Residence du Havre, a retirement home in L'Isle-Verte, Quebec, caught fire January 23, 2014, at 0:30 AM. The article above gives details, including the extreme impact on the small community (under 2,000). The fire occurred in weather so cold that water from fire hoses almost instantly froze on contact, covering the bodies in two feet of ice.

Year: Capsolar
The new year got off to a bad but (literally) predictable start: The new Capsolar had Mars 0°33' above the Ascendant. Also foreground were Venus (4°), Uranus and Jupiter (8°), and the Moon (9°). Mars square Venus (1°27'). Jupiter square Uranus (0°04' in mundo), reinforced by the nearby Moon.

Month & Week: Caplunar
The Caplunar and Canlunar both were dormant. We do have a good example of flow-through, though: The January 8 Arilunar was saved from dormancy by the Moon being 0°19' from the Eastpoint. This allows us to read the rest of the chart. Look especially at the aspects below!

Venus 3°20' east of MC
Saturn 5°41' above Dsc
Sun 7°07' west of MC
Mars 8°05' below Dsc
Moon-Mars mundane opposition (0°28')
Moon-Sun mundane square (0°30')
Sun-Mars mundane square (0°58')
Moon-Venus square (2°01')
Venus-Saturn mundane opposition (2°21')

Day: Capsolar Transits
t. Mars sq. Capsolar MC (0°58')

Day: Cansolar Quotidian & Transits
CanQ MC sq CanQ Mars 1°57'
CanQ Asc sq CanQ Neptune 1°53'
Notice that these are on opposite sides of the angles, so their average orb is 0°02'!
Also: t. Mars sq. Cansolar Asc 1°50'

Hour: Event Chart
The fire began with a partile Moon-Mars conjunction. However, it was strangely past the angles, having risen at 11:23 PM (Moon) and 11:10 AM (Mars). Saturn crossed the EP 18 minutes after the fire started, surely at a time that people were aghast, suffering from the cold, etc.
