At least 44 people are dead and 85 others injured from the head-on collision of a passenger train and an oncoming freight train near Larissa, Greece 235 miles north of Athens. (50 to 60 people are still missing so, given the fiery explosion of cars, I expect casualties to climb.) Temperatures inside one of the cars reached 2,370° F.
Both trains were described as "completely destroyed." "Multiple cars derailed and at least three burst into flames" (Yahoo). About 350 passengers were on the passenger train.
The location is in Greece, in the Larissa region, in the Templi municipality, near the village of Evangelismos. (Ironically, the village name means "good news.")
Greece's transport minister has resigned and the responsible stationmaster was arrested. No news reports are calling this a record-breaking deadly event, but I can't find a record of a Greek train accident with a higher death toll. (The Corinth crash in 1968 killed 34.)
The charts are OK (adequate) without being exciting until the day charts slam it home. Transits to the Capsolar will zeroed in and the CanQ sealed the day (even though the CapQ sucked). I wish Mercury were more involved, though - it's essentially absent whereas it normally makes a strong appearance in vehicle disasters. - The Bridge is a +3 for the explosion, fire, and death, though I wish Mercury were there to make it perfect.
Year: Capsolar {0 or +1}
(This MIGHT deserve +1 because Venus-Uranus is a specific aspect showing for fiery explosions. I don't rush to praise the chart yet, though.)
