London's 1605 Gunpowder Plot

Watching the new season of “The Crown” I learned of this huge historical Plot to destroy the entire Parliament building with all members present, which if successful could have altered history as we know it today.

Jim, some of the main symbolism I see for this Plot in the 1605 Master Chart of the Year, the Capsolar is:
Pluto 1,06 cnj IC; a partile mundo Moon-Mars 180; an eclipto Moon-Neptune cnj for this Plot.
1605 Libsolar: Partile Moon-Sun conjunction (an event) partile 90 Jupiter (probably symbolizing Religion or a benefic outcome?); partile Mars-Neptune conjunction.
When you have time---your SMA sight for this Plot.

I thought I had written on this here, but a search for Guy Fawkes on the forum produces only two unrelated posts; so I guess I didn't. Good catch. - Yes, though Fawkes is remembered more or less heroically and romanticized, this November 5 was England's version of our January 5 - still remembered annually.
The intended attack was November 5, 1605, at the opening of Parliament in London. I don't know what time Parliament was set to open, but noon is good enough for our purposes. The day itself, Mars was square Saturn and Venus square Neptune, which is interesting enough on its own. Sun was in Libra and Moon in Leo.
YEAR. Yes, the Capsolar, similar to our current Capsolar, had Moon opposite Mars (0°19' mundo) and conjunct Neptune (0°19' eclipto) with the closest angularity being Pluto (0°54' from IC). Jupiter and Saturn are more widely foreground, which is probably important only to show political theming and because the foreground Jupiter is widely conjunct Mercury (3°46' mundo).
QUARTER. The Libsolar has Jupiter rising (2°22'). It also has strong, positive, royal aspects with Moon conjunct Sun and both of them partile square the rising Jupiter. I addition to the religious themes you mentioned, this seems to me simply to be saying that the crown was preserved and the nation saved. (Sun-Jupiter in mundane astrology nearly always favors the elite: people with money and power tend to win, and usually get more money and power).
MONTH. The Caplunar was quite complex with six foreground planets, but the closest are Jupiter and Moon conjoined within 0°10' on the Zenith and Sun setting (2°09'). Again, this favors royalty and shows the nation preserved. We have a few other interesting foreground aspects to stir the pot including Sun opposite Pluto (2°50') and Mars conjunct Neptune (1°39') - these are consistent with sedition - but the main message is strong Sun plus strong Moon-Jupiter.
WEEK: The Canlunar has Pluto 0°22' from Descendant and Moon 0°58' from Zenith. Besides the Pluto disruption symbolism, Moon + Pluto is consistent with populist uprising, "voice of the people," etc. It is nearly anti-royalist, except the third foreground planet is Jupiter 3°05' from IC. - This Canlunar really tells the WHOLE story in a nutshell by its two foreground aspects: Jupiter square Pluto (2°43' mundo) and Moon opposite Jupiter (1°59'): Political insurrection AND the crown is preserved and the nation saved. (As often happens, the Week chart is the best in the bunch.)
DAY: The CapQ has transiting Uranus square MC, which certainly fits a rebellion. This would have fit better, though, if the plot had succeeded and history had recorded a BIG BOOM. (CapQ Moon wasn't yet within 1° of square to Saturn. If it had been, the plot probably would have succeeded. The orb was 1°10' applying.)

Excellent "royal" observations Jim, thanks.

Reviewing this today (while I'm working on my Uranus in Taurus article), with tools now available we have three more aspects to note.
First, from more conventional means, the Canlunar looks like this:
Pluto on Dsc 0°21'
Jupiter on IC 3°04'
Moon on Z 0°59'
-- Moon-Jupiter op 1°59'
-- Jupiter-Pluto sq 2°43' M
This is quite good by itself. Not really lacking anything. The strongest single voice is Pluto's disruption and the two foreground aspects signal overthrow of traditions, institutions, and authorities (Jupiter-Pluto) and an ultimately good, protective outcome (Moon-Jupiter). There are also subtleties involved, including the fact that Moon-Jupiter also was likely a motive of the plot - it appears at numerous significant turning points of people seeking freedom, and also directs attention to royalty, etc.
All in all a good chart.
There is more, though, Sun had azimuth 90°30' and Mercury 91°05'. With the exactly setting Pluto we get these meridian longitudes:
359°39' - Mercury
359°50' - Sun
359°57' - Pluto
The Sun-Mercury conjunction is measured in azimuth and the two squares in ML, so that the whole breakdown of the Canlunar is:
Pluto on Dsc 0°21'
Jupiter on IC 3°04'
Moon on Z 0°59'
-- Sun-Pluto sq 0°07' PVP
-- Mercury-Pluto sq 0°18' PVP
-- Sun-Mercury co 0°25' PVP
-- Moon-Jupiter op 1°59'
-- Jupiter-Pluto sq 2°43' M
The chart was quite good without these and becomes even better with them.
