Arizona's deadliest natural disaster was the Yarnell Hills Fire.

On June 28, 2013, 5:36 PM MST, 34N14'54", 112W45'29" (near Yarnell, AZ), lightning struck and started the fire. Two days later it " overran and killed" 19 firefighters from Prescott, AZ - "the highest wildland firefighter death toll in the United States" since the 1933 Griffith Park Fire, where 29 civilian firefighters were killed. Yarnell burned for almost two weeks, being finally contained on July 10 after 8,400 acres burned.
