The Greeks and Romans associated Virgo with their goddess of wheat/agriculture. Virgo is often portrayed carrying two sheaves of wheat, one of which is marked by the bright star Spica.

IMO, one of the main symbolic endeavors of a Virgo, regardless of their objectives in life, is to “separate the wheat from the chaff.”
Prov. to separate what is useful or valuable from what is worthless. When it comes to books, time will separate the wheat from the chaff. Good books will have lasting appeal, and the rest will be forgotten.

She is best known for her portrayal of the young uneducated mountain girl Elly May Clampett in the 60's television sitcom The Beverly Hillbillies. One of the main distinguishing character points of Elly May was exactly her love of animals, or "critters" as she called them. She kept her family's Beverly Hills property constantly overrun with dogs, cats, chickens, goats, a couple of chimps, plus various and sundry other pets. She also displayed the androgynous nature of Virgo. Although an attractive young woman, she was very much a tomboy who preferred blue jeans over dresses and who could "whup" her hulking male cousin Jethro every time they wrestled.

Since 1984, after purchasing my very modest home, I have always taken in and loved em--all the stray cats who have found me. So many have come into my life, I have had to make special outside arrangements to care for them.

Stray cats find me like a magnet! My latest two, one followed (kitten) followed me for a half mile to my car early one morning while walking through thick woods on a dirt road. The other, a grown adult cat that our group of people who care for stray cats in an abandon house appeared on my front porch---a mile away from the group cat shelter. This cat I had to attend to for several wounds he received in a vicious cat fight two years ago. Took a month before he fully recovered, I used a special blend of antibiotics with raw honey to treat his infection and wounds. This cat found my front porch having to walk through thick woods. Indeed, cats have a special divine sixth sense! My sister who tragically died in a horse accident made me promise her when we were kids that I would always look after stray cats, she loved cats and taught me special things about small animals, she was also a Virgo.
