At 7:50 AM today, outside the principal's office of a government-run boarding school in Kano, Nigeria, a suicide bombing (in the middle of a student congregation for a speech) killed 47 people and wounded a similar number. Boko Haram, of course, is suspected.

Before the above event, on March 18, 2013, in Kano, Nigeria, three Boko Haram suicide bombers drove an explosives-packed car into five buses (at the Kano bus station) that were being boarded by Nigerian Christian civilians. Between 22 and 25 people died. Over 65 others were injured.

I have no time for this event.


Then, after the above event, on November 28, 2014, at 2:00 PM, 120 people died and 260 more were injured at the Grand Mosque in Kano. Two suicide bombers blew themselves up in the mosque courtyard during Friday prayers, and Boko Haram gunners picked off anyone who tried to escape. Probably the location was selected because Kano's emir (one of Nigeria's most senior Muslim clerics) had been encouraging people to arm themselves and rise up against Bok Haram; his palace was adjacent to the mosque.

Other suicide bombings had occurred nearby in the three days prior.
