My NEXT 2023 SSR

Jim, since I am a recreational gambler seeking out low risk high payout wagers, I am going to try and get to these coordinates for my next SSR. However, it seems to be in a remote place somewhere in a desert in Utah.

https://ibb.co/PFhb5k0

These coordinates calculate a Jupiter (ASC) Pluto (MC) Paran known in some Sidereal circles as Incredible (Pluto) luck (Jupiter). Also, eclipto Venus partile conjunct SSR IC, but don't like its action with my Natal Saturn-Pluto. This would be a nice relocated SSR for me to carry back/experiment with in Springville :) , but still have to deal with SSR Saturn partile conjunct my Natal IC "locked-in" for next solar year.

A couple of things before I dig further: First. that Venus isn't on IC - that's the 5th cusp. Sincey ou use uneven house display, these mistakes sometimes happen. Venus isn't foreground (that would have been sweet!).- Oh, but wait - it's on the Nadir (lower square to Asc, so, yeah, youre good!

Second, a minor point: Solar Fire is about half a minute in time off (it's an older calculation formula). As long as we're going to try to narrow this exactly, might as well have the chart exactly right, yes? The SSR occurs September 20 at 9:25:23 PM MDt.

Let =me dig around a little when I get home, since I can't look at maps easily on the computer here at work..

With what I CAN do from here: It looks on a map liek the spot you noted is about halfway between Bryce and Moab. Checking these two locations:

MOAB
t Jupiter on Asc +0°41'
r Saturn on N -0°43'
t Pluto on MC +1°43
t Venus on N +1°10'
t Uranus on Asc =3°00'
r Jupiter on Dsc -4°36

BRYCE CANYON
t Jupiter Asc -1°46'
r Pluto N -1°06'
t Pluto MC =3°18'
r Mars IC +3°30'

So yes, pretty much between them, preferably closer to Moab; and in Moab you have the Saturn pretty strong. Let me play with this a bit. (Hanksville is pretty close but still a ways west I think.)

I wrote Venus on IC but meant Venus on Nadir. Thanks for playing around with this SSR Jim.

Home now. As best as the map on SF can show it (but using the TMSSA time for the chart), the Jupiter-Pluto intersection is 38N36'49" 110W25'58". This is exactly right! (It's good to know the SF astro-maps are that exact.) Calculating the SSR in TMSA for that long/lat, I get:

t Jupiter on Asc 0°00'
t Pluto on MC 0°00'
t Venus on N 0°01'

Wow!

This also means, of course, that Jupiter square Pluto is 0°00' mundanely, while transiting Jupiter is 0°11' from square natal Pluto eckiptically.

Additionally, natal Saturn is more than 2° from Nadir.

With something like this, the question is how to get you there. (Yeah, that's the question you actually asked.) As you discerned, that might not be easy.

Ah, wait! Now I see where this is! You might actually be able to get there. I recognize the spot!

Steve, this spot looks to me like it's on top of a hill. Marion and I have camped not far from there (maybe very close. On the map, notice toward the right both Arches and Canyonland national parks near Moab. There is a road off the highway (off 191? I don't remember) that goes up and over a hill with camping spots at the top. Arches is down one side, Canyonland down the other side. We camped at the top of that road one night, went down to Arches at down and spent the morning, then came back over the hill and went to the Canyonland visitor center, a bit of the park, and then spent an hour or two at Dead Horse state park not far from the Canyonland visitor center.

I'm not sure which road that was over the hill in terms of the map shown above, but it's easy to find when you're just outside Moab. The Moab in-town visitor center has an easy map. I suspect it was the road (black squiggly line) off Hwy 191 near the large block splotch labelled Green River.

Canyonland is vast. It has a small part everyone can get to, another part that only offroad vehicles cna reach, and another place where you have to be dropped in by helicopter (for a few days, I guess). I think, though, that all of those are south and east of where the name is on a map (I'd need a Canyonlad map to be sure).

Search Google maps for Dead Horse Point State Park outside Moab. That will allow you to trace the road back to the main road (313) which should come out to that "road over the hill" I mentioned before. - Yes, I just confirmed you can search for Canyonland Visitor Center and it will show it to you on that road over the hill I thought I recognized.

The visitor center is 38N28'35'', 109W49'09''. This is 8' of latitude and 23' of longitude from your ideal spot. It's better than nothing, but probably you can do better.

I should mention that if you got this far and went into the Moab in-town visitor center, they might be able to tell you exactly how to get exactly where you want at 38°36'49" N 110°25'58" W. - But let me try a little longer...

Coming down from US 70, werst of 191, is a little road called 24. It roughly follows the part of the map that looks like a b lack winding river (but is surely part of the hill structure). Road 24 comes down past the exact spot you want, not too far away. (If I'm reading the countours correctly, it's straight down the hill.) Given the slant of the Jupiter rising line, somewhere on 24 as close to the spot as possible but toward the NW is probably best. For example, here's for a spot right on the road that is 38N42'40'' 110W30'10'', only 6' of latitude and 4' of longitude from the perfect spot:

t Venus on N 0°01'
t Jupiter on Asc 0°01'
t Pluto on MC 0°08'

I suggest you fly into Grand Junction , CO (for example), rent a car, drive to Moab (a few hours), stay overnight, have a late night picnic by the side of the road in this ultra-obscure spot, then take in a park or two while you are in town.

How's that?

8-) Jim, I appreciate these details! I too have camped at Moab so am familiar with the area. If Brock was still with me, for sure we would try to plan a camping trip to catch these coordinates for my next SSR. I still may make this trip, how many times in my life time can I catch a Jupiter-Pluto Paran in USA plus t Jupiter partile 90 my Natal Pluto for a double whammy of Jup-Pl :) ? It would be great fun to experiment with this relocated SSR. Thanks again Jim for your time looking into this SSR.
