In roughly a 24-hour period of this weekend, three separate tragedies occurred, spread across 3,000 miles, that had some striking similarities. They all involved deaths, death or other tragedy to four or five people, and primarily involved children. Have they anything in common?

The Mars-Neptune opposition has moved on - it's now about 5° wide - but it still will be present for a while in current ingress and personal return charts. I suspect we will see it involved should we be able to get enough individual birth records.

This was also the weekend that transiting Mars opposed Capsolar Moon. The whole country (actually, the whole world) would be expected to feel it. This also means that Mars was square Capsolar Jupiter. (I don't think any of these events matched Ebertin's interpretation of Ma=Mo/Ju as "a happy mother.")

For now, I'll take as close a look as possible at the three events. From this morning's news, I note:

FRIDAY EVENING. October 25, 2013, "just before 8 PM," Bronx, NY. In an apartment where ConEd had turned off the power for non-payment of thousands of dollars of utility bills, the family was providing light with candles. These started a fire. The 25-year-old mother and two daughters (one 4 years, one 4 months) survived. Three boys (ages 5, 2, and 4 months) died.

SATURDAY MORNING. October 26, 2013, morning, Phoenix, AZ. On Saturday morning, police found "a horrific scene... where five people and two dogs were dead of gunshot wounds" (CNN). The body count includes the shooter, who was found next door after shooting himself. Since police "responded... after a resident reported someone firing shots," I am presuming the shooting was in the morning. I'll estimate 9:00 AM.

SATURDAY EVENING. October 26, 2013, evening, Brooklyn, NY. In appropriately Mars-Neptune language, an apartment "turned into a grisly scene of carnage Saturday night." A mother (age 37) and her four children (ages 9 to 1)were stabbed to death. "All five of the dead had stab wounds in their upper bodies" (CNN). I'll estimate the time as 9 PM.

First, the Phoenix event...

As cited in my write-up on the new Libsolar, there is a line of the Mars-Neptune opposition striking down through Arizona. The opposition is 1°10' wide, Mars is 1°57' from the IC in mundo and Neptune 3°04' from the MC.

Additionally, the current Caplunar (October 12) has Mars rising opposite Neptune setting. Mundanely, Mars is 1°06' below the Ascendant and Neptune 6°03' above the Descendant.

Whatever occurred there seems to have had a build-up over at least the last week, because the Arilunar (October 18) also had a Mars-Neptune opposition (only 0°52' wide) across the horizon (and, even closer, to the Eastpoint). [Dormancy is prevented b the 2-planet pattern being within 3° of the EP axis.] The Mundoscope is severe: a Venus-Mars-Neptune T-square with Neptune 0°09' from the Ascendant, Mars 4°23' from the Descendant, and Venus 4°43' from the MC, all contained within orbs of 0°40' and with Mars only 0°06' from the Venus-Neptune average. (I'm suspecting "spurned love" and "exaggerated passions" to be the basis of this killing.)

The Canlunar Thursday evening then switched gears. It does not tell the same story. The Moon is 2°15' from the Asc and Uranus 3°36' from the MC on the other side. Pluto is on the Westpoint. The focus is on sudden and eruptive, but it adds one other feature I expected to see: I mentioned to a friend this morning that all of these events involving children would likely have the Moon strongly involved. (The Moon is very commonly foreground in charts where tragedies involving children are concerned.)

Mars had been transiting the Phoenix Capsolar IC for most of the last week. It was still within 2° of the IC at the time of the shooting, and only 0°03' from opposite Capsolar Moon. This is timing!

The CapQ added progressed Capsolar Moon on the Eastpoint and transiting Venus on the MC. The former makes sense; the latter is disturbing and puzzling.

Transiting Saturn was 0°38' (in RA) from the Cansolar Westpoint.

Second. the two NYC events...

I'm going to use Saturday, October 26, about 9:00 AM, NYC as a time central to the Friday night fire and Saturday night stabbing.

The Libsolar showed shake-up events for NYC. Pluto is 1°02' from the Westpoint and 0°46' from square Uranus. The Sun is 2°43' from square the Ascendant. The Moon is 2°28' from the MC on one side and Uranus 1°45' on the other side, so that their midpoint is 0°22' from the MC. Jupiter is more distantly foreground at 7°06' above the Ascendant.

The Caplunar is dormant. The Arilunar put a partile Sun-Moon opposition exactly across the horizon. But it was the new Canlunar from Thursday night that first started to focus Mars-Neptune on NYC. Nonetheless, it wasn't quite close enough, and the ingress is dormant. Not a single thing useful from the lunar ingresses.

For all parts of the world, we had Mars opposite Capsolar Moon and square Capsolar Jupiter. New York had one clear thing, though, to anchor these paired tragedies at either end of Manhattan: Transiting Saturn was in the exact degree of the CapQ Descendant. (The Capsolar Sun-Mercury also straddled the MC closely.) For the Friday night event, Capsolar Saturn also was within orb of the quotidian angle.

NYC also had transiting Pluto 0°00' from the Cansolar Descendant! Transiting Venus also crossed the Cansolar Westpoint during that 24 hours.

So, could we have predicted this? I am convinced that we have the knowledge to predict major mundane events, though we don't usually have the luxury of enough time to focus on everything necessary to do the job. Government resources of staff, computers, and law enforcement inside information would lead to very accurate, useful, life-saving predictions.

In this case, I did correctly predict a band of longitude (passing from western Montana down through Arizona) for exactly this type of event, based on the Mars-Neptune meridian passage in the Libsolar. To narrow this, we just need a major chart that would determine the latitude.

The Caplunar takes care of this. As astromap easily shows the Mars line slicing across Arizona diagonally just east of Pheonix.

The Arilunar might have drawn our attention further east, into New Mexico, except that this would have missed that close line through Arizona. The eastern-to-central zone of Arizona somewhere near the latitude of Scottsdale would still have held our attention most closely.

The Canlunar Moon - highlighting attention - passes through almost exactly the same region as the Caplunar Mars.

As other charts showed similar things (e.g., Mars being near the central-Arizona Capsolar MC when it opposed Capsolar Moon), we could have confidently predicted a Mars-Neptune event - such as a mass killing or major fire - for a broad region covering about one-third to one-fourth of Arizona.

And could we have predicted this one? Not so easily. We could have detected a wide time period centered around Pluto's crossing of the Cansolar Descendant. That this occurred right after the Libsolar (with Pluto 1° from the WP) would have focused our attention on approximately this date (and no sooner than October 17). Some sort of impactful, separative event (or event sequence) could have been easily predicted in very broad terms.

But, after that, the lunar ingresses gave us nothing (the Libsolar was acting like the 'local, short-term chart' of the hour), so we would have had to cut right to the quotidians. With enough time to pay attention to everything (and presuming we were already looking at NYC as our pet project), we could pretty easily have picked the day that Mars opposed Capsolar Moon and noticed that NYC had Saturn on a Q angle. So yes, it was possible... but not straightforward and not easy (without someone dedicating themselves to watching such things).
