Mount St. Helens (which is rumbling again) exploded on May 18, 1980 at 8:32:17 AM PDT. It is located at 46N12'01", 122W11'12". The volcanoes entire north face collapsed. An eruption column of hyper-heated ash spewed 80,000 feet into the air, spreading over 11 states and much of Canada.
57 people died and $1.1 billion in property damage occurred (almost $3B in 2016 dollars).
