1780 Tabriz earthquake

Post by Jim Eshelman »

January 8, 1780, 1:15 LAT, near Tabriiz, Iran with epicenter 38.2° N, 46.0° E
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1780_Tabriz_earthquake

Estimated magnitude 7.4. 40,000-200,000 deaths (perhaps 50,000 is about right). "The city of Tabriz was almost completely destroyed." I will use the city of Tabriz, Iran as the location because of proximity and the extent of damage.

A Moon-Pluto conjunction was on Nadir as it happened (but Venus on IC and Jupiter recently risen).
