Suzanne Somers Final SSR

Born Oct 16 1946 at 6:11 PM, Somers died one day before her next SSR, I've seen this happen quite frequently, which I find strange.

Born a Virgo Sun/Gemini Moon, Sommers became a popular sex symbol while playing the dumb blond early in her career despite being born under Mercury luminaries and an afflicted Venus. She was intelligent enough to exploit her surrounds, which included a gullible audience. Her most foreground planets included Jupiter above the DSC in Libra along with Mercury below the DSC respectively.

I would like to note that Sommer had repeated incidences of breast cancer but was a huge proponent of hormone replacement therapy of all types. While hormones are not directly related to a direct etiology for breast cancer, they can act like gasoline poured on a bonfire.

Sommer's final SSR occured on October 17th 2022 in Palm Springs, California. This SSR featured a beautiful Moon/Venus square almost partile on the ASC/MC. This like Moon/Jupiter is probably significant of Somer's family being present not only during her death but after her diagnosis in July.

Next we have a close Moon/Pluto opposition across the Mc/Ic axis for dramatic shifts and emotional culminations, farewells.

Finally, Sun squares Pluto in the foreground even closer, which signifies even more turning points. A reality Somers couldn't escape. With Pluto so close to the IC aspecting the luminaries, the universe was sending Somer's an eviction notice to vacate her physical home.

There was also a close Venus/Sun conjunction, which was probably significant of attention. It seems she loved attention just not a pathological or pretentious way.

Stunning SSR Venus.
For her death symbolism:
Transiting Pluto Partile 180 her Solar Arc ASC
Transiting Pluto 1,17 90 her Solar Arc Saturn

This is an excellent write-up.

Her nativity is complex and loaded. Mercury has to be considered her dominant planet with Virgo-Gemini luminaries and Mercury 0°38' from Descendant, but she has Sun (WP 0°26') and Jupiter (Dsc 1°48') similarly angular (and Saturn not far behind, and Mars not far behind that). I think we see her diverse entrepreneurial side career with Sun and the four business planets all so strong. (Her Mercury aspects are excellent and interesting.)

And you're right, her Venus does get a bit hammered (though mostly by wider aspects).

It's remarkable - a testament to her - that, despite her childhood environment she never became destructively involved with alcohol and drugs herself. Given two Mercury-ruled luminaries, the close (and closely foreground) Mercury-Mars conjunction square Pluto, Mars' placement in Libra, and more... this chart seems ripe for substance abuse. Something in her committed not to go that route.

Regarding health: First, her natural vitality is very high with a precisely angular Sun and her Moon-Sun mundane square. In her case, this went so far as to make health, well-being, and vitality her trademark and her business. While focus been on her recurring breast cancer, the main story, I think, is that she lived 77 years as a health symbol. The chart does not scream 'cancer' to me, especially breast cancer. (Was there a genetic history? A reason her body was predisposed to that particular weakness?) Two things match it somewhat: Mars-Pluto aspects are on record as seeming cancer-prone; and Mars also squares Saturn in Cancer. These are definitely her roughest aspects (consistent with tough upbringing and general toughness through life), while also seeming the only aspects consistent with her few health weaknesses. (BTW, Moon in Gemini rules the legs, especially the thighs: She made thighs a brand everybody knew about!)

Her only hard aspects involving two non-foreground planets were Moon square Neptune (close, mundane, cadent but middleground), Saturn conjunct Pluto (moderate, middleground), and Uranus square Pluto (moderate, middleground, mundane).

Her early life struggles are evident - the exactly angular Mars and its squares to Saturn and Pluto - but they aren't the biggest things in her chart. They are quite strong, and other, positive, life-affirming things are even stronger.

Palm Springs was probably not the best place in the world for her to live, though. I have started to think of the relocated natal as the first layer of predictive charts and find - for Somers, with all of her closely foreground planets at birth - the difference between San Mateo and Palm Springs put Mars 0°03' from Descendant, backing Mercury and Jupiter into secondary places and shifting her Sun off the angles altogether.

As you say, her final SSR a year before she died is lovely. Heavy luminary angularity, an exactly rising Venus with close Moon-Sun-Venus aspects on angles. But she also had a 0°10' Sun-Pluto mundane square, i.e., transiting Pluto squared natal Sun and tied into all the rest. Pluto is most common for deaths where the person has time to think about the fact that they are dying.

But it IS lovely.

Her final lunar return occurred October 6. Transiting Saturn is 1°18' above Ascendant. Sadness and good-byes seem the main feature with the only two close foreground aspects being a Venus-Saturn opposition (2°55') and Venus opposite natal Pluto (1°16' M).

Aside from her returns, what else was there? She had no solar arcs peaking at the time she died. By secondary progression, though, she had a Sun-Neptune square only 0°04' past exact, a clear enough sign of the likely progress of her disease. By transit, interestingly Saturn was in partile orb of square her Venus - I'm not clear what that might have meant other than the good-byes mentioned for her SLR, but it might have had a personal meaning.

I agree Jim, there's not much symbolism in her other charts.even her July SLR chart for her recurrent diagnosis closely echoed her October SLR. She was probably satisfied with everything she accomplished in life.
