I don't have times, or even exact dates, on these. This bloody weekend in Chicago is not something shown by the new Liblunar which came in Sunday morning (about 5 AM Chicago time) and had Venus 1°13' from square Midheaven. Nor does it show in the last prior non-dormant lunar ingress, the June 21 Arilunar which simply had Sun and Mercury at Midheaven.

We do get a valid showing, though, in the current Caplunar from June 15. For Chicago, this has Saturn 0°17' from Westpoint, Venus just barely within a 3° orb of Eastpoint, and Venus-Saturn < 3° from opposition. It was a tragic and sad month through that part of the nation. (We saw this Venus-Saturn manifest in other ways.)

And the current quarterly solar ingress, the Arisolar (which shows better for local phenomena than as a DC chart) has Mars 1°09' from Ascendant with a mix of other planets.

So we have the quarterly solar and the current "master chart" lunar, but not the weekly charts. This leaves only the daily timing.

First of all - I know without even looking - Thursday was the exact day that transiting Mars squared CapQ Moon. The few days surrounding this sort of transit are always surges of splattering blood in one or more parts of the country. To make it even more intense (though normally it wouldn't be a strong factor on its own), today is the exact day that transiting Mars conjoins Arisolar Moon.

Notice that transiting Mars has never left the 1° orb of one or the other of these, and had a 0°31' band when it was simultaneously in partile aspect to both of them. Mars is currently moving 0°26'/day. Therefore, there was more than a day (over 28 hours) when it was aspecting both of them. Saturday was the midpoint.

Going past this, what do we see? (I'll use noon Saturday as the center point of the July 4 weekend overall, measured from Thursday.)

Besides the Mars-Moon transit, the CapQ only shows transiting Mercury on IC. "News." CanQ had nothing on the angles either. (Both charts had the ongoing Moon-Venus progressed square, very close.)

The Cansolar has transiting Neptune 0°38' from conjunct its Midheaven. This is especially interesting, because the Cansolar (still valid for another week or so) was particularly ugly for Chicago:
Mars 3°20 below Ascendant
Neptune 3°24' east of MC
Mars-Neptune square 0°04' in mundo
(Also, for Chicago, the Moon-Saturn conjunction was only 0°52' in mundo.) We haven't paid a lot of attention to this high-impact Cansolar in a while, but it's still been sitting there.

So the event isn't the usual kind of A-B-C formulary showing we usually see, but one can hardly thing it was a miss. The perfectly valid Cansolar (which is actually still the "chart of the year" for Chicago, since the Capsolar is dormant there!) is violently ugly and had Neptune transiting partile to MC.

Within this context, under a violent Arisolar (current solar quarter) and a tragic Caplunar, but with nonparticipating intervening lunars, this bloody, deadly, tragic weekend occurred just as transiting Mars squared progressed Capsolar Moon AND Arisolar Moon.

The universe is amazing in her complexity and (usually, even to limited human perception) amazing in her precision.

This stuff has such fascinating potentials. (Including potential for just being plain interesting.)

One of the problems - as shown (I think) really well by this "chart of the week" series of threads - is you have to watch each individual location. Maybe if I'd known the RNC was about to name their convention city, I'd have picked Cleveland - but, in general, you'd have to be watching Cleveland to catch that something of this was going to happen. (Astromaps help a lot, but they don't catch all the squares to the angles on the same layout, plus EP/WP contacts; and even then you have to go back to a known good (non-dormant) map and check it to see the actual set of all planets angular, their aspects, etc. An Astromap won't do it.

OTOH if we knew they were scheduled to announce a city this week, we could have looked at the Liblunar's astromap for something positive somewhere. There's a Venus line curving through the west that passes near Salt Lake City and right through Albuquerque, and a Sun line through Detroit, Cleveland, and on through West Virginia, Virginia, and North Carolina. Jupiter slices through the upper corner of Maine. They had a shorter list but, given just this much (and the large list), there's a good chance that we could have picked Cleveland.



We have to create tactics. "Looking forward" is the biggest challenge by far, but it does start from the learning curve of "looking backwards" at enough events to really integrate how this stuff works.

It happened again: 40 people were shot in Chicago between 6 PM Friday and 0:00 Monday. Four died, including an 11-year-old girl on a sleepover.

Again, we have an unmistakable Chart of the Week message: The current Arilunar for Chicago has:

Moon 0°04' from IC
Venus 0°23' from Dsc
Mars 1°43' from MC
Pluto 6°33' from Asc

For further timing, this weekend had CapQ MC approaching the opposition of Capsolar Mars and transiting Uranus. (The contacts to Mars are almost perfectly precise as I write, meaning they were passing through the 2° orb over the weekend. At the same time, the CanQ angles floated through Neptune.
