This is the planetary symbolism (including the North Node) I see explaining this unique inhibited relationship.
1: Foreground Venus cnj Saturn for this inhibited relationship.
2: Foreground Direct Midpoint of Moon/Saturn=Asc & EP-WP axis for its malefic emotional effects.
3: Uranus opposed Neptune & North Node for this unique (Uranus) hysteria (Neptune) type “association-alliance” (North Node). It is very interesting what Ebertin says about Uranus/Neptune/North Node combos:
The loss of one’s inner balance together with others, having the same sensitive disposition as someone else, the joint or shared bearing of suffering and grief.
Pisces Moon, mundo cnj Dsc 1,55
*** Siderealists do not include Ebertin’s North Node in their tool bag because very little is missed with its symbolic meanings which is true, but in this most unique case I think it offers merit for symbolic meaning. Ebertin offers as the Principle for North Node:
Association or alliance.
Note the Neptune-North Node conjunction was in the sign of Gemini, the TWINS.

Lunar Nodes (connection) for joined twins is inspired! My one issue with it in this case is that the remarkable aspects are all with very slow planets and do not, per se, distinguish from others around them.
It does set up a pattern, though - one to be narrowed across time to a particular birth moment. This specific chart does have distinct elements of a difficult life.
To begin with, Sun is in Capricorn. Not every Capricorn is disabled, but there seem to be far more physically disadvantaged people with this Sun-sign and, in general difficult childhoods. Or, to put the focus less on environment and more on the person, the character of Capricorns tends to be impacted very significantly by the necessity to overcome early difficult conditions and disadvantages. (Remember that Alfred Adler himself was a Cap!)
Steve, I haven't read the article yet - where (on their bodies) were they joined? I have some interesting Pisces symbolism to discuss, depending on that.
But let's go back to the disadvantage. Of the four foreground planets - Moon, Venus, Saturn, and Pluto - the one clear mundane aspect is Saturn square Pluto. (Oh, and Venus-Pluto is even closer, but let me start with Sa-Pl.) So we have a Capricorn with a foreground Saturn-Pluto square - again, difficulties, need to struggle against unusually bad odds, etc.
The Venus aspects are interesting. Venus-Saturn and Venus-Pluto show an enormous amount of love under difficult, separative conditions. I suspect this was true. Angular Moon is interesting, because these girls had a level of connectivity to another human being at a level few do - physically - resembling the "instinctual web" connectivity, or joinder at subconscious levels, that angular Moon people routinely experience.
Something interesting to me is that - from these four foreground planets - if this were a mundane chart we would expect an event (perhaps involving children) that draws strong public attention and response ("our hearts go to to you" sort of tale) involving loss, hardship, lots of love so that the loss is profoundly felt, etc. This is an interesting framing of their births and lives.

Now reading the link you gave. OK, this was the vaudeville touring set of twins. Angular Moon plus various indications consistent with "freak sideshow" burlesque.
Joined at the hips & buttocks: Not the "perfect' symbolism I was looking for, but I'll mention the Pisces Moon thing anyway: Basic to Pisces orthographic symbolism (and manifesting in various "bondage" themes also seen through the Andromeda myth pattern) is that Pisces shows two fish joined across the middle - usually best exemplifying lower abdominal stuff (umbilicus), but actually very fitting here. (See a picture of the girls: They are joined "across the middle" and swimming in opposite directions. A good piece of constellation orthography expressed.)
Capricorn Sun: Born to an unmarried barmaid (which was a big deal in 1908, and certainly gave a whole slew of "daddy issues" for the Capricorn Sun), and then bought by the woman who owned the bar for their commercial prospects. This is a downright Oliver Twist twist to the story! (Remember, Dickens was a Cap! <g>) They were kept under "strict control" and suffered physical abuse. They were used as property and given no money from their "shows." This is... a very Dickensian Capricorn expression and (on broader terms) anticipated in my first remarks above. As is typical with Capricorn also, their later life was much better than their early life.
As adults, they had what is described as "numerous affairs," and which, under the circumstances, we can surely describe as a, uh, non-routine sex life, outside usual norms. Venus-Pluto and Mars-Uranus figure into this, in addition to the Capricorn-Pisces character.
