Colorado's worst natural disaster ever was the Big Thompson Canyon Flood of 1976.

143 people died in a flash flood through Big Thompson Canyon (40N21, 104W46) on July 31, 1976, 9:00 PM.

The flash flood was caused by a "nearly stationary thunderstorm" that dumped 12 inches of rain in under 4 hours, described as "a wall of water more than [20 ft] high" racing through the canyon. This flood hit just as Neptune conjoined the local Midheaven and Jupiter squared Ascendant.
