Yeti Airlines Flight 691 crash

January 15, 2023, 10:51 NPT (+5:45), near Pokhara, Nepal at 28N11'38" 83E58'56"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yeti_Airlines_Flight_691
At least 68 people were killed of the 72 on board the Yeti Airlines flight. This was the third deadliest air crash in Nepal's history (the others being in July and September 1992, with 113 and 167 dead, respectively).
The plane crashed in the Seti River Gorge near Pokhara, Nepal. It had last contact with Pokhara airport at about 10:50 AM LT. (It had departed Katmandu at 10:33 AM and reportedly crashed 18 minutes later, which would be 10:51 AM.)
Sunat 29°42' Sagittarius had not entered Capricorn yet, so this is likely the last major event we'll study under the outgoing 2022 Capsolar.
The solar ingresses are unusually poor for this, but the one operative lunar ingress nailed it - a new Liblunar. The Cansolar then timed the date very well.

Suicide bomber at a mosque. At least 100 are dead (including 27 police officers), at least 220 others wounded. (The mosque is situated inside of a secured police compound.) This is only the latest in a recent series of attacks but is the worst of them. The bomb was exploded during the (sundial) noon prayers.

Ohio train derailment

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2023_Ohio ... derailment
A Norfolk Southern freight train carrying vinyl chloride derailed and, to avoid an uncontrolled, surprised explosion and fire, was intentionally set ablaze three days later, resulting in a controlled explosion. Vinyl chloride is deadly, and the smoke from the fire is carcinogenic. People were evacuated from the area for several days but local animals were killed, the soul likely polluted, and toxins likely flowing in to the nearby Ohio River.
May more details are in the article linked above and in recent news coverage.
The derailment occurred exactly the minute Neptune set, with a nearly precise Sun-Uranus square. The solar ingresses are poor at best. We don't get to a single good chart until the Week chart (the new Canlunar). Then the day chart (CapQ) nails it! But if this is primarily a vehicular event, there's not a single strong Mercury (let alone an afflicted strong Mercury) anywhere to be seen.

One wonders if this were not perhaps a bigger event in Washington than at the location, though is seems it would have been a big event locally. Notice that while for the accident site the CapQ had one Saturn on an angle, TWO Saturns were conjunct EP-a in Washington at the same time. Washington's CanQ had Mercury exactly on MC (though it had no aspects.

Silicon Valley Bank collapse
Posted: Sat Mar 11, 2023 7:21 am

Yesterday, trading was halted at Silicon Valley Bank and the FDIC announced it would take over. This marks the largest bank collapse since 2008. SVB served nearly half of all venture-backed U.S. companies and held $209 billion in total assets at the end of last year. This will surely have repercussions throughout the market, especially affecting the tech sector.

Thanks, Stef. I was looking at that yesterday on the way home, partly trying to assess the real importa and partly trying to pin down a time (that that an exact matters MUCH).
Yesterday the Dow fell less than 350 points, which is more of "just another day" - despite the fact that the news cane early in the day.. Perhaps Monday it will tumble harder, but it could well have dropped a thousand points Friday and didn't. So, far this doesn't look like a 2008 repeat. (NASDAQ and S&P took harder hits because tech and healthcare industries were the most involved).)
In timing, the real fall was the day before - still under the Canlunar, before the Liblunar came in. Then the Friday events seemed to be in at least three distinct steps: Multiple reports from the same news agency (CNN) gave mixed data, saying variously that the government was there first thing in the morning (9 AM?), that it was " mid-morning," that it was five hours before the market closed (which would have meant about 11 AM). I do have an article from CNN that issued a few minutes after 9 AM PST (i.e., I saw it at about 3 PM and it said it was posted almost 6 hours earlier) saying the government had shown up and the market began to dro0p - I suspect the article was rewritten throughout the day. The DJIA peaked at 11:35 AM, so that sounds like news breaking at 11:30 ASM. I suspect the three successive events were state of California showing up at the door, then handing it off to the Feds who had FDIC show up next, then the news breaking - perhaps three events at roughly 9, 10, and 11 AM. I suppose 11:35 AM is the best time for a national event since that's when the effect hit the market.
We likely have to study it from several places. If this becomes the expected national event, then we obviously have to look at Washington. Otherwise, is the event for Santa Rosa, the bank's headquarters? (Where exactly did the state agents "show up" at start of business? There, or in Menlo Park or other nearby Silicon Valey locations? Are these the best concentration of the event, or is it a Sacramento action?
At some point, this is going to get a strong treatment. So far, I don't know where to start. We may have to wait until next week to see whether this has any impact beyond short-term.
The new Liblunar - a couple of hours before the bank opened - has Neptune rising for Menlo Park, squared by Mars - definitely a panic signal - though the same chart for the U.S. (Washington) is upbeat. (The Canlunar had been economically bad for Washington.)

This is probally the major news I mentioned would have to happen to give the stock market a new trending direction. Smart money is starting to move large sums of $ out of the Stock Market.
IMO, this is similar to what happened to the Savings & Loan crises in 1982 which was caused my rising high interest rates, history repeating itself. If the Fed continues to raise interest rates at its current rapid pace, the same is going to happen to other smaller banks and there will be another banking (smaller banks) crises which probably the Fed/Gov will have to bail out, the big question is when? But the only SMA charts I see near term for timing a possible rapid escalating crises would be the DC Arisolar with one of the May or June SMA lunars, I forgot which one. The Fed is in a very bad situation---lower interest rates to prevent another banking crises, but this will escalate inflation. Powell has strongly indicated he has to keep raising interst rates at these rapid paces to combat inflation which the real inflation rate (not what the government reports is currently running 15-20 %. Unless the banking institution go back to high yeilding interst rates called CDs back in the early 80s, mainly institutions will at a rapid pace pull their money from the banking system and put it in the rapid rising T-Bills yeilding rates, this collaspes the smaller banking institution. Small bank stocks are plunging in price. Look at it this way: If you were an institution and had 10,000,000 $ in a bank and could get 500,000 $ a year on T-BILL yeilds, what would you do? You would take it out of the banking system/stock market fast....
This is beginning to have a snowball effect with all the institutions holding stocks as investments--they are taking their $ out of the stock market fast and putting it in T-BILLS. This is becoming a major problem now! Why? Because interest rates are rising so fast because of the REAL inflation rate! Whereas, back in the late 70s early 80s it was a slower procees intill the Fed was forced to raise interest rates real fast to take $ out of circulation to lower inflation. This process kills us little folks with not much savings---it robs us through the ravages of high inflation. What will our Fed Chairman Powell do next????

Stef, I'm still not settled on how big an event this is, but have decided to study it as a local Northern California event and, separately, as a national event (Washington). Let's see where this goes. (So far, the impact has been minor other than to give the news media something to talk about. It
might be the kind of event best studied not even for a region but, rather, for the horoscope of the bank itself - if we had that.)
I think the best event is the March 9 event (SVB's shares badly tanking) for the bank headquarters in Santa Rosa, CA. (Central headquarters is likely where the commotion was; or, at least we're in the correct general part of the world.) News reports of the bank dumping stock to shore up its balance sheet hit a few minutes after noon, so noon seems to be the pivot time that set the rest of the events in motion. This article might be useful as we move on:
Silicon Valley Bank: Here's a timeline of the bank's failure

The Capsolar is perfect. The lunar ingresses start to move into the zone. The Capsolar transits and CapQ angularities move in on the day. The AriQ is a surprise bonus! (I didn't bother to list the LibQ: It wasn't necessary and was quite bad except as a "this won't be too bad" chart.)

Donald Trump arraigned
Posted: Tue Apr 04, 2023 2:06 pm
by Jim Eshelman
April 4, 2023, about 2:30 PM, Manhattan, NY
Donald Trump surrendered to arresting officers, was processed, and then appeared in court for arraignment about 2:30 PM, being the first U.S. president ever criminally charged.
Of great interest to me is that transiting Neptune was opposite U.S. natal Neptune exctly!
0°47'40" Pisces - t Neptune
0°47'57" Virgo - r Neptune
I'm not sure what that means, but am interested that the exact day of this transit marks a non-trivial day in U.S. history. Here are all transits to the U.S. natal:
t Pluto co r Pluto -0°48'
-- t Mercury sq r Pluto +0°47'
-- t Me/Pl = r Pl 0°00'
t Neptune co r Neptune 0°00'
t Jupiter sq r MC 0°58'
So far as Trump's chart goes, we already know that his SLR for New York City is devastating - one of the worst seen. Were there any transits to narrow the day? No, nothing in particular. Mars will square his Neptune in a couple of days, so there may be another shoe to drop.
I'll come back and run the ingresses when I get the chance. Probably they should be run both for the location and for Washington.

Donald Trump has been indicted on seven counts regarding the classified documents probe. News is emerging about 8 PM EDT.
We've been expecting this all day from various scraps of data over the last few days. I'll examine it as a mundane event for the U.S. when I get the chance, but feel free to run with it.
The new Caplunar two days ago has, in Washington, Sun closely foreground and Moon aspecting Venus and Pluto. FWIW, it also has a 0°01' Moon-Eris square.

Israel military attack of Jenin
Posted: Mon Jul 03, 2023 7:34 am
by Jim Eshelman
July 3, 2023, 1:14 AM EEDT, Janin, Israel
Israel has launched its largest military action in over 20 years against the West Bank city of Jenin ("an extensive counterterrorism effort"). These included air strikes that launched at 1:14 AM, followed by ground forces. At least eight people are dead (including five teenagers) and 50 others injured (10 seriously).
I haven't been clear for years whether the effective capital city location for Israel should be treated as Jerusalem or Tel Aviv, which are 40 miles apart. This is far enough to make a difference in the charts. Jerusalem is 31N46 35E14. Tel Aviv is 32N04 34E46. Jenin (Janin), where the attack landed, is 32N28 35E18, the longitude of Tel Aviv almost exactly.
Two weeks ago there was other combat in Jenin, described as "an Israeli military raid [that] erupted into a massive firefight."
Charts will be calculated for the Israeli capital, using Jerusalem initially. Pluto was on Zenith when the air strikes began, with Venus-Uranus square being the most obvious aspect of the day.

As a contrast, I'll compare the angles for Tel Aviv, though the capital has now been officially moved to Jerusalem as far as I can tell (but with some geographically divided government functions that confuse me on where the real "ego center" of the country is - though the identification in mass mind is probably Jerusalem).
Essentially, the charts are the same. In the Cansolar, Pluto moves to within 0°03' of the angle. In the Libsolar, Saturn is slightly less angular (still closest). In the Caplunar, Mars is slightly closer to the angle and the "looking after 'my own kind' first" Moon-Jupiter is a little wider (and some other orbs move around). The Liblunar is probably the most changed because the balance shifts: Venus' orb becomes a little closer (which makes it less fitting) and Jupiter-Pluto orb grows among other subtleties. Overall, Tel Aviv and Jerusalem aren't much different but, to the extent they are, the Jerusalem angles are slightly better.

Forth Worth mass shooting

July 3, 2023, 11:40 PM CDT, Forth Worth, TX 32N43'37'' 97W23'59''
At least three are dead and eight others wounded.
The location is described as a parking lot in the Home Street area (3400 block of Home Street near Diaz Avenue) of Forth Worth's Como neighborhood, a predominantly Black neighborhood on the west side. For the last 70 years, the neighborhood has made a big deal of 4th of July with ComoFest, including large outdoor gatherings on the July 3 evening, so a large crowd was in the streets.
CNN says there have been at least six mass shootings July 1-3. I haven't been tracking all of these, but the tone of the last few days has seemed tense. (I saw the ones in Philadelphia and Baltimore mentioned: I can't track all of these unless the fatalities are numerous; but the others may have been as big a deal as this one in Fort Worth.)
Most sources say "just before midnight." A Huffpost article gave 11:40 PM. Diaz Avenue comes up to Lake Como where the fireworks display had just occurred, but I'm having a hard time finding Home Street (it's not on a list of Fort Worth streets
https://geographic.org/streetview/usa/t ... worth.html) so I'll use the coordinates for Lake Como Park (above). Saturn was rising and Mars had recently set for the shooting. However, these charts aren't so great overall. (I've given the Arisolar and Libsolar daily timings because the CapQ was dormant, and the LibQ is the only thing that cleanly marked it, which is poor performance. Some of the charts are seriously wrong.)

Libya flood (Storm Daniel)

September 11, 2023, hour unknown, Derna, Libya (32N45'49", 22E38'10")
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Storm_Daniel
I'm just catching up on this event, having now seen some aftermath news reports. I'm just starting to piece it together...
Storm Daniel
aka Cyclone Daniel is descried as "the deadliest and costliest Mediterranean tropical-like cyclone ever recorded" (and the deadliest worldwide since 2008). It affected Greece, Bulgaria, and Turkey on September 4, bringing "extensive flooding" causing massive, expensive damage - the worst recorded storm in Greek history.
But Libya was hit hardest, not only by furious rains but with two dams burst near the port city of Derna causing at least 11,300 deaths (but 100,000 still missing). One-fourth of the city was obliterated. Entire neighborhoods were carried into the sea by flood waters. I'm looking for the time of the dam collapses as the best moment-place for this. The two dams were the Derna Dam and Mansour Dam.
The storm dissipated by September 12 after causing at least 11,326 deaths (but estimated as 18,000-20,000), with many thousands still missing and over US$2.14 billion in damages.
As I can't find a time for the dam bursts (even Al-Jazeera didn't have it), I'll use noon.

Cyclone and floods in southern Brazil
Posted: Mon Sep 18, 2023 4:14 pm
by Patrick Machado
Early this month my state (Rio Grande do Sul) went through the second largest natural disaster in its history. An extratropical cyclone advanced through the region, leading to heavy rainfall, winds, and devastating floods. Almost 100 municipalities and 350,000 people were affected, including nearly 50 deaths. The state of Santa Catarina was also hit.
I'm fine. The state capital, where I live, went relatively unscathed (e.g., no reported deaths).
Though it was (and is) a multi-day affair, the date for the formation of the cyclone is September 4. I've used Porto Alegre (30S01'58", 51W13'48") as location for simplicity, as well as the most affected town, Muçum (29S09'54", 51W52'04"). A lot of Pluto throughout the charts.

First, we're all really glad you weren't hurt or badly affected.
The 2023 Rio Grande de Sul floods now has its own Wikipedia page:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2023_Rio_ ... Sul_floods
It as much less information than you gave. Formation date of the cyclone isn't very helpful: The best data are date, time, and place where it first makes landfall, or the data for when it struck the place most tragically hit.
You said the cyclone formed on September 4 and that it hit your area earlier this month. "Formation" is usually quite a bit (days and often weeks) before landfall. When did it hit? Using September 4 for Mucum (just to see how the solar and lunar ingresses were converging), I see the Pluto you mentioned plus a violent surprise in the Capsolar:
- CAPSOLAR (Year): Mars closely conjunct IC (and the worldwide Moon-Pluto square).
- CANSOLAR (Quarter): Worldwide, this chart has a New Moon opposite Pluto. This is angular for the area, with Moon and Pluto across EP/WP in RA (Pluto closest).
- CAPLUNAR (Month): Moon is again closest, falling in the exact minute of EP. It's in partile mundane conjunction with Pluto (which, however, is not itself angular).
- ARILUNAR (Week): Pluto is just over 1° from WP-a and opposite a non-foreground Venus. In disasters, this can mean loss of life but often more describes loss of community, with damage to homes etc.

So, September 4 is the date of the peak of the storm. I've read it described multiple times as the date of the formation of the cyclone, so I relayed it as such, but it was indeed when the heavy hitting occurred (
i.e., what matters). At least once I've read something like between the 3rd and the 4th, but between the 4th and 5th was when the severity of the situation was firmly and widely established. That's consistent with some sources specifying the
night of September 4, though the weather was already fierce during daytime.
September 4 is the unambiguous date for the disaster.

Indeed: over 25,000 people (state-wide) lost their homes. Muçum itself was damaged to the point that its mayor said that it "no longer exists."

October 3, 2023, just before 5:00 PM EDT, Capitol Building, Washington, DC
In an unprecedented event, Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy was removed from office. Various news sources seem to say this ended a few minutes before 5:00 PM. (CNN first reported it at 4:52 PM.) The vote was 216-210 with only eight Republicans voting to remove - meaning that the Democrats took him out after Matt Gaetz set him up.
This occurs just days before transiting Neptune opposes U.S. natal Neptune. At the time of the vote, the transit was 0°01'!
Ibn one of the most sublime bits of symbolism for "remove the Speaker," transiting Pluto is 0°10' from opposite U.S. natal Mercury! USA also has Moon-Uranus progressed square 0°18.

Rep. Mike Jordan is the new Speaker of the House after weeks of inability to elect a speaker. This was reported around 2 PM EDT, so likely happened soon before that. Johnson was born January 30, 1972, in Shreveport, LA.
The single striking trigger: Transiting Jupiter is crossing the Washington, DC Capsolar IC, being currently 32' off the angle.
The CapQ is a mix of contention and cooperation which is probably what it was like on the floor. At 2 PM:

I now understand why these charts were great through the Caplunar then essentially quit.
It isn't really over yet. What happened today was that the negotiating team made an agreement unanimously - it surely is a good one - but there are two more steps. It has to go back to the union's board, and then to the members for a vote. Every expectation is that these will go smoothly but, as of now - at least technically - it's not over yet.
Downtown LA Fire
Posted: Mon Nov 13, 2023 2:25 pm
by Jim Eshelman
A downtown LA fire started Saturday afternoon Saturday (11/11), burned several cars, spread from a storage yard to ignite another storage facility, and eventually exploded in size enough that one of the city's major links to downtown traffic exchanges (I-10) is shut down indefinitely. We got phone emergency alerts last night that the 10 was shut down.
I haven't had time to gather all the data, but the basics are clear. Transiting Uranus has been square the LA Cansolar MC and, by Saturday, transiting Mars opposed Uranus and squared Capsolar MC. (The number of significant fires without Mars transiting a solar ingress angle or on a quotidian are miniscule.) Here are some quick notes on the backdrop:
YEAR: Capsolar has a foreground Mars-Neptune partile square (mundo) plus the universal Moon-Pluto square.
QUARTER: The Libsolar is dormant (though with a partile mundane Moon-Neptune square), and the Cansolar has that exactly angular Uranus. (The rest of the Cansolar isn't so bad, although if there was an actual explosion involved, the foreground Venus-Uranus square matches it.)
MONTH: Caplunar is a positive chart, with Jupiter exactly angular but Saturn not far behind. Add Moon-Sun-Pluto. Nort a great chart for the event, other than perhaps Mercury square the foreground Pluto meaning the traffic blocks.
WEEK: The new Liblunar is dormant. The Canlunar has Saturn within 3° of Ascendant (plus partile Moon-Pluto mundo).
Then Mars opposed Uranus and squared Cansolar MC.
Massive South Los Angeles fire
Posted: Tue Nov 28, 2023 9:27 am
by Jim Eshelman
November 28, 2023, 3:20 AM, Los Angeles, CA 34N00'15'', 118W14'45''
An abrupt, massive fire in south Los Angeles, consuming an entire city block, drew 100 fire fighters and wiped out several homes "in a blink of an eye." (Five buildings were a "total loss," seven others were damaged.) Two seniors were hospitalized for serious burns. No deaths reported. (Address: 1585 East Vernon Avenue, misreported as Vernon Street but correctly reported as between Lima and Morgan.)
The fire seems to have started in an apartment building under construction with "downed power lines." 140 firefighters took 78 minutes to put out the fire.
The fire started with a Venus-Eris opposition across the horizon and Pluto near IC. I suspect the effect of houses irrevocably lost came as Pluto worked its way across IC. Venus was 2°04' past Ascendant and Pluto 2°10' before IC. Interestingly, at 3:20 there was a Moon-Sun-Mars exactly across the east-west axis (Vertex line) that does not show as an ecliptical aspect. By Azimuth and longitude:
90°03' - Sun - 10°53' Sco
270°17' - Moon - 24°16' Tau
91°27' - Mars - 7°49' Sco
Nonetheless, the three Class 1 ecliptical aspects were Sun conjunct Mars, Mercury square Neptune, and Mars square Saturn. Notice that while all of California is under the usual annual Capsolar effects that would be consistent with the fire, this exact pocket has a dormant Capsolar - it misses that particular effect. If it was the fallen electrical wires, look at how close Uranus is to the Cansolar angle!
Charts are decent (especially if it was an electrical fire), though daily timing was poor. Despite the immediate drama, this was a small local event. Technically the Cansolar takes the daily timing lead over the Capsolar because the Cansolar had the only Bridge content, but that content was a single long-term transit (and the CapQ was entirely wrong).
