Relocated Angles for Transits

Hopefully I’ve posted this topic in the right section. I’m really just sharing an observation here.

As someone who lives half a world away from my place of birth I’ve often wondered at the impact of my relocated chart. For example, I’m still not convinced that my relocated ascendant changes my expression of my personality. I’ve lived in my new relocated home for about 12 years and in that time none of the outer planets had traversed a relocated angle until recently.

Transiting Pluto made a first pass across my relocated MC earlier in the year and it was about this time that I seriously started considering re-commencing paid employment after being a stay-at-home mum for the past 15 odd years. I submitted an application or two, selectively, as the pressure to return to work wasn’t huge, I wasn’t desperate to work any job, and wanted to find the right position. At this time I wasn’t closely following the activity in my relocation chart at all. By the time the retrograde pass of Pluto on the relocated MC was 0*06’ applying, I was offered my first interview (in 17 yrs!) where I had to give a PowerPoint presentation (which was rather a big deal for me as I’ve not done that before). The interview took place as t.Pluto was 0*03’ from just making that second pass over the relocated MC. I was offered the job a few days later. I only thought to check the relocated chart a few days later. I don’t actually commence the job until early September. There are three more passes of Pluto over my MC over the next 16 mths.

In my natal chart, I have Virgo rising with a close Moon-Pluto conjunction in Virgo sitting about 6* above the horizon. This often-grim pairing of a Moon/Pluto, in my opinion, is helped by one of the closest aspects in my chart, a Pluto-Uranus Parans conjunction. I have Gemini on my natal MC, and Capricorn on relocated MC. The job is working as a librarian in one of the most elite schools in my city (a nice expression of Virgo, Gemini and Capricorn).

I still feel a bit apprehensive about re-entering the workplace after such a long time and will be carefully observing the next 3 passes of Pluto across that relocated MC over the next 16 mths. But the timings of these transits and events firmly convinced me if the sensitivity of relocated angles.

Hi, Katy, and welcome back.

Thanks for sharing the great example. I agree with you: Yes, transits to local angles are every bit as responsive as transits to natal (birthplace) angles. I've lived 2,100 miles from birthplace for 48 years and, while transits to my local Midheaven often are indistinguishable from the same transits to my natal Venus and Pluto (which are angular here), transits to my local Ascendant hit an area where there are no other planets.

Congratulations on the new job.

So, should both charts be considered? (the birth chart and the one where one currently resides) I have been living in another city for the past 10 years, and my rising sign changes by almost 20 degrees.
I have always used the birth chart and never the relocated chart. As far as I understand, both are valid, and both charts are sensitive to transits, right?

Yes. You add angles and do not remove angles.

Yes.

I have your birth chart but don't remember you saying where you currently live. (From birthplace to Lima is only about 5° on Ascendant.)

Currently, I reside in Tacna. It's not a 20-degree difference, it's a 13-degree difference. My rising sign changes from Capricorn to Aquarius.

Got it. I don't think the sign matters, especially in relocation, but the 10° difference on MC and 13° difference on Ascendant give you additional angles subject to transit, progression, and direction.

Thank you, Jim. I'll keep that in mind.

This is interesting. Thanks for sharing Katy.

Using my relocated angles I'm only now having Uranus transit my IC (3 passes already completed for birth place IC) & Pluto has yet to complete a full pass of my AC (2 passes already completed for birth place AC). Until now I've thought these transits had only manifested as purely psychological (my life being just as boring as the last 2 years) but maybe there's still hope a big move is in my near future!

Thanks Jim! Yes that’s a good point - both my relocated ascendant and MC are in areas of my natal chart where there are no planets making the impact quite clear.

Transits to the IC are interesting. My husband and I bought our first house when t.Uranus was traversing our composite IC.

Pluto was on my natal IC when I moved from my home country to my husband’s.
