all. We've had many wonderful discussions actually. He was arguing that predictive astrology wasn't good for me. And it ended up being a very constructive argument from which we went on to have a great holiday weekend & I felt lighter than I have in months. I also concluded that he is correct. Predictive astrology isn't for me. I don't think it's healthy (for me) & I've decided to no longer to pursue it. I think natal astrology & synastry are wonderful tools in learning more about ourselves & how we interact with each other. I also think looking back on return charts is a great way to analyze how we react to certain situations, whether it be a trauma or a joyous event. I've looked back on enough in my own life to determine that's there no way to definitively determine an outcome. But that's me & I am definitely not trying to sway anyone else to my way of thinking. We are all exactly where we need to be.
